Dark Lord Big Bang

Okay guys,

Last time I had an author check in only three people responded... so let's try this again.

Authors: How many of you authors already have your fic started? Do you still need a beta? How many haven't started at all?

Artists: Would you be able to produce original artwork instead of fic-based artwork?

Betas: Please comment if you are available to beta.


EVERYONE:

I know the deadline for the reveal is on Voldemort's Birthday... Do you guys need more time? We can extend the deadline or we can cancel to prepare for slytherinbang. Just let me know.

Also I am about to start the Slytherin Big Bang.slytherinbang. If you would rather participate in that (the timeline will not be nearly as rushed and more people will sign up.) just let me know. We can always cancel this big bang (I would allow those who signed up for this bang to use their current stories in slytherinbang) and we can start over again next year when we have more time to work with. Up to you guys. I know it's a bit chaotic with Nano month here.

Hey, all you Death Eaters, welcome to darklordbigbang, since this is our first year, and the participation, we expect, will be on the small side this year, we are using the same post for Authors, Betas, and Cheerleaders! Please make sure you have read the Rules and Timeline BEFORE signing up!

Below you will find the forms to use to sign up for the big bang… Fill out the form in a comment at this post. After you have signed up, make sure to add darklordbigbang, to be able to view the “locked posts”.


AUTHORS:
We know that the next bit is hard to determine at this point and that things might change or you might not know yet. That's fine. Just answer what you can. It's okay if you change your pairing/plot/etc. halfway through.

Try to be as detailed as possible. Remember that your fic only has to be 10,000 words to qualify for accompanying fanart. Please leave an email address where we can reach you. We will be doing random check-ins, just to see how you are coming along.

The official signups for Authors close on Oct 29, 2010… This is when your ‘rough draft' is due. Since there is only a 10,000 word minimum, you may write more than one fic. Please let us know if that is your aim.







BETAS:

There really is no close date for betas… so if you stumble upon the big bang a bit later and want to sign up as a beta feel free.





CHEERLEADERS:




Please remember that the more people sign up, the more fanfiction/fanart we will have. So please if you are signing up make sure you help by pimping the community!!!

2010 TIMELINE




Aug. 6, 2010- Author, Beta, Cheerleader Preliminary Signups.

This is just to gauge how many people would like to participate.



Aug. 13, 2010- Artist Preliminary Signups.

This is just gauge how many people would like to create accompanying pieces of artwork.


Oct. 29, 2010- Author Rough Drafts are due.

Official Signups closed for Authors. You may still participate in the big bang if you are an author who could not meet the deadline or reach the 10,000 word minumim count; your piece will not be eligible for accompanying artwork, though.



Nov. 5, 2010- Artist Signups (Scene/Pairing choosing) Close.

Mods will start pairing up Artsits with Authors based on Artists preference/availability, this will take place over 3-5 days. You may still participate in the big bang if you are an artist who did not make the official deadline. Pinch Hitters will more than likely be needed. Any artwork will, of course, be accepted; your piece will not be eligible for accompanying fanfiction, though.




Dec. 17, 2010- Finished Works (Fanfiction/FanArt) are Due.



Dec. 31, 2010- We Go Live with completed Fanfiction with inserted Fan Art!! Happy Birthday Lord Voldemort!! Don't Crucio Us!!



Dec. 31, 2010- Participation banners are posted.



Jan. 24, 2011- Exclusivity Ends.

You are now allowed to post your fanfiction and fanart wherever you may please.



Extensions will be granted with the Mods Discretion. Remember fellow Death Eaters we are allowing you almost three months to complete a 'rough draft' of 10,000 words. That is Half the amount of words that most Big Bangs require. If you request an extension to submit a rough draft, your story will not be considered for accompanying fanart. Extensions for 'finished works' will only be granted for a few days max. The Mods need time to go through each piece of work to be able to reveal them all on the same date. (Dec. 31st)

If you cannot make the 'rough draft' due date, you are still more than welcomed to submit your finished fanfiction, without the fanart.

After the Official Big Bang we will be hosting a ficlet/fanart fest starting in January!

1. You must be a member of darklordbigbang

2. The Focus of your Fanfiction or FanArt must be Lord Voldemort//Tom Marvolo Riddle.

3. The Big Bang is a two-step process. Fanfiction Authors will submit a draft of their story. A draft is a 'finished' piece of fanfiction that has Not been beta-ed or proof-read. It can be a very 'rough' draft, but it must have a beginning, middle, and ending to the story. Artists will then choose which scenes from the drafts that they would like to draw/paint ect.. After the Artists have chosen which scenes they want you (Authors and Artists) will have Six weeks to complete their stories and fanart. They must be Edited, Beta-ed and Finished. On Dec. 31 (Voldemort's Birthday) we will go live with the finished stories with the fanart inserted into the body of the fanfiction.


