Uh - hey. [ billy lifts his hand and swipes it sideways out of frame in an awkward sort of half wave, smiling slightly with his mouth closed. ] My name's Billy.
I guess a lot of us have received a bag from the, uh - from the deer? [ which is still kind of odd to him - he's still getting used to the delivery dogs, but. moving on. ] Or… from whoever Ramona is, but. There was a letter inside mine. My friend got the same letter, and so did someone else I know, so I’m assuming everyone got it. Same bag, same contents, same letter.
[ he pauses for a moment, like he's still not sure if he wants to put this out there, because it comes pretty close to fear-mongering, even though that's not the purpose of this. absently, he pushes his fingers through the floppy bit of his hair near the front, raking it away from his face. it falls right back into place. ]
I don't want to like - scare anybody or anything, and I might be totally wrong, but. The letter kind of makes it sound like we might be headed toward some kind of shortage of... resources? [ billy pauses again to lean slightly out of frame, very obviously reaching for something, and when he leans back in, he’s got an old-looking goblet-style cup in his hand. it should look familiar to anyone who’s opened their bag. billy gives it a little wiggle. ] I mean... a cup that purifies water, and— hold on.
[ he sets the grail down and leans out of frame again to grab something else, comes back with... something wrapped up in large leaves. whatever it is, he doesn’t unwrap it, but he holds it up, off to one side so everyone can see it. ]
And this. This is lembas. [ if he seems a tiny bit more alert and enthusiastic, well. there’s a reason for it, but it’s very nerdy and pretty irrelevant. this is supposed to be informational, not the time for him to geek out. he continues. ] In the letter it says that lembas will help those who find themselves with little to eat - and that’s right. I know it doesn’t seem like much, but—
[ and he pauses here for a moment, gesturing with the wrapped waybread, seemingly contemplating something very briefly before he continues on. he is most definitely about to quote something, because when else will he get this opportunity? ]
—one small bite is enough to fill the stomach of a grown man.
[ billy smiles a little to himself, then puts the bread down out of frame, taking a moment to regain some of the seriousness he lost in - quoting an elf prince. ]
... Anyway. It's safe. My friend and I tried it just to be sure, but - if you still don't trust it or you want to make sure yours is fine too - [ he pauses here, like he's unsure about this next part, if he even wants to offer this much for personal reasons, but - well. all he's ever wanted to do is help people, so, ] - I can... take a look at it for you. Just - don't throw it away.
[ billy offers one last smile and awkward, parting wave, similar to the one he opened up with, reaching toward the screen, presumably to end the video. ]
... Okay. Thanks. Bye.

luckily i live with a total nerd who gave me a complete lecture on the bags
the part that i dont like is the tarot card
no subject
does food ever just. go bad? that's my main concern
if i stock up on some stuff, is it just going to rot?
i got a card too, but i don't really know anything about tarot.
i mean i've been reading what i can find in the library, but it all seems
a little broad?

or with shortages?
i guess it doesn't really matter because the answer to both is... no.
i haven't been here for very long though.
someone i know said there was a shortage of resources when they first got here, and that was before i was here.
[ someone they both know, but. details. ]

Thank you. Also did you see the palantirs in the woods? People need to leave them alone.
video;
... No. I, uh - I haven't been into the woods in a while. [ he's been avoiding them for other reasons - firefly-related reasons. he takes a second to try and process that there are palantirs in the woods, and what that could possibly mean. ] Where in the woods? Someone - someone should cover them. Mark them off or, or - something.

I agree, though. I've been stockpiling, and getting together what a friend of mine called a bug out bag. Just to be on the safe side, I've kept everything in that Gondorian satchel.
no subject
[ he's kidding... or is he? ]
that's not a bad idea, though.
my friend and i were going to grab some stuff and like
stick to one of our houses, just in case something does happen
so at least we won't end up separated if this turns out to be the prelude to
i don't know, an orc invasion?
hahaha.
[ ha ha ha. ]

maybe see if you can pick up some non-perishables
things that won't go bad for a while just in case, like canned foods and/pr dry items.
make sure you know where your cup is, and keep the bread wrapped up until you need it
it'll go a long way.

Do you know anything about the card?
audio;
I wouldn't say it's brave. I just want everyone to be prepared if something does happen, and in the short time that I've been here, food that's come from non-sleepers seems to have been... tampered with. So I wanted to make sure people didn't throw out something that could help.
I... don't really know too much about the cards, though. My friend and I went to the library to read up on a few things, so I might be able to offer a little bit of help? I'm in no way a professional, though. Do... you know what your card is?
audio: alexreagan mention of ABO stuff just generally.
And when you combine that with like how people have increased strength and healing right now, it seems like Sodder and Ramona know that something bad is coming and are trying to make us prepared.
Do you know if they've done things like this before?
audio;
Yeah. Yeah, actually, that's - a really good comparison. That's exactly what it feels like. [ he pauses for a moment. ] Not that that's comforting at all, but I'm glad someone gets it.
[ alex, he means. not ramona and sodder - he barely knows anything about them, if he's honest. ]
I'm... not sure. I haven't really been here that long, but this is the first time I've received anything from either of them, aside from the basket I think everyone gets when they get here.

Video. UN: Woody
[The grumbling belongs to a very short fellow, one that is currently standing on a kitchen table, rubbing a plastic hand down the front of his face as he RADIATES ANXIETY AND CONCERN AND ALL THINGS WEARY.]
Not again.
video;
I mean, I could be wrong! Hopefully I'm wrong, but I just - I don't want people to be caught by surprise or unprepared. I've heard it's... not such a good idea to take food offered from non-sleepers, so I wanted to make sure people didn't throw out something that could be useful if it turned out to be harmless, just because it came from - whoever Ramona is.
[ he pauses, rubbing the back of his neck for a moment. ]
But... you're not the first person to mention a shortage happening before, so... I guess it could always happen again.
