Fabian Jäger hat dies geteiltFabian Jäger hat dies geteiltOur recent team workshop in Berlin was an incredible experience, not only because we had the opportunity to meet most of our colleagues and team members face-to-face, but also because it allowed us to share perspectives and shape the future of Mailbutler. Over the course of three days, we engaged in various workshops organized into different stations. Here's a glimpse of what we accomplished: Improving communication and connection: We encouraged everyone to reflect on their perceptions of the company and the team as a whole through illustrations. This exercise featured similarities and insights across our diverse teams, strengthening our culture. Emphasizing core values: We analyzed each of our core values as a collective and then split into smaller groups to share our individual perspectives on what these values truly mean to us. Through this exercise, we discovered a shared understanding and identified practical applications in our daily work lives. Turning words into action: Dividing into groups of three, we identified and defined key priorities and focus areas for our company. Each group presented its core items, leading to constructive discussions and the categorization of these items into four groups representing the most crucial topics requiring further action. Overall, the Mailbutler team workshop significantly improved our communication, collaboration, and mutual understanding. We also gathered important insights that will continue shaping our future and commitment to being better day by day! Check the full story in our blog post: https://buff.ly/3DgLRYx

Fabian Jäger hat darauf reagiertFabian Jäger hat darauf reagiertThis week I went to a test to qualify as a lifeguard. One part: dive four meters down and bring up a two kilo ring. First try, I pushed off and went up almost immediately. The impulse wasn't strong enough. The air wasn't deep enough. My head was loud. Too blurry. Too deep. I don't know if I can do this. Second try, same. Third try, I told myself it's now or never. Mind blank. Impulse sharp. Air just enough. Four meters sounds like nothing. It feels like a lot. Once I was down there, the only thing in my head was the ring. I grabbed it, turned, and pushed for the surface. The last fifty centimeters I had no air left. But I saw the light. There's a line I heard once and never forgot: The warrior knows if he'll win the fight the moment he unsheathes his sword. The first two tries, I knew I wouldn't make it. The third, I knew I would. Leaving my architecture career behind to start Power of Life Labs GmbH feels exactly like that. All I know is my sword is drawn.

Beides — was heute läuft und was kommt — diskutieren wir gerne persönlich. Stand B23, 13.–15. Mai. Fabian Jäger gefällt dasFabian Jäger gefällt dasWhat if you replaced flaps with something more radical — an entirely different aircraft configuration for slow flight? Every GA aircraft solves the fast-slow problem the same way: flaps. Deploy them for takeoff and landing, retract them for cruise. It works, but the airframe is always a compromise between the two regimes. I spent several months exploring a different answer: a four-seat blended wing body that flies as a clean BWB in cruise — no canards, minimal frontal area, low drag — and extends canards from the fuselage for slow flight, adding lift where it matters most. Not flaps on the same wing, but a whole new lifting surface that appears only when you need it. The target: 250 KTAS at 10,000 ft with a 300 hp normally-aspirated engine, within CS-23 specifications. The project went through the full conceptual design cycle: classical sizing from Roskam and Torenbeek, geometry and aerodynamics in OpenVSP and VSPAERO, stability analysis, and performance evaluation with a Python toolchain I built for the project. This is the first in a series of seven posts. The question that drove the whole design: how small a wing can you get away with — and still have an aircraft that is stable, trimmable, and slow enough to land?

10 days ago, Lizzy Stein, Philipp Hugenroth, Sandesh Sharma, Philipp Wahler, and I teamed up to participate for the 20 hour Project Europe X Lovable hackathon. The mission: build something UNREASONABLE within 20 hours. I'll be honest: We didn't end up building something unreasonable. But we ended up building something very very useful. Introducing: Braindump 🧠 . 🧠 Braindump is a voice-first notes app that lets you yap out your thoughts, and it automatically turns them into structured, categorized notes. That’s it. No fluff. Just simple, seamless utility. Since the feedback on our prototype was overwhelmingly positive, we've decided to turn Braindump into a real product. 🔗 Want early access? Sign up here:https://braindump.center/ Special thanks to Kitty Mayo for acting in our short demo and for organizing this hackathon with Harry Stebbings and Anton Osika. PS: If you've already signed up / registered last week, there is no need to do so again.

