[ barry is back in deerington after having lived all of season 5 of the flash. what a great time that was trying to discern what emotion chris klein was giving off for a long twenty-four episodes.
as for our emotive speedster, he's feeling a little pensive. the weight of the multiverse is weighing down on his shoulders (thanks, monitor dude) and he'd felt his daughter disappear right between his hands, dissipating into little flakes as time caught up and destroyed her. despite the heaviness weighing him down, he's upbeat. he's barry motherfucking allen, after all.
he's out in his expansive backyard in clarke acres, sitting on the stoop of his house. a golden retriever puppy runs up and down the stairs, sometimes sparking a little like she's got some sort of superpowers. 😉 ]
What would you do if you were given the news that you only had thirty days left to live? What would you do with your remaining days? Bullshirt answers are welcome, too. But I'd genuinely like to know. [ he smiles a little lopsidedly. for those who are familiar with barry, his sparkle isn't quite as blinding as it usually is. he's trying to see the glass as half full and not incredibly intimidatingly empty. ]
Me? I'd like to eat all the Big Belly Burgers in Central City and meet Beyonce. [ the golden retriever puppy, who is conveniently named beyonce, barks behind him. barry turns to look at her with a laugh. ] Not you, Bee.
[ bee barks once, twice. how unfortunate for him. she's amazing. ]
I'd also like to know how people remember those who have gone here. My daughter… [ his hand blocks his mouth and he wipes his face hard. he shrugs, hand falling away, and paints on a very big smile. ] well, I'd just like to remember her.

I think I'd try to visit all the friends I have. Maybe through a big party, but I'd try to make sure those last days were spent doing all the things that made Ruby Rose who she was.
[She frowns more than little concern showing on her face.]
I... Well I'd think about them every day and fight like they were still here beside me. Because... In a way if you do that then they're never really gone. I know if they were still here, they would want me to keep moving forward.
video forever
You want them to keep running.
[ something he once said to iris when things felt impossible. this feels inevitable. ]
I do like the big party idea, though. I really like the little hand size party pies and sausage rolls.
no subject
Yeah. It's not easy and they're going to stumble along the way, but the world isn't stop moving around them either and they should be a part of that.
[That smile turns into more a grin.]
Oh my gosh, those sound delicious right about now. You can have music and maybe a few games. It's just a fun way to let everyone see you one last time, right?
...Are things really that bad for you back home?

Sorry, Barry, he's going to take this to the hypothetical limit. But, then he'll give a poignant answer.
These logic problems are never easy. )
Have all efforts been exhausted to not die in thirty days?

[ or they will be. barry's thought of a plan of attack since coming from the vault to deerington again. it's a long, long list, the equivalent of a crowley rolling a long list gif. all he has to do is plot it out to the very second and implement it once he goes home. ]
It's like this is a fixed point in time. It's going to happen, no matter what. You can't prolong it or avoid it. [ he laughs lightly. ] Sounds a little too final, I guess.
no subject
Final sounds final, yeah. After spending every minute trying to stop it, I'll spend my final time with my brother, hopefully our friend Cas, and kid, Jack. Maybe drinking beer. Talking about the good times. Simple.

he gets it, tho. no judgement. ]
I'm sorry someone killed you.
But you wouldn't just avoid being in the place where you were killed?
[ asks the man who literally changed the timeline to prevent a death. ]

( he doesn't want to think that this would ever happen but if it does, cassie would be is focus entirely. )
You think you could really get Beyonce to meet you?
( honest question! )
video forever or else 🔪
Hell yeah.
[ a nice change in topic, thank you. he scrunches up his face and nods vehemently. ]
I met Kelly once. You meet Kelly, you're a step away from the Queen Bee.
[ bee barks once more. ]

( look, he's not really up to date on all the goings on with girl groups. )
You gonna get Kelly to introduce you to her?

...Probably make amends with my daughter. Take her and my girlfriend to some tropical island somewhere and suffer through the sun while they enjoy themselve.s
[Who is he kidding he'd enjoy it.]
video forever
That sounds like a nice way to suffer.
[ and one that he wishes he could do, but there's too much to do, too many people to prepare. if only he had started this earlier, he could go to that island and try to avoid the crisis. ]
How old is your daughter, if you don't mind me asking?
Re: video forever
[God. He sighs a little sadly but there's a smile on her face.]
Charlie has a doctorate in art history. She's currently studying at the Vatican in Rome.
[He beams.] She's absolutely brilliant. But we're - less estranged than we were but still estranged. Still. You want what's best for them.

...I write it down. What I remember about people who've left. [She looks a little embarrassed about it.] Like, y'know. A diary.

[ barry smiles. ] That sounds like a good plan. Both of those things.
[ he'd like to travel the world, but considering he can't even go on his honeymoon without the city going into meltdown, simply being with his friends, making them smile and laugh, and threatening ralph will merely have to do.
his brows furrow gently together. ] If you don't mind me asking… Do you reread what you write?

I'd try to stop it but if there's no other alternative I would make the most of out that time, spend it with my friends and family. I'd also want to make sure they'd be okay going forward too. [she knows that with praimfaya they had done everything they could to stop it from occurring but as for the premonition her mother had about involving her death, the conversation she had with bellamy comes to to the forefront of her mind considering the advice she tried to pass on to bellamy as her version of a goodbye to him at that time.
she looks a bit surprised though as he continues on and mentions wanting to remember his daughter though before settling on offering some thoughts of her own on that] As for remembering those who have gone— something I usually do involves drawing or write about them. Sometimes writing letters to them so it still feels like they're here in a way. [the latter is something she has picked up more since getting here instead of publicly having one sided conversation aloud over a stupid broken radio she knows would definitely raise a few eyebrows from people]
video forever
I used to draw for work. I never thought of that—usually it's photographs you hold onto. Kind of hard to get a hold of them around here.
[ he chuckles softly.
he'd have a whole notebook filled with just iris smiling if that thought had passed his mind. ]

Have you visited the Goodbye House? That is the general purpose of the place.

I haven't. Have you been? [ remembering himself a moment later, he lifts his hand. ] You don't have to answer that if it's too personal.
