AP via Yahoo News: Leonardo painting has coded 'soundtrack'

ROME - It's a new Da Vinci code, but this time it could be for real.

An Italian musician and computer technician claims to have uncovered musical notes encoded in Leonardo Da Vinci's "Last Supper," raising the possibility that the Renaissance genius might have left behind a somber composition to accompany the scene depicted in the 15th-century wall painting.

Angels & Demons the movie

Angels Sets February Start

Columbia Pictures has set a February start in Europe for Angels & Demons, the sequel to The Da Vinci Code, which will be directed by Ron Howard and will be released in December 2008, Variety reported.

Producers Brian Grazer and John Calley, Howard and writer Akiva Goldsman are seeking to finalize the shooting script before next week's writers' strike deadline. Meanwhile, the Angels team has begun casting around Tom Hanks, who will reprise his role as Robert Langdon.

Hanks' character, a Harvard-based expert on religious symbols, this time investigates a mystery that involves a secret society and a conspiracy that leads to Vatican City and threatens the future of the Catholic Church.

New Da Vinci theory takes down several Leonardo related sites

"Pesci said that when he superimposed a reversed image of the fresco “Last Supper” on top of an image of the original, you could see what appears to be a Knights Templar holding a baby. Add to that he also said you could clearly see a goblet before Christ, showing the scene when he blessed bred and wine for the Eucharist. If you understand Italian, there is a video, which explains the theory, but if you do not the images speak volumes. (http://tinyurl.com/22w4o6)"

Musicians unlock mystery melody in Rosslyn Chapel

"Musicians recently unlocked a 600 year old mystery that had been encoded into the walls of the Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland, the one featured in The Da Vinci Code. The song was carved into the walls of the chapel in the form of geometric shapes that a father-son team — both are musicians and the father is an ex-Royal Air Force code breaker — finally matched to so-called Chladni patterns (see the Wikipedia article on cymatics). The recovered melody was paired with traditional lyrics (translated into Latin) and recorded; the result can be heard in this video (also linked from the musicians' website). The video also gives a visual representation of how the engravings match up to the cymatic patterns."

(no subject)

well i read the book Angels and demons. i didnt like it. it was very slow to me and wasnt as exciting as the Da Vinci Code. Some parts were ok. but i havent even finished the book im like 30 pages away or more it seems.

you know the part of the book where Robert Langdon is falling out of the heliocopter towards the end? yah, i know its a book, but it seems unbelieveable to me. im sorry to rant in here delete it if you will... Da Vinci is still a great book. Angels and Demons was not.

If you've read other Dan Brown Books....

Which is better...

Deception Point or Digital Fortress?

I Say Digital Fortess...it had me with suspense the whole time...I never really knew what would happen, there was a little romance, and the subject of cryptography is very interesting. Deception Point was a little farfetched, but still good.

Which is the best?

In your opinion, which was the better novel?

The Davinci Code, or Angels and Demons?

For me, its pretty hard because both are phenomenal and both stand out from the other Dan Brown books, which don't deal with religion or history. I think that Angels and Demons had a better twist with the priest than the Davinci Code had with the "knight" historian, because it was pretty predictable. But overall, I think the Davince Code was much more interesting. Whats your take?