AUTHOR REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for accompanying fanart the following criteria must be met:

1. The story must be an original story that has not been posted anywhere else. No WIPs allowed.

2. The story must be 10,000 words long. We are starting a bit late this year and so I have decided to cut the word length by half. Next year we will go to the 20,000 word minimum that most big bangs follow. That's 10,000 words NOT INCLUDING the words in the header information, the summary, author’s notes ect...


3. There is no cap or maximum word count as long as your story is finished. If you want to write a longer story feel free. As long as the story has a beginning, middle and ending, and you can submit your "rough draft" by the due date, you are more than welcomed to expand your story.

4. The Focus of your story must be Voldemort//Tom Marvolo Riddle. He must be the main person of your fic. Pairings are accepted as long as the plot revolves around Voldemort.

5. Any Pairing with Voldemort is accepted. We accept Het., Slash, and Threesome pairings, we also allow Gen. if your fic does not include a pairing.

6. All Ratings are accepted. Everything from G to NC-17 is accepted as long as the warnings are cleary written in the header of your fic. Also, if writing a story with sexual situations, ALL characters that are involved in said situations must be at least 17 Years of age. That is the year of consent/adult status in J.K. Rowlings' books.

7. All Rough Drafts/Artwork/Finished, Beta-ed Stories/Finished Art must be completed by the date that the mods set. TBA soon.

8. All fanfictions/Fanart must remain exclusive to the Dark Lord Big Bang Archive until January 24, 2011. You may not post your submitted fic or art to your website, journal, archive, or any other community until this date!


ARTIST REQUIREMENTS

All artists must meet the following criteria for their artwork to be included into the corresponding fanfiction.


1. The Artwork must be an original work and cannot be a WIP or be completed in full before the Rough Drafts are posted. We accept many types of art for this big bang including: traditional artwork, digital artwork, minaps, music, filks, soundtracks (that include album art), and videos. 2. The fanart must be done specifically for the fanfiction it is illustrating.

3. All fanart must include Lord Voldemort//Tom Marvolo Riddle. It may contain other characters/pairings as well, but Voldemort must be the focus of your artwork.

4. The rating of the fanart must NOT be higher than the fanfiction. So, No NC-17 Artwork for a PG Fanfiction. The Fanart MAY be a lower rating though.

5. A complete final of the fanart must be submitted to the moderators by the due date. TBA

6. All Fanart must remain exclusive to the Dark Lord Big Bang Archive until January 24, 2011. You may not post your submitted fic or art to your website, journal, archive, or any other community until this date!


As the Mods, we reserve the right to add or change any of the rules. We will make a public post announcing if any of the rules have been added or changed.

Rules have been modeled from bigbangblackout and hermionebigbang, but most of the credit for the rules goes out to dracobigbang from whom I admittedly, practically copy and pasted these rules from.

So I have been surfing through www.deviantart.com looking for high quality fanart depicting Voldemort/Tom Riddle, asking artists for permission to use their artwork for some participation banners for darklordbigbang. I am so happy to say that in the span of about three hours the feedback has been amazing. Already four artists have contacted me back allowing me to use their artwork for the big bang, including the wonderfully talented, Tenshi-no-Hikari.

This my Death Eater friends, is just amazing news and it looks like this big bang is going in the right direction!! I do plan on making different banners for Writers, Artists, Betas, and Cheerleaders. Again I am still looking for a co-mod, but will try to do this on my own if need be. I will be posting the rules and info on the community soon.

Welcome to darklordbigbang


The Dark Lord, Voldemort, turns 84 this year on December 31, or he would have if it hadn't of been for those meddling Gryffindors! Well, the few straggling Death Eaters over at _marvolo_ that have been left behind have decided to commemorate his evil greatness with a BIG BANG!!

A Big Bang is a fanfiction/fanart challenge revolving around one character or pairing. In this case that would be Lord Voldemort. It was started in 2006 with a Harry/Draco Big Bang and since then has expanded to include many different characters and pairings from the Harry Potter Universe.

Rules and a Timeline will be posted soon along with pimping materials. I am in the process of looking for a co-mod so if you or anyone you know may be interested please email me at heysakuya@yahoo.com
