Hello my fic-writing minion beloved Secret Santa! (Just kidding.)

Thank you for agreeing to participate and if you are, like me, freaking out about your assignment (does anyone not?), I'm sorry! I meant to be flexible and clear.

My prompt was: Variations on 'what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas' and what I had in mind was really any situational experience that the boys would just agree to keep between themselves.

Want to write the 'what happens on libo, stays on libo' version of this? OMG, GO FOR IT. Or the 'what happens in Iraq, stays in Iraq' and make me cry? YES, PLEASE. Or even 'what happens in Ray's ass, stays in Ray's ass? I'm not sure what to think about that one actually. I do love Ray's ass. I love Brad in Ray's ass (oh yeah, totally one of my pairings), but given that it's Ray, this could be an evil scatalogical experiment to entertain the troops in light of the epic tragedy that is JLo's rumoured death, IDK.

The basic point is that I'm really open to whatever you want to write, and I will love it anyway. How could I not? You're writing a story for me.

And as for pairings, I picked Colbert/Fick as my primary because I heart Nate and Brad together with all the passion of a thousand suns. However, I love Colbert/Person as well, maybe with the passion of eight hundred suns, but that's pretty passionate anyway. If you are a Brad/Ray shipper or that's where the bunny is leading, and you're reading this going, 'Damn it. Why couldn't she just--" I promise you I'd be thrilled with Brad/Ray. :D <--- thrilled!

EDITED BECAUSE I TOTALLY FORGOT TO SAY: GEN IS OF THE GOOD. I would love to see the boys navigate unfamiliar places with each other. I remember Nate Fick's book mentioning how he went fishing in Darwin with some friends. I would heart a fic that references random things like that so much. (I live in Darwin so that made me smile, but it doesn't have to have anything to do with Darwin or Australia. Though Brad's libo in Australia was clearly the fruitful kind. And yeah, I would totally love fic for that.)

I don't have a particular favourite genre. I really enjoy angst (my first and only fic for this fandom was Brad/Nate infidelity fic...), romance, crack, AU, kid!fic etc. I have a secret love for the push-and-pull of forbidden relationships.

The only things I ask you not include in the story are major character death and non-con/dub-con. I should clarify that role-playing dub-con is fine though.

Quite frankly, I'm about a hair's breath from swapping back to Hotmail or Yahoo. I hate the new look at Gmail. Seriously hate it. How hard is it to give people the option of using the old look permanently? If you truly want to "customise" the experience, LET ME USE THE LOOK THAT WORKS FOR ME, YOU PATHETIC FUCKHEADS.

I am weirdly upset about this, like someone genuinely pissed in my cornflakes. It seems like such a simple thing but it really brings home to me how powerless and helpless and fucking useless -- fucking insignificant even though I'm the customer -- I am when my own email account can go Kablooey! and there's not a thing I can do about it. There's not even an avenue I can use to complain or protest! There's only the Google Forums and who on the forums really gives a rat's ass about a fait accompli.

It seems stupid to protest something so small but it's my account. It feels a bit like someone just redecorated my house without permission. Assholes.

(Also, Generation Kill has seriously messed with my verbal filter. Oy.)

I'd love it if other people came to play, but mainly, I just wanted to post it because I think it's an awesome thing. PLUS, RPF IS ALLOWED. HELLO, TWO OF MY FANDOMS THAT I HAVEN'T WRITTEN FOR IN AGES! :D

Something terrifying happened today:

I was, er, perusing an old FW wank post about happenin's in the SGA fandom (I have no idea how I got linked there but I think it was through clairvoyant_wank or something), and I caught myself thinking mournfully: Wow, why am I never in the wanky fandoms?

And then three seconds later my horrified brain screamed: MOONLIGHT!!!

I can't believe I forgot. I mean, I was, like, front and centre for that shit. Thankfully, not in the FW posts, but definitely in the crazy 'who's gonna be banned next' shenanigans happening at MLL. (To my ever-lasting disgust I lasted, I think, two whole days after everyone else. Clearly I'm just not that threatening.) Which reminds me that that saga really needs to be written up by Moonlight fen because that was some seriously epic wank.

Needless to say, my advancing age has probably skewed my memory. Woe, another year older and back into debt. Happy Birthday to me.

But the good news is that I have an AWESOME SGA SparkleMotion!AU to celebrate!
In which John is a nu!student and Rodney is a vampire!geek and Twilight is sweetly mocked by all. Also, courting by physics notes. That is all. It's written by the lovely and less-than-smelly valmouth in celebration of my not being 30. Yet.

Dear Yuletide author,

Sorry this is late! By now you'll have received my list of DO WANT prompts and hopefully you're not tearing your hair out in frustration. I don't know which one we were matched on, but I think you should know that I've loved every story I've ever received for Yuletide. I really appreciate that someone puts time and effort into writing fic just for me in a teensy fandom that is easily overlooked! I hope this letter makes your job easier, and if it doesn't, ignore it.

I love pretty much everything about fic, so write whatever gets you excited.

Blanket request: This isn't a hard and fast rule because I've loved these kinds of fics before, but character death and non/dubcon does make me a little uncomfortable. I'd prefer that the story didn't have either of these plot points, but again, it's just a preference and not a rule. If your plot bunny is hopping in either of these directions, by all means go ahead and fall down the rabbit hole. I'm not kidding when I say I've read fic using these tropes that are awesome. The Care Bears crack!rapefic from long-ago Yuletide is one of my favourite fics of all time.

#1. Farscape RPF - Ben/Claudia
I think I babbled a fair bit about them in my sign-up. I really love them together in any form and if we were matched on this, I'm guessing you do too. :) Just FYI, I also love Ben's wife, Fran, and am totally open to her inclusion in fic. OT3 if you want (because Ben really is adorable with her too).

#2. Amelia Peabody - Ramses/Nefret
I *know* they are a plot device and I still ship it. I'd love something on Nefret because she's such a marginalised POV in the novels. We get snippets of her thoughts from Manuscript H, but not a lot. There's barely any fic for them though so anything for this couple is extremely welcome!

#3. Princess Series - Talia/Snow
I love the impossibility but I love my femmeslash goggles too;I just plain love them. Whatever floats your boat will make me a very happy goatling. Also, I am not averse to Faziya or Gerta in case you were worried!

#4. Moonlight - Mick/Beth
Whatever you'd like to write about these two epically star-crossed lovers is fine by me. I don't have rose-tinted goggles on about Mick's relationship to Beth and I enjoy the creepy dynamic of it. I basically just like the counterpoints of immortal versus mortal, past versus present, and want versus need.

ETA: So, the works were revealed and two were pieces of artwork, so maybe three stories? No. One story because the other one was a older piece of work that I'd already read, and which had one new chapter added to it. So OK, one new fic and one new chapter for a fic I do like's not that bad. Though that one new fic hit all my gender trope squicks fairly hard. Alas for me.

Oh, fandom. *pets* Some bits of you are lovely. You do chromatic challenges that blow my mind, and I know that this isn't the first 'Rock on awesome female characters' fest, but it's the first one that's shown up on my f!list. So I am severely tempted to claim Coraline and ignore the Twitter analysis paper I'm supposed to be writing. OK, I don't *love* Coraline and she's done some pretty despicable stuff, but she's an interesting character who's been bashed beyond all reason by the fandom. Of course, I could be heavily biased because I love ep. 7 so much.
