Tacoma is doing ok. Eating well, sleeping all night with me (which I love). She gets subcutaneous fluids 2-3 times a week from Dr. Daughter to help keep her from dehydration and to push fluids thru her kidneys.

Took ballet again this week. Not as sore - I am taking Adult Beginner right now as I get back in (slightly) better shape and I figured out what did it for me last week. At the end of our barre, we do grand battements, high (or, for me, not so high) kicks in 3 directions: front, side, back, side. My teacher, who is our director emeritus, has us do 2 battements, then touch your toe to the ground (straight leg) and lift up again for a last battement. The goal - as I remember - is to use the hamstring and muscles on the underside/back of the leg to lift up. In reality - at least for me - I end up using the large muscles on the front of my leg. Which led to four days of soreness.

So last night I just did 4 battements, skipping the touch/lift. No soreness!

I have been going to comtemporary, as well, with another dancer from my adult contemporary group. And both weeks we have both been complimented on how well we work together. This is a new teacher for me, one of my former dancers who just graduated college with a degree in dance pedagogy. Her style of contemporary is very different from my previous classes at the studio, but very in line with the dance I do with my adult group. Less formal, more 'dance your feelings' and she is very big on getting us to work with each other in an unstructured setting. Its what Rachel and I do with the adult group, but I'm still working on getting that style in my body and it's lovely for us - as the only adults in the class - to be recognized.

My house is a mess - we are slowly taking down Christmas. Both of us are so tired that it's very slow going.

We are mounting a new ballet this spring! Don Quixote! and I have requested to be able to submit designs and my directors said I could!

Atlanta, here I come!

OK, I'm packed (and ready to go...../song) - terrified I've forgotten something really important and yet really sure I probably haven't.

the armor is done! I actually got to leave work a little early today, Himself left early to get me (I carpool and had no transportation), he spray painted my armor, I added rings to tie it on and TA DAH. I'm very pleased. It's far from perfect, but so much better than I would have thought even a day ago. I did, however, manage to knock off the shoulder armor just trying to pack it, so I threw in my craft glue. I will fix it there.

5 costumes, plus Sanderson Sisters. 1 very large suitcase (probably about 40 lbs, I can lift it easily), plus 1 carry-on that is barely within legal limits, 1 tote bag. Haven't decided if I'm bringing my computer; we usually don't have Internet because I am to cheap to pay for it. I'll decide that in the morning.

I guess I"d better pack a book. If I *don't*, I guarantee you I won't be able to sleep. If I do, I will crash the entire flight.

And awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay we go...........

Bling!

so I spent the long holiday weekend with the Usual Suspects and we spent the weekend in glorious comfort in a home theatre pimping each other into new and wonderful things.

I saw:

XMen: First Class
XMen: Days of Futures Past (in the theatre)
Thor 2 (also costume analysis for a possible new costume)
How to Train Your Dragon
Princess Bride (nestra wins for reciting the most dialog w/ the movie)
Pacific Rim (I know I forgot one!)

TV:
Henry V with Tom Hiddleston (Shakespeare! Costumes! Tom Hiddleston!)
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Almost Human
Sleepy Hollow (with added costume analysis bonus!)
Endeavor
Penny Dreadful (no thank you)
Musketeers (yes please)
Vids

I know there was also viewing of:
Arrow (which I watch regularly)
Hannibal (which I decline to watch)
and I think Orphan Black?

Girls, what did I miss? An altogether magnificent weekend. I am exhilarated and exhausted and missing everyone terribly. Why must I go to work?

::huge breath::

I have committed fiction. If you are so inclined, I would be most grateful:

Weihnactsbaum. Sleepy Hollow. Gen, 2,200 words. Ichabod and Abbie and a history lesson.

Many many MANY thanks to dearest King Touchy and nestra for beta-reading, hand-holding and cheerleading!

1 I am here

2. I am very very tired

3. I am very happy at the New Job. Getting up at 4:45am is the pits; however, getting off at 3pm is wonderful

4. I am nearly halfway thru this Nutcracker run. It is going well, but I am very tired. As are my dancers.

More later.
