Why the hell have comments just become a venue for anger? It’s just a movie. It’s a product. No one is pretending it isn’t. Why is the first instinct to read politics in anything that is said? Who the hell cares? It’s a film. Enjoy it or don’t enjoy it but don’t get angry about it.
Not sure it was the best idea for James Gunn’s brother to say Superman was an immigrant. No, he was not. Superman was an orphan from another planet who ended up on earth by sheer accident.
I haven’t seen a Superman since the Christopher Reeve era but did like the preview I saw in the theater and was planning to see it in a theater. Not so sure now
As for this idea that Superman is not an “immigrant, was here born in the United States, genius? No, he was born someplace else and landed in America to be adopted by midwestern farmer parents. So, all those photos Superman with the American flag and that line of Superman fighting for “Truth, Justice and the AMERICAN WAY” are being voiced by an immigrant who was taken in by kind Americans.
Superman isn’t a comic anymore and isn’t just a movie or tv character. it is only a commodity to be exploited over and over again by the same studio till the end of time. We’ve been doing this dance since 1978 and just keep on returning with diminishing returns. The fact that this film needs to eb filled with an entire cast of superhero’s that DC wants to also launch isn’t because of story. It’s because of a spreadsheet in an accounting department and a marketing plan set forth by WB marketing. it’s gross and greedy.
You are an idiot for making that comment about not going to see any movie because they used the term immigrant
& what’s it called when someone moves to a place other than where they were born? I’m sure there’s a word for it, maybe you know?
Who are these people?
Not the Hollywood celebrities we use to pay money to go see in the cinema.
The box office will lose at least 30% of what it was on track for because James put his political foot in his mouth. There’s an industry wide memo that’s been sent out to remind everyone of this but James ignored it. Amazing that he could be so naive.
His political comments were intentional. Gunn knows word of mouth could potentially tank his movie so he’s using the self generated controversy as a way to save face. Just in case…
Rachel Brosnahan is so so beautiful, stunning
