Indie Artist Tries To Counter Debt Industry Propaganda

Hey, everyone! Maybe you've noticed that America's debt industry -- based on legalized loan-sharking -- has created an economic crisis that threatens to go global. On a more local level -- millions of families are facing home foreclosures and bankruptcy. And the credit card offers just keep flowing into our mailboxes.

"The avalanche of propaganda from the US debt industry with offers of 'cheap' credit is downright immoral as millions of families see their homes foreclosed," noted NY-based multi-instrumentalist/arranger/composer/producer Polarity/1. "Having long worked on the subject, I felt I had to do something in order to educate Americans and counter the propaganda"

In debt? A community for you

indebtedness is a community devoted to debt. Bankruptcy, past due bills, getting out, you name it, this is the place for it. A place to bitch, a place to find help, and a place to ask questions.

Come check it out. Maybe it can stop your slide from bad to worse, and improve your situation. Before you hit rock bottom. If you're already there? You'll find support and commiseration. And maybe a little advice along the way.

Debt+money=Yay

I feel ya'll.  I have around a $1,000 in debt to work off.....makes me waaay sad.  So I've been trying to find ways to get extra cash and I've been  looking into those online things where youfill stuff out and get cash and I actually found one, well a couple, that are pretty sweet.  Here's my current fave.  It's actually kind of addictive ^_^

I'll try not to sound like a scammer, but this actually works pretty well.  You just take surverys and stuff and can redeem it for money.  I've been on it for about 24 hrs and I've made $2!  Not a lot, but $2 more than I had to start with!  IT's totally free, some of the offers try to rip stuff out of you, but you can avoid those pretty easy.  The site's pretty fun and I dig it, so if you want to get involved, just follow this link:

Credit card debt saga...

Hi,

I decided to start a blog a couple of weeks ago to chronicle my arduous journey of paying down my debt. I'm in over my head but I've decided that it's now or never. I'm not getting any younger and want to start a family at some point. With my bills the way they are, the future is not looking bright...so I'm going to hunker down and pay it off...

erasing my debt - one day at a time

It's also syndicated on lj at erasedebt. Take a look to see how my progress is coming if you are interested...

Thanks! :)

Hi all,

I'm a freelance reporter for a major national women's magazine. I'm seeking to interview a woman between the ages of 20 and 45 who used one particular method to get out of debt. The method can be almost anything -- such as finding new ways to cut household costs, consolidating credit card payments, freezing credit cards in an ice cube, going to a debt counselor, making a budget for you and/or your family, etc.

If you or a woman you know has gotten out of debt and wants to share the one method you used to get out of debt in a national magazine, please send me a brief write-up of your story. Please include the problems you'd had with money, the method you used to successfully get out debt, how you came to try this method, how long it took to work and how your money situation is today. Also, please include your name, age and what state/city you're from.

My email is GLichterman[at]aol.com.

Only one story will be chosen. If your story is chosen, you will be interviewed by telephone by me and be profiled in the magazine. Your name and photo will appear in the magazine, so you also have to be okay with that.

My editors will pay a modest fee to the woman whose story is chosen and, in most cases, send a professional photographer to take your picture.

I look forward to getting your story!

Best,
Gabrielle

Realistic Credit Repair

In My Opinion -- The author misses the most obvious and best answer to this question. Tell FICO and the credit card companies to KISS IT. You don't need credit cards to live, regardless of the myth constantly perpetuated in our consumerist culture. If you do, you're living beyond your means. Perhaps she did need them to survive when her husband was unemployed, but now he has a job. And of course, her perfect credit is shot, no matter how hard she worked ot keep it, because credit card companies are unreasonable.

She is not using credit now to purchase items bc her cards are at the limit, so the credit she has now is nothing but a burden of debt, not a tool. She alreay has a mortgage and a car loan, and those are the main reasons one should be concerned with a credit score, bc the credit score will affect your ability to purchase a car and a house.

She should tell those companies to take their FICO Score and cram it Right. Up. Their. You-Know-What. Pay off your debt, because you signed that loan form and you used their money to buy things and therefore you have a responsibility. But other than that, just stop using those stupid cards. Why in the world should we all dance to their stupid tune???

The issue of FICO scores makes me froth with rage, for very good reasons I won't go into at the moment. I've yelled about it enough before.Collapse )

Free yourself from this false paradigm, that's all I'm saying. You don't HAVE to make nice with credit card companies just because they can blackmail you with some mysterious FICO score over which you have little to no control.
