[To bring some levity to the current dramatic tension - and death (a lot of deaths) - Xue Yang is laying on his back under a tree, a broken branch beside him. There is a plaintive meow in the canopy above and he scowls at the source of the sound.]

I fell out of a tree. [Duh.] Daozhang Zichen? I'm not sure I'm in one piece and my head really hurts.

[All for a cat.]

I was trying to rescue...a cat. It looked like it needed help anyway.

[Now he tries to push himself up, grimacing inch by inch.]

[ His name being called catches his attention. Of course it does. And then the sight has him wince in sympathy as he toggles the feed to video. ]

Where are you?

Stay down. [ Yep, that last bit is a bit sharper a scold than precisely needed, but...Xue Yang, you worry him! ]

[Oh there he is! Xue Yang gives him a grin, but it doesn't last. His head feels like someone hit it with a club!]

You know that grove of trees next to the park? I was taking a walk and she started yowling at me...

[He immediately lays back down, preferring it.]

I bet you can follow her voice. She's loud.

[ Line face is line face. But he nods slightly at the immediate obedience as he starts for the park. ]

I am not far. Do not move until I get there and make sure you will live.

[ He's pretty sure Xue Yang won't die again just from a fall like that, but...it's a sign that he cares enough to get upset. ]

[The worry is...new. He doesn't want to anger Zichen or make his affection for him diminish. So of course he follows his orders.]

My head is pretty hard.

[ Zichen doesn't worry about Xue Yang going off again anymore. He worries about his health and well-being, instead. ]

I am well aware of that.

[ So very hard-headed! ]

I think you like that about me. [Is he really flirting while he probably has a concussion? You bet!]

It's kept you alive. [ STRAIGHT FACE

Zichen ends the feed there as he steps into the park and listens for the yowling cat before heading for Xue Yang. He kneels beside him and sets to work checking him over with gentle hands. ]

Do you need something for the pain?

[He laughs - but not too much. His head rings like a bell with every word and he feels pretty sick. Xue Yang is fairly accustomed to concussions and they all suck.

Zichen, however, is a wonderful sight!]

We should hold onto that stuff for emergencies.

[Pain isn't anything new. He'll deal and maybe dampen it with wine. Is that safe? Sure.]

Doesn't she sound sad?

[ Glut. Zichen doesn't quite roll his eyes, but pulls out a bottle of wine from him qiankun pouch. Quickly uncorking it, he offers it to the other man. ]

She does. Once I have checked you over, I will get her down. Then we'll go home.

[ Where he will sit on his lover until he's healed up if he has to! ]

[It was inevitable. Wine cures so many things for a man like Xue Yang! ~~And Wei Wuxian.~~ The fact that Zichen knows his tendencies makes him smile faintly. Awww, his Daozhang pays attention!

Raising himself onto his elbows, he takes a few long drinks.]

You think she's cute?

[She is and she knows she is, thank you.

Also please sit on him? Please?]

[ Of course he's noticed! Zichen helps support him and keep the bottle steady until he seems done, then recorks the bottle and tucks it away for later.

He glances up into the tree above to study the beautiful feline peering back at him. ]

She is.

[ He focuses a moment, then presses fingertips to Xue Yang's forehead to push some healing energy into him - just a little, just enough to ease his mind.

Then pulls back and stands before leaping into the trees. He's a bit more careful than he thinks Xue Yang was! ]

[The world steadies around him thanks to the healing energy and the wine numbs the pain. He gazes at Zichen in pure adoration and then, slowly, rises to his feet. His back is sore too and he holds it, wrinkling his nose playfully at the cat above. She seems to take to Zichen, trotting along the branch and into his arms with a sweet mew.]

Traitor. [He grumbles, but there is a small smile on his lips.] Yeah, yeah, I know. I like him better too.

[ Zichen restrains his smile as he picks the feline up and settles her against his chest before leaping down. He reaches for one of Xue Yang's arms to help steady him. ]

I can carry you on my back.

[ He doesn't quite like how his mate is standing. ]

It's my back; I need to stretch it out. [He chuckles softly and rubs over the cat's fluffy head.] Just take care of the princess.

[Her tail is swishing contentedly. She has gotten what she wants.]
