[He doesn't have any apparent issues with the Fluid, to him it's another smartphone albeit one that rolls up like a slap bracelet (not that he intends to use it for that function). David has read the instructions in the box from cover to cover and he's experimented with the apps. Not because he wants to necessarily, he doesn't often have the time for social media, but because there is a utility in knowing his communication device.
When the feed turns on David is sitting at a table the Fluid propped up freeing his hands, not that he's doing much with them aside from steepling his fingers under his chin. He carries his consternation like a brimming chalice.]
From Battle For the Planet of the Apes to The 'Burbs--I wanna be shocked, but preternatural events have this habit of sticking to me...adjacently...Central City and Keystone City are good for it.
[Or directly, he hasn't been sucked into the Speed Force yet, so he can't say he's experienced being in a different dimension, that doesn't mean it's not real.
And while he's on the subject of things that may or may not be real.]
Did anyone else have strange dreams involving a stag or a....[It's just occurred to him that he might be touching on mysticism nonsense, he certainly doesn't buy into dream interpretation and so he'll just shake his head]...nevermind, but any useful information about this place would be appreciated. Anything that answers the six key questions, if there are any answers.
[You know, the 5 W's and 1 H.
In a moment where David appears to be struck with the realization that he's forgotten something important or he just realizes it, he quickly disappears from the frame, coming back a moment later with a wallet his flipping through until he pulls out a business card-sized photograph and holds it up to the camera close enough to be visible.]
If you've seen or if you have any information about this man...[and if this man looks familiar, it might be because he looks a great deal like someone who is already here]...it's important and I'd appreciate it, his name is Hartley Rathaway, though he may or may not go by a pseudonym.
[Yeah, David will just refuse to speak the name Piper into existence.
Flipping the picture over so that he's looking at the image he gives it a significant look before sighing wearily.] That would be the main thing.
[If he's here is he okay, if he's not...well David is of two minds about that.]

Hi there. I'm Gar Logan, aka Beast Boy. So, the dream thing's normal. And there aren't a whole lot of clear answers about the situation, but we're in a place called Deerington, most of the place looks like the 1950s with some anachronisms thrown in for fun, aaand a lot of this is connected to the coma dreams of a girl with extremely potent psychic powers?
[And he smiles as he answers one last question.]
And Harley? He's here alright. [He doesn't know his connection with Harley, but he's really hoping this guy isn't some criminal associate or someone unaware that Harley's on the up and up. Maybe he's just someone close!]
no subject
Beast Boy, huh? I wonder if that's a common alter ego, I know of a Beast Boy who is affiliated with something or other Titans [is it just Titans, Teen Titans, he-doesn't-really-care Titans] So some kind of Leave it to Beaver meets Poltergeist dystopia? I have to wonder, why the 1950s.
[The 1950's weren't particularly kind to anyone, that might be the answer to his question.]
I guess Hartley being here is a mixed blessing, but I'm more concerned with whether or not he's okay. [This is always a point of concern with David, anyway, Hartley seems to have a knack for attracting injuries. Comes witht he territory...not that David should speak.]
no subject
You pretty much summed it up there, just add some more dashes of Stephen King and you should be good! The 'why' is a good question too.. it's possible that this girl might have originally been from that time period, or somewhere that was a lot like it. [Although he's still parsing a lot of the information going around himself.]
He should be doing alright. [He was working through the death flu last time they spoke, but Gar figures he should be back on his feet by now.] You, uh... you're a friend of his?
[It is a bit unusual for someone to call out for Pied Piper in particular! But at least it sounds like he has his best interests at heart.]
no subject
Dystopian nightmare living, it's everything I've always aspired to. [He says so sarcastically] Is there no way out?
[Though if there were he imagines most of the residents wouldn't be here...but then again.]
A friend? [He could just say yes, Hartley is a friend, and Hartley would give him the most incinerating stink-eye for it. So something more noncommital should be satisfactory.] You could say that.
[Hartley is his best friend, after all.]
no subject
Iiii wouldn't call it that even, but, uh, so you have heard of the Justice League. Good! [Although it would be surprising if he didn't, considering what a big organization they are, and a hot topic in the news often.]
Sorry, no dice about finding a way out. If there was, I wouldn't be here right now. [Sure, he's made his friends here, and he does genuinely want to help Sodder and the people of this world... but given the choice, he'd choose to go back home. And maybe see if the numerous other superheroes back there could make solving Deerington's problems a lot easier!]
Then I'm glad I did say that? [He asks a little hesitantly, because that is an indirect answer. So he decides to just say.] Okay, let me just ask you. Are you on the up and up?