About how deep tech makes its way into industry; while spending time around the research ecosystem in Germany, I noticed something interesting. I saw moments where research, applied institutes like Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI), and industry were at least in the same room. The handoff wasn’t seamless or guaranteed, but there was an observable effort to bridge research and real-world use. I felt the same dynamic during SSDA ’23 at Université de Fribourg - Universität Freiburg, where researchers and industry practitioners were actively exchanging constraints. Not everyone gets access to that kind of proximity. And even when they do, adoption is still hard especially in slow-moving industries. That’s where many deep-tech startups struggle today. What the deep-tech startups that collaborate with us during the build & production phase tend to get right is this: they don’t wait for industry validation. They manufacture it by - running short pilots. - bench-marking against existing industrial systems. - measuring things industry actually cares about: latency, power, reliability, integration. Those comparisons change the conversation. That’s often the difference between pure research and real adoption. If you’re building in robotics, neuromorphic systems, or embedded AI, what’s the hardest thing for you to prove before industry will even engage?

Together with the team from pacemaker.ai by thyssenkrupp we’re bringing a challenge that sits right at the intersection of AI, data, and real-world decision making. No theoretical exercises. No toy problems. Just a very real question that many organizations are struggling with today. Curious what the question will be? Come to see us at the CHEFTREFF event! We are very curious to see how participants approach it and what ideas emerge over the course of the hackathon. If you enjoy building things that turn complex information into meaningful outcomes — this should be a fun one.

Kinali is back in Germany! Again... And it looks like we’ll be coming back more often now. That’s because we now have a strong partner in Germany – ATX Hardware GmbH. And when such a partner comes up with a brilliant idea like organizing Tech Days focused on automation, you don’t ask questions — you just load up the demo unit and hit the road. 🎯🛣️ I truly admire what Markus Rauch and his ATX team managed to pull off — an impressive event, great turnout, and incredible organization! I and Radim Cahlík were given a huge opportunity to present our Test-it-off solution — both in a theoretical session and through a hands-on New Product Introduction (NPI) training, where even the most skeptical visitors saw for themselves that it really is possible to do it all without any programming, and that one hour is more than enough. 🕐👀 I was genuinely impressed by the format of the event. It brought together companies focused on ICT/FCT testing of DUTs from both the Czechia (UNITES Systems a.s. CZ, FPC) and Germany (MCD Elektronik GmbH, KABTEC AG, Leitec Test Solutions GmbH, EVAbits or Noffz). And suddenly, no one saw the others as competition. Everyone was inspired by Markus’ vision of identifying each other’s strengths and building joint solutions. We were also joined by representatives from key electronics manufacturers like Siemens Healthineers and Zollner Elektronik AG, which gave us immediate feedback on our plans and ideas. So how did we do?🤔 Our demos went so well that Test-it-off is staying in Germany for the summer holidays — it will now be part of the ATX showroom, helping to illustrate what's possible in terms of efficient DUT testing automation on ATX fixtures. 🏝️ If you didn’t get an invite or couldn’t attend due to time constraints, no worries — we’ll definitely be repeating Automation Tech Days. Right, Markus Rauch and Karel Neřád? 🦾😊

𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 - what I learned after 1 year of intensive usage I've been using GitHub Copilot daily in production work for a year now, across different stacks and levels of complexity. Some people in the industry are vocal about it being just a tool and nothing more. Others claim the opposite: it will replace software developers entirely. Well, as we say in German: jein (yes and no). The reality is somewhere in the middle. 😅 Many people have strong opinions on this topic. Let me share mine. The role of software engineers has shifted more in the last few months than in the previous five years. AI models have become extraordinarily capable. Claude Opus 4.6 genuinely blew my mind. These models can generate a lot of high quality code, and code generation is becoming commoditized. Writing a function, implementing an endpoint, scaffolding a component: machines handle these reasonably well now. But who takes responsibility if something goes wrong? Who evaluates whether the code was implemented correctly? Who challenges the proposed solution? Do we blindly accept everything? Who validates the architecture? Who defines the boundaries and the business critical edge cases? Who decides whether a technical decision fully or only partially supports the requirements? Who thinks critically in this flow? These are the roles software engineers must own now. One thing is certain: 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀. My advice to fellow engineers: keep learning, keep reading, keep sharpening your knowledge. We've entered the era of building. AI assisted coding is the enabler. I'm neither a fan nor a hater, but I believe we should use it to produce as much value as possible. That's how we accelerate digital transformation. To stay relevant, we need both breadth and depth. Here's what I cover in the full post: → Why the biggest variable isn't the model. It's you. → How I use Copilot as a thinking partner, not a code printer. → Why architectural knowledge is becoming more important, not less. → The mental trade off of using Copilot. → My workflow that pushes AI generated code adoption to ~80%. Full post on my blog: 🇺🇸: https://lnkd.in/dZgFrzZE 🇩🇪: https://lnkd.in/d7mimVbk What about you? Do you use Copilot, Claude Code, or something else entirely? I'd love to hear what's working for you and what isn't. Next week I'll publish my do's and don'ts for getting the most out of AI assisted coding. Stay tuned. 🚀 #AIAssistedDevelopment #GitHubCopilot #SoftwareEngineering #SoftwareArchitecture #AgenticCoding #PromptEngineering #DeveloperProductivity #TechLeadership #DigitalTransformation

Hi all, I am excited to share that I’ll be speaking at the 7th Munich Hardware Meetup on 9 April. My talk, “From Arduino to Hardware Production,” will focus on how hardware products move from early prototyping into production — and what it takes to solve challenges across software, firmware, electronics, manufacturing, and product delivery in a startup environment. Some of the most valuable lessons in hardware come from working across disciplines and navigating real-world constraints. I’m looking forward to sharing a few practical insights from that journey and connecting with fellow founders, engineers, and hardware builders in Munich. Thanks to the organizer Rostyslav Spoliak, PhD for putting this together. Also looking forward to hearing Michael Masnitza's perspective on building hardware in the energy sector. Hamburg is creating the next generation of builders... So many students building in record time amazing projects... But wait THIS IS FALSE! We actually had several CTOs, VPs of engineering and senior engineers of well funded startups and legacy companies amongst the participants. How come? The Answer: Times are changing: Executives are Building Again. Development speed has increased massively and being able to understand current tools, delivery speed and test yourself in a sandbox environment is extremely valuable. Learning through doing is irreplaceable to gather experience as quick as possible Here are some of my noted insights that summarized why they participated: - Strategic Fluency: AI strategy is now inseparable from technical implementation. Understanding LLM limitations requires hands-on building. - Production Speed: Tools like Cursor enable senior architects to ship functional MVPs in hours, bypassing traditional management overhead. - Innovation Signal: High-density builder environments are the most efficient way to track real-time shifts in the AI stack. The internal consequence for companies is massive. However, it's not layoffs. It is mostly development speed and feature release speed. The narrative that hackathons are exclusively for students is outdated. The recent AI BEAVERS event at Bucerius Law School proved that seniority is returning to the IDE. WELCOME TO THE NEW AGE OF SHIPPING. #shipthedamthing P.S. If your team / company needs help to ship reliable, secure and fast. Feel free to send a dm.

