Fundraiser effort for the Haiti Emergency Appeal

This Tuesday, January 19th, Vogue Body Piercing will be donating the entire proceeds (not just the profits) of our day to UNICEF's Haiti Emergency Appeal. If you want to take advantage of our Tight-Arse Tuesday special (50% off piercing procedures - just ask for the discount) and help support a lot of people in desperate need, please come in or call the shop on 08 8981 8766 - we WILL do mail orders for jewellery with credit cards over the phone - and please pass this message on!

I've chosen UNICEF to be the recipient of the donations because UNICEF is deploying clean water and sanitation supplies, therapeutic foods, medical supplies and temporary shelter to Jacmel and Port-au-Prince. UNICEF will also be focusing on children who have become separated from their families to protect them from harm or exploitation. These children are incredibly vulnerable right now and need help!

If you want to help and can't come in or don't need anything from the shop right now, please consider donating directly to UNICEF at this link. Thanks!

Tremmors

Did anyone else feel that tremor this morning? I can't remember what time it was, but I've never felt one before and I was freaked out! By the time I realised what it was, it was over. Crazy. I thought I was losing my mind lol. I'm trying to find an article to send to my mum back in Adelaide about it but of course I can't find anything. Apparently it was on the radio news down there though because I've had about 4 phone calls asking if I'm ok!

Motorbike

My brother has recently been diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy I (a form of Muscular Dystrophy). He has a Kawasaki ZR7 motorbike, but the muscles in his hands and forearms have weakened to the point that he can't hold the throttle properly. He wants to keep the bike, but is doing the 'responsible thing', as he puts it, and is trying to sell it.

2001 Kawasaki ZR7
84 000km
NT Rego until Jan 2010
Regularly serviced
Comes with gear rack and bike cover
Located in Katherine
$3 500

For those not in the know (like me) - it's a 750cc road bike and is not suitable for learner riders or those still within the first 12 months of their bike licence.

If you are interested, or know anyone who might be interested, send me a message via LJ and I can send you the flyer he has done up which includes photos.

Hey there,

Was wondering if anyone had a fridge they want too get rid of? Or really any furniture you don't want anymore, will pay $$. We ended up getting a place at Coconut Grove, 2 bedroom for $300 a week, but it's pretty much unfurnished so need to start picking stuff up before out move in date.

Cheers :D

Hey there,

Just joined today! I've been a regular visitor to Darwin since my partner moved up there early Jan this year and I have completely fallen for it! I LOVE the lifestyle, the people, I could go on and on. I recently got back and while I was up there the Darwin Cup was on, what a day that was, whew.

Anywho we decided that I'm going to move up there at the end of October, yay!

I'm actually flying up there next Wednesday for my partners birthday for a week so we are going to be house hunting and job hunting like mad! Wondering if anyone knows anywhere that is after staff, I am open to just about any line of work. I've been applying online and have heard back from a few places which is exciting. Or if anyone knows of any good places up for rent, that I can check out while I'm up for the week.

Cheers :)

Good places to check out for some Brisbanites?

Hello everyone,

I'm hailing from Brisbane and my Mum would like to make a three night trip to Darwin sometime in September.  I was wondering if you guys would have any particular recommendations for people to check out?

She has a preference for conducted tours but I'd also like to know about any local just-found-by-wandering-around type areas too :)  It's just a short trip for a chance to relax ~ probably should mention Mum can't climb or do rigourous activities if that helps with options.

Thanking you in advance!
