[ the feed turns on to show the viewers a . . . large partridge. yes. a partridge. around 5'6" in height, sitting on a chair, tie around his neck. his beady eyes are fixed upon the screen before he speaks in a cool monotone. ]
Greetings, Deerington. I am Dr. Iwamine, the school nurse. I am a new arrival and I was hoping for your input. How many different species exist in this place? I have noticed a great deal of humans, but are there any others? Do you have any medical charts?
Oh, and don't be put off by my looks. I can assure you, I am extremely well versed in birds and humans, ho ho ho.
Feel free to stop by in person if you wish to chat.

You're a doctor, huh? Know anything about witches?

I'm afraid not. Humans categorize witches as mythical creatures.

A lot. I have some medical records kept on a bunch of different species - though obviously, they're private.
(HIPPA, man. Bird.)
The biological diversity here is off the charts. Being a medic of any kind here means thinking on your feet with every patient. Are your normal patients....(Eddie is so fucking tired.) Birds...and humans?
no subject
Humans are rare, but I have the medical expertise to treat them. We only had one human student in our school.

I don't know that we have a truly accurate catalogue of species. They coe and go too often to keep consistent logs, though some are more common than others. Humans obviously.
no subject
[ other than so many humans. or creatures that resemble humans. that's a bit jarring still. ]
So there is no log for every person that arrives here?

[Well, this is definitely not a human on the screen. More like a blind demon that had crawled his way out of Hell. Regardless, Maul looks very tired and worn down. He doesn't really know what kind of creature is on the screen, but even if he knew, he wouldn't care. It's amazing how many sentient animal species are in the galaxy he's from.]

I'm pretty sure you could find all sorts of species here. If anything, a lot of humans around here aren't exactly entirely human either. Or.. well, not like regular humans, anyway. [ Though still on a much more human level than a talking bird, thanks. ] .. And I think I spoke to a talking lion one time too.

No medical charts, but they put your species on your ID card when you come in.

Edgeworth, for his part, does a remarkable job of rolling with it.]
Dr. Iwamine. I was not aware that there was a medical school that catered to partridges. [This is said with absolute seriousness. He means every word without sarcasm.] I have seen only humans as of yet - but I am also a new arrival. I...find it difficult to believe that there are other sentient species aside from humans and - [He wavers slightly.] Well...partridges. One of my prosecutors has a hawk for a legal assistant, but...
[He clears his throat.]
Miles Edgeworth, Chief Prosecutor - at least, in Los Angeles. Not so much, here. It's nice to meet you.
no subject
[ a prosecutor. this place really draws on all types. ]
It can be a bit of a struggle to adapt our world views. I am fortunate enough to have lived among humans and birds. We coexist in harmony, more or less.

You're more articulate than most humans I've encountered. So far as I know, the majority of inhabitants who have arrived here are, for the most part, humans. And then there is the entity who summoned us here, who it appears is only partly human... [Letting that sink in.]
