I'm genuinely confused as to why the Aesop Rock gig in Nottinmgham is free. I actually think I'd rather tave it paid for as its going to be ridiculous now (and not good ridiculous)
Incidentally I nearly missed it entirely, by a stroke of luck saw a flyer in the chippie yesterday or I wouldn't have even known!

ISWYD Tour
So I saw the first show on the tour last night in Cambridge MA....
El turned in one of the sickest fucking performances I've ever seen. He was decked out in full gear from the Smithereens Video
and his DJ was.... MISTER MOTHERFUCKING DIBBS.
I had no idea Dibbs was going to be there, and I don't know if he's gonna join him on the rest of the tour but wow, what a surprise. After El-P's dad introduced them to the stage ("Now presenting... from Definitive Jux Records..." haha goosebumps, great voice) Dibbs came out in a camo facemask and started spinning "Mad World" by Gary Jules. The whole crowd was just going insane screaming the lyrics and Dibbs brought it to a crescendo and dropped all sorts of fucking bass and distortion on it before throwing it right into "Tasmanian Pain Coaster" as El-P took the stage and just started killing it, I was going so nuts up front I thought I was going to pass out.
After doing that song (everyone in the crowd knew all the fucking words) he just stops and goes "Ohhh... it's going to be one of thooooose shows tonight, huh.." and everyone was just... wow, what a good show. Y'all have to check it out.
Only downpoint of the night was during Dibbs' set, someone kicked out the mixer cable somewhere at the soundboard. Dibbs started yelling, and when it wasn't fixed in 10 second, he started flipping out and ran up to the nearest audio tech and got right in his face and started yelling, SCREAMING at the dude. Aahahaha oh my god I've never seen anyone as scared as that guy was, he may actually have shit his pants. Dibbs stormed off stage and just about kicked the backstage door in before El went and got him and they fixed the mixer, but he was really heated the rest of the night. He'd been mad into it before hand, slam-dancing and headbanging at the tables and shit, after that happened he spent half the time looking pissed and trying to find someone to knock out.
But damn... insane show. Check it out if he comes near you.

i'll sleep when you're dead
i bought the double vinyl on friday night. what a great experience. this album is seriously hot shit from start to finish. i cannot decide if i like any song best; i like them all! that said, i was already a matt sweeney and cat power fan, so tasmanian pain coaster and poisonville kids no wins are appealing to me, and make great bookends as the first and last tracks, respectively. i also love aes' and trent reznor's contributions. now i'm jonesin' for some new aesop material, and i may even check out zero hour.