There are plenty of recorded notes on this place.
[Normally, Varian is all about sharing the information, but the Hartley thing has got him suspicious. ]
What information do you want about him?
no subject
[Mostly he's just trying to get his bearings so he can figure out the necessary steps to take from here.]
Aside from Hartley being here? Whether or not he's okay would be my main concern.
no subject
...I'm gonna guess you're a friend of his.
[He'd better be.]
He's here. He's- [suffering from the death flu, when Varian last saw him, hmmmm might not be an ideal thing to drop on someone new] he's about as well as he can be, trapped here.
no subject
[David can tell by the squint.]
Yes, you could say I'm a friend.
[Well now David might be shocked to learn about a death flu and that Hartley was affected by it. It's not really something you want to hear where someone you care about it concerned.]
I suspect that would mean different things to different people, I want to assume that optimistically he's not injured or suffering.
no subject
[People with shady pasts have gotta stick together and all that.]
He wasn't injured when I last heard from him. He might still have some sickness hanging around, though. It'd probably do him some good to have a... friend here.
[Because that was a weird way to answer the friend question, David .]

[ Mick's only known the kid a few months, but he knows about their connection back on Hartley's world, at least some of it, and he can't help being a little interested when someone goes looking for fake-him's gay crime son. ]
no subject
[Hartley has friends, that's good, David knows Hartley well enough to know he's better at this sort of thing than David himself.]
To truss him up like a Christmas goose? [Everyone is so suspicious. To be fair he might be as well, but point aside.] I want to know if he's okay.
[Ammended.]

[ Because Mick hating cops is universal. ]
He's been better, but he's alive as far as I know. Best any of us can hope for in this garbage town.
no subject
[Is it a hint? Who knows, but he doesn't elaborate.]
Yeah, I heard that he was sick and not feeling very well and friends have been looking out for him. That's a net positive.

Hartley.
What David is finding more difficult to process is the lack of recognition, does this place do something to memories as well?]
As your boyfriend, it's a moral imperative...but you don't recognize me?
no subject
This place pulls people from different points in the timeline and different universes. The Mick Rory here didn't even know me before this place.
no subject
I guess that would explain a few things, I don't know if it's a comofrt or...[but before he could process all of his feelings he takes Hartley in, pale, tired. He's seen Hartley sick and injured and he knows the face in front of him well enough to know something is just off.]...are you okay?
no subject
[He's not going to mention that this 'flu' is a side effect of dying in this place. There are things his boyfriend from another universe doesn't need to know.]

narrowing his eyes, he scrunches up his face as he curiously stares at the photograph dosing holds tot he camera.]
Why do you have a picture of Hartley in your wallet?
no subject
You'd naturally carry a picture of your partner around in your wallet, wouldn't you? [This isn't so strange is it?] I suppose a better question is who are you and how do you know Hartley?
no subject
hartley never told him he had a partner. why didn't he tell him he had a partner? were they not friends? it's a series of thoughts that whirl through barry's mind within a thirty-second timespan, and he makes a mental note to interrogate hartley later. ]
Oh, I'm his friend. [ maybe???? getting high together is friendship-making, no? he smiles, a little dorkily. ] I'm Barry. Allen.
[ and he's going to snap a photo of hartley at superspeed when this is all over so he can have one in his wallet. ]
no subject
And perhaps he should head Barry off and say that the Hartley here is not the same Hartley he's in a relationship with. Maybe. He's not sure. They look alike and it's confusing.
However when he calls himself "Barry Allen" David forgets that small detail for a moment.]
Barry Allen? I know a Barry Allen, but you're not the same Barry Allen. He's a CSI in my department.
no subject
[ his brows furrow as the words flutter in his head. he replays them quickly, over and over. ]
Are you—You're David Singh.
[ dsingh kind of gave that away. his brain's catching up, give him a moment. ]
I work for you. Still. On Earth-1. We're, uh… tight.
[ there's a looseness to that tightness. ]
