[ Will hasn't been completely silent on the network since he arrived in April, but he's yet to show his face.

It's a genuine attempt at seeming trustworthy that he's filming himself now. ...Even if his crossed arms and inconsistent 'eye contact' with the camera suggests he's not thrilled to be trying this.
]

My name is Will Graham. I haven't met...most of you, I'm sure. So I'll understand if this isn't welcome, but—

Well, I don't really have to explain why I'm concerned about the townspeople, do I? [ He gives a smile that's got too much grimace in it. ]

I live out in Clarke Acres. It's a bit far from where they...tend to be on the prowl. If anyone doesn't feel safe where they're living right now— [ His expression pinches into a short scoff; who would feel safe right now? ] —you can, um. Come stay here for as long as you need.

I'll— share my address with anyone who asks. [ And then he opens his mouth one more time, like he's thinking of adding more...but ultimately he just looks down, away from the camera, and then the feed goes black as he turns it off. ]

slicing those stupid masks off and then punching their faces in is a lot more fun than hiding

[personal profile] laminae 2019-05-26 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
yes?

i mean i'm sleeping in trees most of the time. kinda have to be outside to do that

[personal profile] laminae 2019-05-27 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
i usually sleep in the trees near my house, which is kinda on the edge of town? near the lake

[personal profile] laminae 2019-05-29 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah sure

[Except he's still as stubborn as Finn and probably won't. And it just occurred to him, this has never actually came up last month, so he might as well ask.]

you should he careful too. do you even know how to fight?
laminae: (oh)

[personal profile] laminae 2019-06-03 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
really? that's cool

[Genuinely cool, why didn't you mention this earlier Will!]

what kinda cop stuff did you do?
laminae: (big questions)

[personal profile] laminae 2019-06-04 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wow, if Will thinks that's a good enough answer to satisfy Fern's curiosity he's got another thing coming.]

what'd you switch to? what happened?

[ Gwen doesn't consider the fact that her chosen username is perhaps in poor taste considering the recent climate, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

She looks innocent enough on video, but that's just because her gun is stored in her cutesy shark backpack. ]

"Anyone?" Is that really smart? There's some creepazoids out there.

[personal profile] variantcover 2019-05-27 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm... You're probably right. Sweeping threats are like a lightbulb to angry mob moths.

[ Wow he's either really paranoid, or really savvy when it comes to reading people. ]

Well good luck running your shelter for displaced youth or whatever. I can handle the worst of what Creepsville has on offer, so I don't need to take refuge at some stranger's house.

[personal profile] variantcover 2019-06-08 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure do. Assuming your internet handle is your real name and everything.

[ Hers isn't, so... you never know. ]

[Walker can't help but raise an eyebrow at the nervous looking fellow who seems to have good intentions.]

A nice offer, but you don't really look like you can protect your house guests.

[And those who think they can protect themselves will probably stand their ground.]

What if all the people attract attention?

[Wouldn't that put Will in danger, too?]

[Looked at the pollen entity? What is he...? OH.]

That wasn't me.

[But wasn't it? Well, the network username is different. If it wasn't her, she must have a twin running around.

She can see he appears frustrated by her previous words. Not that Walker generally cares if anyone's feelings are hurt, but...]

I'm just saying, if you're going to invite people to stay with you for safety's sake, you need to be able to keep them safe.

static_rain: (w6)

[personal profile] static_rain 2019-05-30 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
[When Walker says 'it wasn't me', that's just what she means. What Mary does is... whatever she does, and Walker has no knowledge of it. Mostly, she finds her alter to be a regular nuisance, and Walker isn't pleased to hear that Mary's been making herself known to the whole world. To say that she wasn't 'feeling like herself', though, wouldn't be too far from the truth, so she leaves it at that.]

So they have powers? I heard powers have been on the fritz.

[Although powers exist where Walker comes from, she has to take care of herself the old fashioned way.]

I can keep you and your guests safe, but I don't work for free.

[She doubts he'll hire her, but Walker is always looking for a job.]
static_rain: (w1)

[personal profile] static_rain 2019-06-03 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Other people's moods, for better or for worse, roll off Walker like water off a quacker, so he can be as snappy as he'd like. She's used to dealing with difficult people now and again; those who hire her tend to have a lot of personal issues. Otherwise, they wouldn't need her services.]

I don't have powers. I have years of military training and combat experience.

Do you have that?
static_rain: (w2)

[personal profile] static_rain 2019-06-06 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
[In Walker's opinion, neither of those details would qualify Will for real combat. Not the kind she's experienced, anyway.

Will seems kind of nervous for FBI work, but he could be some kind of specialist.]

If it's the money you're worried about, I take IOUs or future favors. I can't really be picky right now when it comes to work.

My clients are usually pretty elite. I'm not going to get much of that here.
static_rain: (w1)

[personal profile] static_rain 2019-06-14 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[So long as the people with Will didn't lose control of their abilities, they'd probably be fine, but sometimes people also liked insurance, and that's where Walker would come in.]

