[ The feed opens on Mako, pulling his hand away from the Fluid. He looks very serious, and more than a little awkward, sitting stiff-shouldered in a chair with a carefully-white background behind him. After a beat, he looks up, clears his throat, and starts talking. ]
Hi, everyone. If I could have your attention, there are a couple things I wanted to say. First, the dream is breaking.
[ As if on cue, there's a distant crash, and Mako winces, glancing to the side. ]
Obviously. Uh.
[ He looks down at something for a second, and the back up at the Fluid, like he's checking his notes to get back on track. ]
Things are going to get worse before they get better, and we don't have the luxury of just waiting for them to settle again. We have to be proactive. That means setting aside as much food and clean water as you can, more than you think you'll need. Trust me, you don't want to be in a city with no supply lines and nothing stocked up. We can't rely on real supply lines when we don't even know where our food is actually coming from.
I made a checklist that I'll attach to this message. If you have any extras, bring them to 140 Princess Drive, drop them off on the porch. That's Wu's safe house, for those of you who don't know.
[ There's a rustle of paper as Mako drags his notes closer to himself. ]
Second, I'm looking for people who come from places where time gets... weird. Specifically, I'm talking about multiple timelines, or different versions of people. Different universes or worlds. Abilities that can change time. If you have experience with that kind of thing where you come from, I'd like to talk to you.
That's all. I'll put the checklist below.
Survival Supply Checklist
[ But that is not all. Mako waits for a few silent moments, just watching, but the feed doesn't cut, unless you're Wu. If you're Wu, it stops there.
If you're not Wu, it continues, and Mako huddles a little closer to the Fluid, reaching out to fiddle with something on it in a way that briefly obscures the screen before he pulls back and nods. ]
(Probably) Locked away from Wu
Okay, that... should've worked. Third, I need information on parties. And. Throwing them, for a birthday. Nothing too big.
[ Mako looks, maybe, the most serious he has looked in this whole video, except for the light dusting of pink across the bridge of his nose.]
Don't tell Wu.
[ He reaches out, and this time the feed actually does cut. ]

Okay I've had a minute to think about this.
1, you're gonna cause a panic if you say stuff like that to people. They'll all freak out and raid the shelves which really will create food shortage.
2, I have some beans I can spare.
3, Wu's birthday?

You're right: we have no idea how much longer we have, and when a whole city's competing for the same few supplies, it gets bad. Republic City was a nightmare after the spirit vines showed up, and worse after the invasion. You could barely get noodles for less than a whole paycheck.

Me and my sister made this scarecrow awhile back and it's like enchanted to ward off monsters, I don't know how, weird sodder magic. But I think you guys could use it there more than me.
[Private.]
A birthday party!? Oh my gosh! I am the master of surprise parties. You should definitely throw one of those. We just need to get a banner with his name on it, a cake and about a dozen megaphones.
Think you can do that?

Thank you, Ruby, that would be great. Not everyone's going to stock up, so if there are stockpiles around town we should be able to make up for that.

My best friend from my world last remembers being from the 1980s but I'm from the 1950s and we both kind of have the same memories but some stuff is super different. We're from the same world, know each other, but are from completely different versions of each other's universe.
(Richie's had a Really Shitty version of Eddie, for example.)
And from my world we have powers but from his we don't, I guess. And we're part of this way bigger universe written by this weird sadist author and the timelines are wild. There's this whole thing about gods and a Dark Tower and some dude in shitty dark clothes who has some fetish for a dude with guns, which like, who can blame the dude, but still.
(Someone hasn't taken their daily meds and it Shows.)

On the subject of supplies, that's a good idea and I'll talk to my uncles about getting started. After the disaster that October was, I don't think any of us want to be caught unprepared again.
[Then, Dipper takes a moment to wince, like he's trying to figure out the best way to say this without looking absolutely insane. After a moment he just goes for it.]
On the subject of time and dimensional weirdness: Wow, where should I even start? The time my sister and I got a Time Cop fired from his job because we took his time machine for a joy ride, or the time we found out that a portal was in our basement and my Uncle came out of it after being lost for thirty years in the Multiverse.
Or uh. The fact that that triangle piece of garbage Bill Cipher is from my universe and for a brief period of time he took control over time and space in my world and started an apocalypse.
I have more but these are the big ones.
no subject
Clearly that is not true.
He spares a moment to wince in slight sympathy for how Dipper looks, because wow, he has been there. ]
Time weirdness is common enough that there are cops for it? I'm assuming the time machine let you travel through time. What happened if something changed? Was that a permanent change?
[ Hope you're prepared for one million questions from one very curious detective, Dipper, even if his face goes clearly darker at the mention of Bill. ]

Any experience is more than I have, so I'd like to hear about them, if you have the time. I'm interested specifically in finding out how normal it is for people to be able to mess with time, and what happens when they do. If it causes some kind of chaos, or the if the world just adapts to it and keeps going, or if it splinters off with some alternate timeline.
If those are the right words. I'm just learning about a lot of this. Time is just... time. Where I'm from. The only thing that messes with it even a little bit is the Avatar Cycle.

And, uh...
[He ran a hand through his dark curls uncertainly, biting his lip momentarily while he glanced away from the camera.]
I don't know if it's a 'timeline' thing, but all my friends and I are from different places in time back home. Also, sometimes a person's powers can change as they grow.

You can just call me Mako, and thank you, that would be helpful. Make sure you're stocked up on your own first, and then if you have any leftover, we're low on things like rice and shelf-stable cooking supplies like oil, preserves, stuff like that.
[ Spirits know that Mako likes to be given a specific list of instructions, so he'd be remiss not to hand the same thing to this kid who clearly wants to help. ]
Are you from different places in time here, or can you travel through time at home, too? I'm looking for patterns, mostly. Trying to figure out the differences between the worlds, how common being able to manipulate time in some way really is. It happens so much here that I figured we should be compiling information about it.
[ And then... he lets out a long, slow sigh and lets his fingers shove into already-messy hair. Clearly, he's done this a lot today. ]
I'm hoping it won't be big enough to call in cooking backup, but who knows, at this point? Apparently birthday parties are a bigger deal than I thought.
