it’s so funny to me that the project hail mary fandom has seemed to collectively agree that rocky ends some of his statements with “statement” like he does with questions. it isn’t in canon anywhere as far as i can remember, book or movie. it’s explained in the book that adding “question” to the ends of questions is an eridian grammar rule, like how we have question marks. since it didn’t say anything about “statement,” i’d assume it adding “statement” to the end of a sentence would be incorrect eridian grammar. so why does rocky do it? this is what i imagine happened:

You are aware that a fictional character is just a rhetorical construct designed to fulfill a narrative/thematic purpose right? That their actions are written by an author who wants to use them to explore complex ideas and moral gray areas within the safe confines of fiction right? That they aren't a real person who has killed real people right?
