So, I've heard rumors that there's a mountain, or hill, around here that shows different people different things when they climb to the top of it. I, and at least one other, plan on climbing to the top of it to see what we can observe. This trip is largely intended to be scientific, though I've been warned that there could be monsters along the way as well.
Especially given ... [he makes a vague gesture[ the state of this place on a regular basis.
If anyone else has been to the top of it, I'd love to hear what you found. Even if it's only second hand. In addition, if you'd like to be part of the group that's heading up there, please let me know. The more people we have the more information we're going to gather.
[OOC: Log post link for those who want to go and start top levels or start logs with others on the way up is right here!]

[So there.]
There were a lot of monsters up there. Places you could just fall off the mountain, too.

So I'll beat the crap out of some monsters and I won't fall off the mountain.

Link, wasn't it? I appreciate the help. I didn't know you were interested in science.

I always want to do science.
[See, his friends have been trying to get him outside all month and all they needed to do was tell him it was for science. ]
Do you know what causes it? Have you got the means to take samples of anything that could potentially do that? I mean- I can help with that. I have a portable alchemy set.
video
We don't. That's part of what we want to discover. The key to this investigation is going to be the visual phenomenon at the top. My partner reports that when he looks down at the town from up high what he actually sees is his own home. The question is what causes this. Current hypothesis is that it may be a secondary layer of reality, similar to how it can alter our perceptions here but in a more permanent way.
Of course it could just as easily be hallucinogenic, or any other variety of alteration. We won't know more until we get up there.

If you need some back up count me in.
Back home I'm a Huntress. Which I get that a lot of worlds don't have. But it's basically our job to fight the monsters that inhabit our world and protect the people.
So I'm pretty well suited to doing work like this.

[He's looking at you, Jon.]
So the more fighters we have, the better. Ideally we won't be attacked at all, but in a place like this I'd rather not leave it to chance.

I haven’t been up there before, but I definitely wanna explore! When do we head out? Should I bring anything? I have a kitchen knife and a pocket Latin-to-English dictionary.
video
I haven't been up yet either, but my partner has. So I have at least some information about what we should expect.
I'm going to see who all is interested in coming, and based on that we'll formulate specifics on when to meet. The base of the mountain has a staircase though, so we can gather at the bottom of that. I'll reach out to everyone once we're ready.
The knife sounds helpful, but I'm not sure how much latin we'll need.

Should you wish to preemptively hit me with a spoon I will accept this as my price of admission.
Re: text; un: lotor
You think you're being funny, but I will act if you put any of the group at risk.

Looks like you've got a bunch of volunteers already. How many folks are you hoping to take along?

The more the merrier. The more eyes we have the more observations we can record when we get to the top. Plus there's that old adage about safety in numbers.

Nothing fancy. Mostly I want to get the perspectives of several people as we observe some phenomenon, and the more people who are scientifically trained the better. We have a working theory about how the mountain manages to provide different ... effects than other parts of town.

If your team's not full up, I'd be interested to come along. I'm a researcher here and back home so I'm always interested in whatever new information I can gather.

I'll go. There's two morons on here who'll try and climb up the mountain and think they can survive by eating bullets and drinking science goo.
[ Three guesses who. ]
voice
I-- am not incredibly familiar with most of the people in this group right now. [He's a little on the antisocial side.] If there are people here who plan on eating bullets I'd appreciate the name so I can give them some babysitters on the way up.

Punching stuff and mountain experience is good. And you're the second person to mention boats. What's up with the boats?
[He pauses.]
Wait, you've been up there before?
