[OOC Content Warning: Alcoholism, suicidal thoughts]
[ the phone is pretty intuitive to use, and he puts an alias in when it prompts a user name. The phone itself seems to know exactly who he is, as does the documentation strewn across the counter of this mysterious one bedroom apartment he'd woken up in but... priorities. There was only so much nonsense he could handle at once.
At least the custard in that jar was fucking delicious - if he was a little more concerned for his well being, he probably would've been more careful about ingesting unknown substances but... that ship had sailed a while ago.
Booker's still convinced that this is some kind of fever dream - he's never had a dream quite like this, but it might be an alcoholic hallucination of some sort though he feels... fine.
The confusion is evident on his face, as is his hesitancy to address the camera. ]
Ah...
[ he presses his lips together, his eyes shifting to something in the distance - but what if it isn't a dream or a hallucination?
Shit - this had been a terrible idea.
The camera flips over as he starts trying to figure out how to wipe the video, Booker's face replaced with a jarring view of the apartment - ]

Everything all right?

I ah...
[ it was too late now, he might as well go with it ]
I think I may be a bit lost.
no subject
Do you know where you are? Or see any landmarks?
no subject
[ it's not that part he's having trouble with it's... pretty much everything else
and his head hurts now; he presses a thumb between his eyes, walks over to the window to peek out of it ]
Who are you?
no subject
I can help.

un: eudaimonikos; voice
[Trying frantically not to be on camera, that is - Michael himself is using voice. Normally he's happy enough to do video calls, but he's got the death flu right now. He looks like hot garbage. He also sort of sounds like hot garbage, but that's a little more bearable.]
Switch it to text or something. There's a button.
no subject
Thank you.
Are these files stored anywhere?
no subject
[He's clearly just spitballing here - though Booker can't see it, Michael is literally just lying in his bed with an arm draped over his eyes, not looking at the phone. Death flu sucks.]
no subject
I'll try that.
[ he's about to hang up but... he's not drunk enough to ignore the note of illness in the man's voice, and despite himself he finds himself asking ]
Are you... doing okay?
no subject
[.....]
No, actually, this is the worst. I died a little bit ago, and apparently this is what happens when you die here. But it'll pass. My roommate had it a couple months ago.

[ Cable's almost amused. Almost. ]
no subject
[ there's a huff of amusement - if only cinematography was the height of his worries - and he flips it back around to his face ]
Did you wake up here too?
no subject
[ This place has a lot more monsters but it also has his long-dead mother. ]
This your first time waking up in a weird fucked up place?
no subject
Have you tried finding a way out?
[ he knows what the letter says - but.
Cable's question gives him pause - weird and fucked up? there have been those before. ]
I will say that this is the weirdest. Jury's still out on being the most fucked up. [ Booker sighs, heavily - he anticipates that that will, in fact, also be the case ]
no subject
[ No, he's got some secrets that he plans to take to the grave if he can. ]
This place seems to pull people in from all different times, though, so if you have friends around, they might not have the same memories as you. Just a friendly heads up because I've met a lot of long-dead people from my timeline. Also some people who know some other me who's a fucking asshole.
[ A pause. ]
A bigger asshole.

Greg.
Interesting choice of name.
When did you get here? Need some help?
no subject
[ Booker frowns as he gets a notification - finishes turning off the screen; his frown deepens at the call out of his alias, and he glances at the name. Could it -? no ]
who is this?no subject
You alright?
no subject
no.where are you?[ he doesn't care if it's a trap, he'll deal with that when he's closer - but if it is Nile- ]
