Text: UN - Runeseeker (CW: Mention of Death/Death Effects/Death Flu/Poss. Comfort Sex)
[Someone was not in great shape right now. She was exhausted, barely coherent, and felt like ass. But this wasn't new. She knew what this felt like, and the items she kept stored to protect her memories were working again. She'd been directed to them, and things were coming back fuzzily. It was awful, but it was working.
But without Moira around, she wasn't sure if Leonard was yet up to curing the death flu of this place, and she figured she'd endure a week of it. The only way to keep her mind off of things, though, was to try and be useful. It had been Moira who had explained these things before, so she supposed it fell to her.]
This is a bit of a Public Service Announcement, as others have called them in the past.
If you die in Deerington, you will return to life seven days later, roughly. When you do, there will be bad things that happen, getting progressively worse each time. Should you experience differences in these, please inform me so that FEAR can keep updated records...
First Death) You will have the worst flu of your life for one week, followed by aches, pains and trouble sleeping for a month. Some have been able to mitigate this symptom, but there is no guarantee.
Edit: I have been reminded that there are nightmares of the time you died in this month. Forgive me, but separating the nightmares of the first and fourth month is difficult.
Second Death) You will lose some or all of your memories of your homeworld, for about two months, along with the first effect. Very few have been able to mitigate this symptom, but more extreme methods have worked for one or two.
Third Death) Your memories lost will include memories from this world as well as home, for about three months, along with the first two effects. Sometimes memory loss is for three months period for both types. Methods of mitigating this effect are about as successful as the second Death.
Fourth Death) All of the first three effects apply, and for about four months, you will have terrible nightmares of being dragged out of your bed to your doom, only to wake up screaming after sleepwalking somewhere. This will happen repeatedly and is very inconvenient when you are on a boat. No mitigation has yet been successful, other than strapping the victim down to the bed every night, which is not good on the back. I recommend having friends keep tabs on you, or just not dying four times.
I cannot recommend not dying four times highly enough.
Fifth Death) One of your senses will become wrong. We have only one known case of this, and it has caused the victim to suffer near total loss of the sense of touch, along with the attendant balance and coordination issues. If things track consistently, it is harder to mitigate and will last for five months. I'll report on that fact in five month's time.
The best cure, again, is NOT TO DIE FIVE TIMES.
Be careful, because the enchanted forest is extremely hazardous, even to veteran combatants.
EDIT:
Sixth Death) Hypothesized - You will somehow be trapped in the state of being of the way you were killed for six months, along with everything else. I cannot confirm this, and for the love of all that is holy I don't ever want to. However, we had visions in a sweat lodge months ago. I remember it vividly. I was carrying around my decapitated head, as if it had been for a long time.
I am pretty sure it was because I'd died. The vision might have been fake, but let's be honest, it's a VERY logical possibility.
To my fellow FEAR members, and those under me in the magic department, I will be taking the week off. I am in need of a new magical focus, and will be looking into solutions to that problem when I am feeling better. If you absoutely require my expertise, please contact me via text because my head is throbbing right now.
Private Text to Keith:
You and I discussed using each other.
If that is on the table, you are invited to use my services every night until I can sleep without seeing what happened.
I don't care if people would judge me.
I just want to sleep, and I can't get the images out of my head.
Yes. If you can tolerate this wretched death flu, the offer extends to right. fucking. now.

what's FEAR?
[sounds fun.]

Apparently, Reaper and I don't even do dying in half measures.
Research/Defense group. We fight monsters when we can, prepare for events and try to coordinate with what's going on.
It's hit and miss because of people waking up.

and after my 2nd death, i only forgot Earth-616 for 1 month, not 2.
who knows, maybe i'm just special?
[ PRIVATE: ]
you okay? you need anything?

Effects vary somewhat from person to person. Moira was clear on that.
Private:
To get through this terrible fucking week.
A new weapon.
And to not die again.
Those things would be lovely. So very lovely.
I could maybe use something in a week, when I am just aching all over, but not being able to feel things is surreal, strange.
Walking is taking practice, which I can't believe I'm saying.
permaprivate.
[ that's... possibly an insensitive comparison but it's all Gwen's got. ]
out of all the senses you could lose, touch might be the worst one. Creepsville is really fucking you over this time.

What's FEAR?

We fight and research monsters and awful things in this place.
Pidge, is that you?
When did you get back?
no subject
Sounds like a good time.
And yea, it's me.
I've been here for a little while. There were poltergeists?
[How long has it been? Hmm...]

Action
The Doctor, of course, is running to the door. He hasn't left the house much. Between Simon patching The Doctor up and Aziraphale's death and then Vira disappearing so close. Someone hasn't has been in the best mental health.
Vira will get a hearts-filled hug and will be careful to not squeeze tight. He's so, so, glad to see her again.]
CW: emetophobia is a possible issue in this thread, cause... flu. (Doc, mention if you don't want)
[Her body was squeezed, and she dropped something that clattered and rolled on the ground, undamaged. It was some sort of household item from a collection of other househoold items in a black case by her bed. Odd.
Susan 'warked' nearby and she tried to control the urge to ... well, she controlled it for the moment.]
If...you hug me... tighter, sir... going to puke all over you.

It seems like there are a lot of monsters, so I guess... those would be a problem.
no subject
Monsters or horrific events, about 3/4 of the time.
The other 1/4 are moments when one of us goes insane from something here and hurts someone else.
There are a few legitimate murders, but they're very rare.

What can I do? [The answer may very well be 'nothing', but it's only right to ask.]

Two, please do not die. You do not need to go through this.
Three, a status report on the orcs would be nice.
I am getting chicken soup and fizzy water. That is all I can take for about a week. There's not much you can do for that. This flu is magical.

I've been told what likely happens to a Sleeper who dies too many times; I hope nothing like that happens to anyone.

But at least it has some use.
You mean seven? the rumor about the deer and turning into one?
I've heard it as well. It may be the seventh.
