Saw the movie a couple days ago, quite enjoyed it!

Happy 40th, Metroid!
Track Suit Samus is speed running her morning route by Zeben Eleben (or Famicom Mart?)
"LETS JOG WITH MAMA" <3
Okay, but she’s got big Pokemon trainer vibes here.
HOLY SHIT
Consider
Jessie, James and Meowth tryin' to steal the baby Meteoroid for the Space Pirates
Samus yeeting them away when their schemes fail
Samus paints her morph-ball form to look like a giant pokeball to trick Team Rocket into transporting them back to their secret base
BHVBVBHVGHVGHVGHVGH
Someone please please draw this as a fancomic now :D
Roviahc on pxiv made this!
Though every piece of art ive seen seems in agreement she'd have at least one bird pokemon #chozorepresentation 😆
I love that Pikachu is with her as a Smash Bros reference :D
I think she'd like Rowlet, he's a good round lil birb friend <3
Yeah id imagine she'd have all the birb Pokémon...like the Bowery King from john wick, but it's all bird Pokémon 😆
ALSO FUN FACT:
that Krabby holding the Ultra Ball?
It's a reference to the original game as one of the statues that holds one of her powerups is crab shaped!
O_O
I had this little booklet!!!!!!
I don't anymore....so much of the cool little things I had as a kid got thrown out
But I recognised this and it made me happy :D
I mean there is a bird Pokemon there it’s just not a flying type
What is your stance on the issues?
Question to people out there: what was the original Japanese of this line? Is it literally fairies, or is this a cultural translation of kami or oni or something?
so i don’t know the original japanese for this specific line, but according to wikizilla.org,
The Shobijin (小美人 Shobijin, lit. “little beauties”), also known as Cosmos (コスモス Kosumosu) or Elias (エリアス Eriasu), are tiny twin priestesses of Mothra
so the movies don’t seem to use a preexisting cultural term. the original Mothra movie is an adaptation of the novel The Luminous Fairies and Mothra (発光妖精とモスラ Hakkō Yōsei to Mosura), so they’re yōsei in that one.
additionally, in one adaptation they ride Fairy Mothra (妖精フェアリーモスラ Fearī Mosura), who only has a 30 cm wingspan and is definitely a fairy
maybe an obvious statement maybe very controversial but i hate it when people act like women being more afraid of poor/homeless/substance abusing/unkempt/mentally ill men is illogical or bigoted bc those men are more likely to be erratic and prone to random acts of (sexual) violence and harassment than men who are more put together bc they have less restraint. not to say that rich guys aren’t equally evil or misogynistic but they’re more likely to take it out in different ways and it’s usually not on randos.
Yeah yeah Jpost but I want to see who is funding these people, and what international ties they have.
My scorching hot take on Christopher Nolan Presents Homer's The Odyssey is Tom Holland having his mind blown while filming this, then going back to Marvel to and being all "Why did no one tell me that you can, like, have a finished script before you start filming and a cinematographer who has all the shots planned before filming instead of figuring it out in post, has anyone else heard about this?" is pretty funny
Visionary Director Christopher Nolan's controversial directing style of "telling actors what's happening in a scene when they're filming"
stopppp everyone absolutely needs to see this
So my dad was the assistant music editor on Tarzan, and idk if it was Bring Your Kid to Work Day or something but one day he did just that so there I was, this incredibly small 1st grader, in an absolutely cavernous recording studio with a full orchestra and a giant screen playing the scene they were taping the score for, and my little brain couldn't handle the big music and the big movie happening all at once so I started crying and it was the first time music ever brought me to tears and it was too much to take in so we stepped out of the studio and ran directly into Phil Collins, who looked to me very much like my dad, and in my delicate emotional state I became immediately convinced that my dad had been copied and nobody had told me so I started crying harder, and Phil Collins said something that was probably meant to be calming but it was with a British accent so I thought there was a copy of my dad in every country and I absolutely lost it at the notion that other kids would get to have my dad, and my dad ended up having to carry me back to the car.
So.