European robotics is no longer concentrated. It’s fragmenting. But that’s a good thing. A few years ago, most “EU robotics” conversations pointed at one or two hubs. Now it’s regional, with clusters getting deeper: 🔹 Zurich and the Swiss cluster ANYbotics ABB ETH Zürich 🔹 Southern Germany cluster KUKA STÄUBLI Bosch Rexroth Festo Baumer Group 🔹 Stuttgart region cluster NEURA Robotics Bosch TRUMPF 🔹 Munich and Bavaria cluster Agile Robots SE Franka Robotics 🔹 Odense (Denmark) cluster Odense Robotics Universal Robots Mobile Industrial Robots 🔹 Lille / Paris (France) cluster Exotec Wandercraft Naïo Technologies Fragmentation matters because it changes the economics of shipping robots. When customers are closer, you iterate faster. When field support is local, uptime becomes normal. When integrators and suppliers sit in the same region, deployments stop resetting every time you cross a border. The next winners won’t be the loudest, they’ll be the densest. Clusters win because support and integration are local. It’s impossible to tag everyone in one post, so feel free to add the companies I missed that are building serious robots in Europe. #Robotics #Automation #IndustrialAutomation #DeepTech #EuropeanTech #AdvancedManufacturing Stuart Cooper

🚀 Two days before WhatTheStack kicks off, I’m running a crash course in building apps that survive the real world. Real-World React: The Architectural Playbook for Performance, Resilience & Scalability is built around React and Next.js as our shared language, but it’s not exclusive. I’ve had Vue, Svelte, and Angular devs attend, and most of the concepts we’ll cover are framework-agnostic and apply to any modern frontend stack. We’ll dig into: - Architecture patterns that implicitly boost performance - The real story behind React reconciliation (and anti-patterns to avoid) - Resilience engineering for modern frontends - DORA metrics and delivery velocity at scale - Building post-deployment confidence so you can ship without fear This isn’t about pixel-perfect UIs, it’s about patterns, decisions, and trade-offs that keep apps fast, resilient, and scalable when they’re serving millions, not just running locally. 🎯 If you work in frontend and want to level up your architecture game, this is for you.

Our partnership with the City of Munich is in full swing! 🤝 After being featured in the Rathaus Umschau and Süddeutsche Zeitung – it's time for a project update from our side! 🚀 For the past 3 months, our sensors have been continuously collecting data in Magdalenenpark (Pasing) in collaboration with Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland e.V. (BUND Bundesgeschäftsstelle) and the "Referat für Klima- und Umweltschutz". While conventional monitoring through field visits is labor-intensive and only provides snapshots, bioacoustics promises 24/7 insights into the local avifauna. The ultimate goal: additional data for evidence-based decision-making in nature conservation. 🦉 Check out our short video for more details! 🎬 The project is funded as part of the City of Munich’s innovation competition, enabling 10 more sensors to be rolled out during the next weeks. Big thanks to everyone involved from Landeshauptstadt München, munich business - Die Wirtschaftsförderung Münchens, Referat für Klima- und Umweltschutz, and BUND Naturschutz! 🙌 Frieke Meijer-Schepman Ralf Schüpferling Timo Erdelt Konrad Heidler Niko P. Yesterday at Startup Night: killer insights from clockin Co-Founder Frederik Neuhaus (fresh from Silicon Valley) 👀 + pitches from our incubator teams 🚀 Three big takeaways: 👉 Start small – think big clockin began niche (time tracking), but always aimed to become the digital OS for deskless workforce & SMEs — Germany → Europe → world. Now powering order processing, HR and more. Giving digitalization to the “forgotten” mid-sized businesses too 👏🚀 👉 Radical customer closeness = real edge Product decisions come straight from conversations, feedback and deep process understanding. In SME regions like Münsterland, startups + mid-caps should collaborate way more. 👉 Early discipline → later freedom Bootstrapped long, focused on traction, profitability & sustainable growth. Raised €10M in 2025 from strength — could pick investors 💸 Huge thanks to Freddi for the honest, hype-free insights 🙌 Real founder stories > buzzwords. #FromScienceToStartup #StartupNight #FoundersUnplugged #Insights#Proofa