Sounds like I'm getting the better deal, but sure, if that's how you want it.
static_rain: (w2)

[personal profile] static_rain 2019-06-15 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Walker waits, since it appears Will may have something further to say. Thanks wasn't expected or needed. She was after a job and she got one; the closest thing she's had to one so far.]

Text me your address. Let me know if you need me.

[Congratulations, Will; you've caught Chara when they're actually somewhat bearable, and more predisposed to being helpful.]

If too many congregate in one place, crowds will likely draw their attention. I recommend remaining on the move and changing locations as often as possible.
inconsequence: (❤ i mean i know this is The Internet)

[personal profile] inconsequence 2019-05-27 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Also unadvised. Staying in one place for too long only delays how long it will take before you must face the danger again. And by then, they may very well be battering down your doors.

Has it occurred to you that some of those more predisposed to violence may have access to this very broadcast? You're only opening the doors to an all-you-can-slaughter buffet.

[Evidently, the same thought has crossed Chara's mind. Don't blame them. They're just baseline distrustful of any open displays of kindness, is all.]

If you're enacting a scheme to lure people away for your own benefit, you'd best hope you've efficient countermeasures at your disposal.

[Because they're not going to stand for that, sir.]

By using my brain.

[Thanks Chara.]

Assuming you lack one, my general recommendation is to remain in motion as often as possible to prevent oneself from getting cornered.

[ It seems like a genuine enough offer for those who might be seeking shelter away from the rougher parts of town that he's been frequenting lately, and it's hard to see that as anything other than generous. A couple years ago Sam might have trusted it at face value, but these days his trust doesn't come so quickly. Being literally stabbed in the back will do that to a guy.

Still, if there's an angle on this, he doesn't really see it. His gut's telling him it's just a man trying to help, even when he knows that it would make more sense to just look after himself. ]

If you feed them, they'll never leave.

[ It's said lightly enough, and with a small smile. He'll definitely take this over more masked vandals - he's changed into a fresh plaid shirt and showered, but the raw scrapes marking visible skin suggest that he's been anything but clean lately. But in the background of the video is a quiet, unscathed living room. ]

Do you think you can handle it if you get some unwelcome visitors?

[ Whether because he invited them, sight unseen, or because they follow someone honestly seeking help. ]

[ Sam can only imagine what kind of replies Will must be dealing with right now. ]

I always wanted a dog. Couldn't have one, since we were constantly on the road and sometimes we barely had enough food for my brother and me as it was.

[ Bittersweet memories all around. He's starting to learn that most people here have plenty of those, and even if Will doesn't say it, Sam's used to hearing the way people talk about happier lives lost. It's how Dean talks about their youth with Dad, how he talks about his college days with Jess - and apparently how Will talks about his dogs.

He doesn't balk at the blunt response. It's par for the course as far as hunters go, and whether or not that's close to what Will is, that's the kind of vibe that Sam's getting from him. ]

The former, mostly. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea for me to show up if things are otherwise peaceful out there, since I might bring trouble with me. The masked guys, they don't appreciate the fact that I've been stopping their fun.

[ Trouble tends to follow him even on a good day. ]

[personal profile] fathertoson 2019-06-07 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Sam's met a lot of people under the worst of circumstances over the past few years, he's learned that offering some relatable experience tends to soften the sharpest edge of uncertainty with a complete stranger. It also tends to give him an equivalent glimpse into the kind of person he's dealing with in turn, whether they intend to share or not.

Admittedly it can be a purely practical move, but in this specific case he's genuinely interested, not just digging to find answers that will lead him to what he needs to know. ]

It never felt like there was much choice in it for me.

[ He thought, at one point in his youthful naivete and arrogance, that he could break free from his family's legacy. That didn't work out. ]

Something like that. [ That's what happens when you show mercy, it just gives them a chance to come back for revenge, Dad taught them that, and ignoring that lesson has already proved disastrous for him once before. But he can't believe that these people are past saving, and he can't- won't kill them if there's another way. ] I'm fine, really.

[ He's not worried about any potential assault here, in a pretty easily defensible position. The trouble comes when he goes out. ]

How about this, if I need a place to lay low for a while, I'll let you know, and if you need a hand, you can call me.

[ The quiet lasts long enough for Sam to focus more attention on the face staring back at him, curious, his eyebrows furrowed slightly, but he waits rather than blurting anything into the silence. For a young man that has so much weighing on his shoulders as far as guilt and responsibility and secrets, both new and old, his expression is comparatively open. It takes more than a long silence to make him uncomfortable.

He doesn't consider himself dangerous, though he is, at least not to anyone who doesn't deserve his dangerous side.

If that changes - which it might, if he were to admit that to himself - well, he'll find it harder to bury those worries so deep that they don't occasionally reach the surface. ]

Yeah. Sam Winchester.

[ He's clearly not used to using his real name with strangers, but he offers it now without hesitation. The usual reasons for him to go by an alias don't seem to apply here. ]

I live over in the Prospero Townhomes. If you're ever in that part of town and feel like dropping by.

[ Seems fair, since Will's already put his general area out there. Presumably he was telling the truth about it, it's hard to imagine why he would bother doing this at all if he wasn't. ]