Sorry for crying very loudly at you Phil Collins, your work on Tarzan was so moving it triggered my first emotional breakdown.

the only thing that could top that clip is that story
THE CITY OF DAGON YOU SAY?
Well I don't see anything OMINOUS about that! >.>
Did you read the book dude? If I was a horrific looking fish man who wanted the not be judged by my appearance and be treated like a normal guy I wouldn’t willingly compare myself to the evil lovecraftian deity who’s spawn are known for forcefully mating with human woman.
I get the idea of like reclaiming a slur or a negative image but the entirely normal looking guy rather than the people who are actually mutated make that decision is incredibly suspect.
Also they seem to be eating a guy, kinda undercuts the idea of “ we’re not monsters”
To be fair the person they're eating did deserve it
She was abducting Atlanteans to horrifically experiment on them basically just because it was easy to get away with because the surface world just sees them as fish monsters as opposed to how if you're doing human experimentation the law and the media will at least pretend to give a shit
But yeah, naming your new city that's totally gonna be a Utopia and not at all an insane supervillain dictatorship after the evil fish god from Horrible Phobia's Lovecraft's books is not winning my confidence here Orm XD
Then just kill the guy, you don’t have to eat him afterwards.
I guess from a utilitarian standpoint it would be morally wrong to waste the meat but also eating another sapient creature is bad for a societal social contract.
I don’t want to be eaten, so it’s in my self interest to create a society where eating people is not allowed.
I mean if I’m one of these fish men I’d question when our first ejection is going to be held because I’m not gonna live in a monarchy damn it!
Dies he have any plans to install proper infrastructure? How’s he gonna keep his population fed?
Orm: Oh so you want food but you DON'T want me to encourage you to eat people?
There's no pleasing you peasants....
I’m just saying I e seen no evidence that this man has any of the skills necessary to run a city state!
But the Hyena kid is COOL/CUTE! 😍
Honestly he’s a million times a better character design than any of the other “new” characters to boot!!
Always cool to see mutants whose powers are mostly just looking ugly too.
Yeah! I think the biggest problem with all the new gens (Outliers, Exceptional, Gen X-23, MacKay’s)- is they just don’t have “the look”…
Like there’s just nothing visually interesting about them? They’re all kind of forgettable?
This design in contrast just looks cool- even if the outfit they put him in is terrible!
It doesn’t even have to be physical mutations- Surge, Hellion, or Prodigy are good examples of great character design! The animated Static Shock is another great example of good character designs!
Like even though Jason Aaron sometimes took his character names/designs maybe a little “too far” to the point that they became cringy- I can still admit “Eye Boy” is a good character design! Ditto with “Nature Girl”!
I mean it also helps with the allegory when not every mutants is a regular looking conventionally attractive person with powers that are solely benificial. You need guys like Beak who have zero upsides to their powers.
It also creates a funny contrast since the X gene can make you effectively a god with full control over nature and the weather or you just have the ability to change the color of your left pinky toe.
This one is gonna be unpopular.
I’ve endured far more hate and malice from leftists in the past three years than I ever have from the right.
this is true in my case because there are about zero situations in which i would find myself in right-leaning spaces. conversely, even liberal spaces i previously occupied have been inundated with antisemitic fallacies and libel
this frozen dessert is also known as an ice pop, popsicle, paleta, lollipop, lolly, ice lolly, icy pole, ice block, ice drop, ice gola, ice candy, ai tim tang, ice cream tang, and kisko. whatever you call these flavored frozen something-or-others on a stick, these recalled ones have a secret ingredient: glass
and that glass has best before dates all the way into november 2027.
for whatever reason, the FDA has made it unnecessarily difficult to tell if you have any of these recalled outshine fruit bars. more on that towards the bottom. I (rune) went ahead and made the batch information easier to read, because it feels extra bad imagining people panicking through the recall announcement trying to figure out if they or their children possibly ate glass.
if you have an affected box, do NOT eat it. throw it out or return it to the store for a refund. make sure everyone else you know does the same, because eating glass can cause unwanted side effects. such as death
August 18, 2026 - Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc. is voluntarily recalling a limited number of select flavors of Outshine Fruit Bars due to possible foreign material contamination with glass. Products affected include Outshine Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine and Black Cherry 6-Count 2.5 ounce Fruit Bars and the Outshine 24-Count 2.5 ounce Variety Pack Fruit Bars. These lots were distributed to retailers nationwide.
