lj friends

I went through my friends list and removed some people. I think only people who I don't know / never update / I haven't heard from forever. If I accidentally removed someone who reads my journal regularly, comment and I'll add you back on.

I did notice I'd been cut by a few people, one who I feel really sad about. (Not the first time this has happened, but...) I don't update everyday and I don't comment on everything, but I check my friends page multiple times a day. Sometimes I feel connected to someone but I guess it's only one way. I will try to do better.

I do feel that I've made some great friends on here and I hope those people I am thinking of feel the same way. I apologize if I haven't been the kind of lj friend you have looked for!

food to send to Yael

Hi all,
I received an email back from the rabbi's wife at Yael's synagogue and she said that we can send dinner for Tuesday night. I'm going to order a platter tomorrow. If you are interested in donating towards the platter you can send me paypal at dara00@alumni.rutgers.edu - I can't accept credit card payments there so if you are paying by credit card you can send to dara00@gmail.com but keep in mind that paypal will get some of the money you meant to send to the family due to credit card fees. Please put Yael in the subject line and your name or lj name in the comments and please mark it as services (not goods). Please pass this on to your friends and anyone who may be interested in contributing. Thank you!!!

ETA: extra funds will go towards helping the family with the cost of the funeral.

a very mighty mama

While away in Florida I learned that my friend Jessica from MDC found out that after battling breast cancer and a recent brain tumor, she has carcinoma meningitis which is cancer in her spinal fluid. She and her family have decided that she will go home for hospice care. Jess has a son born in the same birth month as Gabbie, which is mainly how I know her. Her son's name is Noah. She also lives semi locally to me, although we were never able to meet in person. In September she had her second son, Gavin. He is the baby that I was and am helping to find breastmilk donations for.

For anyone looking to give to a charitable organization this year, to take a little bit of money that they might have and give to someone-please, send it to the address below. Jessica's husband will need a base to help raise their 2 young sons, find childcare, etc. Any amount can help.

Jessica Quinn Family Foundation

Lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849
You can also PayPal them directly at jackmightyquinn at yahoo dot com

Any gifted amount will help 2 little boys who will soon only have their dad as their parent in this world to rely on, and help them with whatever they need in their journey.

And of course please keep Jessica, Jack, Noah and Gavin in your prayers this holiday season. As another mom from our birth month group said-this is the season of miracles. Jessica has been able to beat her brain tumor-maybe with a little help from above, this too shall pass.

Please pray for a peaceful journey for Jessica, and continued love and strength to her husband and sons.

And please, feel free to share this post with others. (thanks to Ursula for some of this text).

suicide prevention

1 week to the walk - anyone else want to donate?

Hello,

Because I have lost 3 friends to suicide, on Oct. 14, 2007, I will be joining with thousands of walkers in the 2007 Out of the Darkness Community Walks to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

I am walking to raise awareness of mental illness and suicide and my personal fundraising goal is set at $150, but I know I can raise much more than that. I am asking everyone I can to support this worthwhile cause. I would appreciate any support that you give me for this worthwhile cause. Please consider making a donation by clicking here.

AFSP is dedicated to funding research, suicide prevention and educational programs, and conferences and support networks for survivors of suicide loss, mental health professionals, physicians, and the public. Together, our support for AFSP will reduce suffering and the loss of life from suicide as well as end the broad stigma that surrounds mental illness and suicide. With more than 30,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over 1 million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's work has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.

I hope you will consider supporting my participation in this event. Any contribution will help the work of AFSP and is 100% tax deductible. Thank you for considering this request for your support. If you have any questions about the Out of the Darkness Community Walks or AFSP do not hesitate to contact me.

Again, the link to my personal Community Walk Fundraising Page can be found here: here.

um?

hi, why aren't my posts showing up in other people's flists?
(if I mark this as friends only, it doesn't show up, even though the person has me as a friend. if I make it public, it does. I don't understand)
