[The video feed turns on to show a timid looking Mary staring into the camera. She purses her lips and tucks some long hair behind her ear, then manages a smile.]

Hello. Um, I've been thinking lately...

[She glances away, as if unsure of how to proceed.]

Recently, back home, I thought it might be good to talk to someone about... well, personal things. Like a doctor or a psychologist or... I don't know. Maybe it would help or maybe not.

I don't know if there's anyone like that here. It would have to be someone with experience dealing with... the unusual.

[Mary huffs, not knowing how to express it any better without saying too much.]

Maybe it's not even a good idea. Have you ever thought about doing something when someone else really didn't want you to? Do you do it anyway if it might help?

[Mary hadn't thought about the usernames. She didn't consider something as little as that could give her away, but it definitely does.]

He's seen her switch usernames twice, and the only time they spoke, she'd been using a different one. So... ] do you remember speaking to me before?

[Speaking to him before? So, he's met Walker. Already, Mary gets the sense that he's smart enough to figure it out.]

[ Oh boy. Well, sounds like he's right. There's a little bit of a pause here - not from distaste or fear, but from a genuine consideration of what's the best way to approach...meeting someone for the first and second time. ]

is walker the one who doesn't want you to get counseling?

I don't think we have therapists for the supernatural.

But talking to anyone or even having some kind of support group can't hurt.

It's not supernatural, but thank you. It's not the sort of problem that's easy to talk about, even in a support group.

I have a unique diagnosis. Treatment might not even work, but sometimes, you just wish you could do something, you know?

This seems to be the place where unique problems could be fixed. Considering the variety and skills people possess here.

But it sounded like it was more personal than physical.

In this case, it's a little of both.

[There are personal feelings wrapped up in the physical, or mental difficulties.]

Unfortunately, I don't think I've heard of anyone offering that. But I don't think it's a bad idea. With how tough things can be around here, we might very well need it.

I don't know that anyone can help me, but it's been on my mind lately and I thought I should try.

But you're right, there are other people who might need help, too. This place can be difficult to deal with sometimes.

It's not a matter of just getting things off my chest. I've seen doctors before. A lot of doctors. None have ever been able to help me. But it's been a few years and... I thought about trying again.

[ There's an equally timid-looking teenager on the video feed, but although his smile is shy, it's friendly. And there's a curiosity there; the things she's saying hit home for him in a specific way. ]

I don't know about psychologists here, but I have met a couple of doctors. They seem to have experience dealing with unusual things, and they might be able to help offer some thoughts.

[ There's a pause, at the next bit. ] Sometimes I do.... if I can. When it means enough to me.

But... I'd have to consider a lot of things. Um... If the other person would hurt me if they found out. Or even worse, hurt other people.

[ The smile is slowly shifting into a soft frown, thoughtful. ]

Everyone says that being honest is always best, but sometimes... it's not as simple as that, right?

[It was nice to see a friendly face.]

[Maybe she can get in contact with some of those doctors. It felt strange just reaching out and asking the world for help, but she'd seen some others do it and get some good advice.

The way he talks about how he weighs his options puts a concerned look on Mary's face.]

Would someone do that? [Hurt him or others?] No, it's not always simple.

They’ve seen things I’m not familiar with from my home world, and have been able to offer me some helpful scientific insight, myself. [ He nods with another little smile. ] Their names are Dr. Ziegler and Dr. O’Deorain.

[ He definitely understands how weird it feels to reach out for help. Especially when there are things a person is used to keeping secret.

The question has him offering a soft sigh, looking downwards for a moment as he thinks about it. ]

If someone is… desperate enough to not let whatever it is happen. If they think that’s their only option, they could hurt people. [ The teen looks back up to her. ] Would the person who doesn’t want you to do this… hurt you if you did?

[It sounds as though the doctors are more the scientific type than the kind Mary needs, but she'll definitely keep an eye out for them.]

Walker? Oh no, she'd never hurt me. Not like that.

[It would be like hurting herself if she did!]

I don't fear for my safety. I just want a better life.

Is there a reason they wouldn't want you to do it?

[Mary sighs and twirls some hair between her fingers.]

We've tried it before. Getting help has never worked out. I gave up on the idea, until recently.

Ah, what happened to change your mind?

[he's all wide-eyed and interested. far from a professional, but definitely a willing ear.]

I found out Walker wanted to run away. To someplace where we'll never have to be around people anymore. That's not what I want, so I thought maybe if we got help, I could change her mind.

[It all makes perfect sense to Mary, but it's probably confusing to anyone else.]

[ It looks like they've both changed. Something about the other woman is definitely different. Then again, she was a much more rambunctious teenager last time they had spoken. But it's an interesting question and she's curious. ]

Someone else tellin' me not to do somethin' usually makes me wanna do it that much more. [ She gives a low laugh. ] Then again, that's what got me sent to a school psychologist when I was a kid.

If seeing one is what you want and need to do, you do it. Anyone who stops you, does not have your best interests at heart. Not like your committin' a crime or anything, there's no harm in seein' a doctor.

[Something is definitely different. Even her username has changed since the last time she spoke to Ashe.

The rebellious notion gets a little smile from Mary.]

It's true I don't always do as I'm told. If I did, I'd never leave the house.

[She just can't agree to be indoors all the time.]

I only want to help, which is why I was thinking of seeing one without permission.

[ Observing details in her line of work is of great importance, so she makes a note of the change, but does not ask. It's also interesting just how different she is. Makes her wonder if she ate something, either now or then. ]

Why would someone want to keep you in the house? Sounds like a bad situation. [ And a really good reason to be cranky, in her opinion. ]

I say go for it. Sounds like whoever wants to keep you from help, isn't doing you much good.

[It's hard to imagine Mary being cranky, but everyone has their moments.]

To avoid trouble. After awhile I can't stand it, though, and I go out anyway. More so these days.

[Mary's been feeling more and more independent.]

She has her reasons. I don't think Walker is a bad person. It's just a difficult situation.
