[Louis is usually pretty good with the cheery bullshit. He feels like he's an ace at it at this point. Getting rid of the bad vibes, making people feel better about themselves. It's a point of pride for him that he can do that.

...But last month was a pretty substantial blip. He doesn't look his usual cheerful self when the feed comes on, he looks tired. He rubs the back of his neck, heaving out a sigh.]

Heeeey Deertown. I owe some of you guys a big-ass apology. If I ran into you last month and was a raging asshole, I'm sorry. I hate to use the "it was this buttfuck town" excuse on ya'll but... it was this buttfuck town.

FYI if anyone ever gets trailed by a weird goat, boot that motherfucker as far away as you can. Because chances are it's a demon goat that's speaking in your head, making you say shit you don't actually believe and turning you into a shitty rerun of a Twilight Zone episode.

So... yup. Goat thoughts. Not my thoughts. I'm... really fucking sorry about all of that. Clem murdered the shit out of it and now I have a non-demon goat in my living room. Because that's how exorcisms work I guess?

You've learned. Grown and matured since back then when you were sent to school, Louis. I'm not saying that what you said didn't upset people. But you are apologizing. And I know that's not who you are now. Not anymore. I think everyone else knows that too. Even if it might take time for you to figure it yourself.

[She sighs, a hand rubbing at the back of her neck.]

I know, and I'm trying not to be it just... I don't know. It felt really too close to that for comfort. It's been a while since I've felt like that. I didn't like the trip down memory lane at all.

[ Based on what happens so often around here, Peter's thought that Louis will eventually come back. But there's been some part of him that's been afraid that he might not. Some part of him that couldn't help wondering if maybe he'd lost his friend for good.

So when he sees the video pop up on the feed, there's this rush of relief, mixed with a few other things, but he sees that tiredness in his friend's face and responds to the video right away instead of gives himself the usual time to sit and absorb and work himself up to being able to talk. ]

Hey. [ It feels way too anti-climatic to just say it like that, and Peter gives an awkward little smile. ] I knew there was something creepy about that fucking goat.

[ A fucking demon goat, huh? Well, it's not like he has room to talk with anything involving demons. Poor Louis, Jesus....

Peter's trying to be relatively light-hearted here, not wanting to make the other boy feel worse than he very clearly does. (And again, how many times has Peter had to apologise to people for some shit Paimon pulled?) But he can't help the little catch in his throat when he says the next words. ]

I'm glad you're back.

[Louis is so glad to see Peter, and that's plain to see in his expression. There's a genuine fear lingering behind it all. He said some nasty things to someone who's already struggling with his self-worth. Tore him down like he was nothing. It makes Louis sick to his stomach to think about what he did to one of the best friends he's ever had. ]

[His tone is soft, remosreful. ]

I'm so sorry. More to you than anyone else. You know I don't actually think any of this shit I said, right? Not a single goddamn word. Not ever.

[ Hearing Louis sound like that, so sorry, makes that ache in him deepen. ]

It's okay. Louis, it's okay. [ Peter's own voice is just a soft. He doesn't want him to be so upset with himself. ] It wasn't your fault. Being manipulated by something wasn't your fault.

[ But there's a pause, because.... it would be a lie to say that he didn't wonder if Louis did mean some of it. And Peter takes a soft breath, looking down at his hands. ]

It would be okay, though. If part of you did think some of that stuff deep down. Because you'd have every right to. If maybe on some level you didn't trust me, or... or think I'd turn on you someday. It'd be only natural to think some of those things, wouldn't it?

[ Louis has been.... achingly forgiving and understanding of his whole situation, but Peter is possessed by a fucking demon and maybe... maybe Louis shouldn't trust him so much. Maybe there's part of him deep down that doesn't. And Peter wouldn't resent him for that. ]

[That's pretty firm- he absolutely doesn't. In any way, shape or form.]

Look, I don't always understand everything you're dealing with. It's not exactly my area of expertise? But you've never been anything but my best friend and a person to me here. That shit isn't gonna change even if you end up accidentally opening up a portal and summoning Cthulu or whatever. I'm not afraid of you, I'm not scared you'll turn on me, I don't think you're a monster. You are Peter Graham and I trust you with everything I've got.

[So... he exhales softly, rubbing the back of his neck.]
