All I want for Christmas is...?

If you answered that question with "Fic! Art! The way I like!" then you're in the right place. This is a fannish secret Santa fic exchange, where a Santa will be assigned to produce fic or art according to your prompts. In return, you will become a secret Santa for another member. This exchange accepts all requests (het, male-slash, female-slash, gen), and all fandoms, although at least one of your requests and abilities to write/draw must be in the Harry Potter fandom.

Sound like fun? Here's the deal:

1. Email significantowl at significantowl@ yahoo.com (take out extra space) to join. Emails must include

a) a statement that you are over eighteen (or giving your age if you are not)
b) a list of your ficcish or artish desires and likes, including at least one broad Harry Potter scenario (example: Harry/Hermione, foreign travel). Unless you specify otherwise, we will assume you will be happy to receive either fic or art.
c) a list of things you feel comfortable writing/drawing (one of which should be Harry Potter)
d) a list of things you feel UNcomfortable writing/drawing
e) your lj username (if you have one).

Clarifications on the submission info:
* We are stressing flexibility! Be adventuresome in what you'll accept and what you'll take on. The more likes and can-writes/draws you list, the easier matching members and Santas will be. However, you should be sure to include a thorough list of can't-writes/draws as well. We want you to have fun with the prompts you receive, not stress.

* There is a cap of 25 participants. This is meant to be a small, friendly exchange.

* This is a multifandom community, but members should include at least one Harry Potter request and be able to produce one Harry Potter piece if necessary. This is to make sure all Santas have one common fandom in case Santa is not familiar with a requestor's other fandoms.

* Once you have received a confirmation e-mail in reply, please join the community.

* You are encouraged to post a 'dearsanta'lettertothecommunity, but it's not required.

DEADLINE for signing up: 5pm EST, October 9th

2. Fics should be at least five hundred words.

3. All ratings are welcome.

4. Fics must be spell-checked and, if possible without giving the surprise away, beta-read. lore or significantowl will be happy to beta for you if needed, or find you someone who will.

5. Gifts will be posted using the journal jolly_old_elf to preserve anonymity. You will receive the password with your assignment. This means you are responsible for posting your own Gift anonymously. If you produce an R- or NC17-rated piece this year, we have an Elf journal at JournalFen for you to use.

6. Gifts are to be emailed to the mods by January 3. The mods are collecting gifts in order to ensure that every recipient has one before posting begins. On January 4, they will begin assigning pinchhitters for all unreceieved gifts. Posting of gifts to the community will begin on January 7. The journal password will not work before that date!

7. You are free to guess the identity of your Santa after your gift has been posted. Identities will be revealed after all gifts have been posted. You may archive elsewhere at that point.

8. Members who did not fulfill commitments last year may not participate this year.

9. Winter/holiday themes are fun, but not required.

10. After your assignment is completed, feel free choose another member to write/draw for from any posted "Dear Santa" letters if you'd like.
