I said to myself and others that I wouldn't get into trouble immediately. Well.

I've been keeping track of time and after about a week being in Deerington, I'm stuck at this hotel that everyone has been telling people to avoid. I promise this was unintentional.

Choice is just a strange thing sometimes.

I want to say that the hotel hasn't been bad so far, but we're waiting for the other shoe to drop, correct? Until that happens, I'll be at the bar here. If you're not a murderer, feel free to join me. I know, high qualifications.

What's the criteria of being a murderer? Because I once accidentally murdered a plant by overwatering it.

Involuntary plantslaughter, huh? I think I can let that one slide. I'm mostly looking at those that would gleefully commit multiple acts of homicide around here.

Usually not the sort of people I keep company with.

Clowns. No offense to the normal fellas that earn a living off that, but bad association with them.

Although, I imagine they wouldn't want to be going around in their normal getup in this place. Most of 'em, at least.

I've seen some pretty strange things since being here. Someone walking around in a clown suit would actually be pretty normal.

But I can promise I will not be wearing a clown suit. It's currently in the wash. But I do have the shoes... Would that be a problem?

The important thing is I'm moving forward and isn't reforming criminals a good step? They shouldn't be endlessly tormented for a few mistakes...

Depends on the criminal, but I don't believe we're here to debate ethics right now.

[Manslaughter is technically a lesser charge anyway, but Harvey really isn't in much of a mood to talk about that. Maybe another time.]

I mostly made that comment as a light joke. Didn't fully realize people would take it seriously.

[He's just not going to yet mention any deaths, ruined lives or other damage he caused, inadvertently or on purpose. If they do come up, he'll have excuses or brush them aside.]

From what I hear about this place, you could run into a lot of bad people so murder may not be the best thing to joke about.

I got here not long ago myself - except apparently some other version of me was here before. I didn't get much time to check that out before I found myself at this hotel too.

Mostly that I don't want to be murdered. Haven't experienced that one yet and hoping to delay that as long as possible. Just trying to cut my chances.

Right, we've talked about how people can turn suddenly and this town has actual ghouls and goblins roaming about. Situations that we can't prevent.

But figured that I can try and eliminate the 'get murdered by a fully cognitive bastard' in the mean time.

[Of course, Harvey knows that simply just asking murderers to not come here won't do much, but hopefully there's enough people around anyway.]

Oh, I know I'll get into trouble eventually. Seems impossible to avoid in this town, based on what I've heard.

But I'd like to exercise my ability to choose when I can.

I can see how a positive motivator might be more effective than wielding terror or intimidation, but I've got to admit I'm more familiar with the latter.

Then you're off to a promising start already.

[He at least does Harvey the courtesy of leaving his massive military guard hound in his room to rip up the pillows and cushions to her heart's content since she was feeling restless.

It's not difficult to spot Harvey in the hotel bar and he just sits next to him without waiting to be invited.]