"limited number" and "select flavors" are doing a lot of heavy lifting for a nationwide recall where the contaminated fruit bars were distributed to too many retailers to list.
No other Outshine products or varieties are impacted. ONLY the five flavors of 6 Count (2.5-oz bars) and Outshine Variety 24-Count (2.5-oz bars) Fruit Bars. Batch codes can be identified on the product packaging.
really neat thing to emphasize after dreyer's original recall failed to list every product affected by the glass contamination. this post is actually about the expanded recall. surprise!
the original version of this line was, "No other Outshine products or varieties are impacted. ONLY the five flavors of 6ct 2.5-ounce paddle bars."
no need to worry about our other products being affected by glass contamination, unless you trusted us the last time we said this...a whole three days ago! move on
Dreyer’s is taking this action out of an abundance of caution following consumer reports of glass found in the product. No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider immediately. Consumers who have purchased the affected product should dispose of it or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.
as is the case with countless food recalls, dreyer's only discovered their desserts were contaminated with glass and subsequently issued this recall after multiple heroes reported issues with their food. no glass-related injuries have been reported yet, but...be real, chances are good someone already ate some amount of glass. if that sounds like you, dreyer's says to pursue medical attention (or at least professional medical advice) immediately.
even if the glass only slices your digestive tract a teeny tiny bit, any possible germs on said glass (and anything else you eat afterwards) get expedite delivered directly into those cuts and might lead to a serious infection. consumed glass could also become embedded somewhere on the way in, on the way down, and on the way out of your body. a scenario like that could require surgery to remove the glass.
if you do accidentally eat glass, PLEASE report it to both the FDA and to dreyer's to get your injuries officially recorded. the more heroes who report injuries and illnesses from their food, the more these issues get taken seriously, the more people find out about them, the more other people can be protected, and the more easily other victims can receive medical care and possibly compensation. in a worst case scenario, eating glass or food contaminated with mystery germs can result in lifelong disability or death. please help save lives.
The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our highest priority. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause our consumers and retail customers. We remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality and to earning the trust of our consumers and customers every day.
...which is why the dreyer's primary official website, icecream.com, definitely contains a prominent warning about outshine fruit bars containing glass? or at the very least a search result for "recall"? surely someone who claims safety as a "highest priority" would never half-ass communication about actual glass, right? (whoops!)
none of this PR bullshit matters. dreyer's should have at least had a prominent banner and recall page template ready, filled out, and published by now. plenty of other food manufacturers manage that part just fine. despite dreyer's PR pinky promises, they already extensively fumbled this recall. my (rune!) sympathies to anyone else devastated by dreyer's performance. and also the glass

alright, now here is where things get confusing. on the FDA's table listing the specific recalled products: product packaging (name and quantity) and UPC (identifying product number) both say "see image below". the batch code/best before date column is still correctly filled in, albeit attached to incomplete information.
the FDA apparently expects everyone to look at the blurry-as-shit images, transcribe flavors and UPCs in order, and then link them to the incomplete table. possibly while racing against the melting of their creamless ice. keep in mind, recall announcements do frequently contain errors, including having their associated photos incorrectly ordered or labeled. but the tables are usually at least completed.
so, where exactly is the list of recalled flavors and UPCs in plain text to know for sure? especially if the images are too blurry to read?
...hidden within the fucking alt text!!!!!!
and so it was up to me (rune!!) to utilize my expert hacker accessibility alt text skills and format this information for the tragically-tableless tumblr. why these steps were skipped over on the FDA website with full table capabilities in favor of making people hunt for it, I (rune!!!) have no fucking clue. rough times at the US FDA
reminder that tumblr natively supports alt text on both desktop and mobile, and more people should be using it. after attaching a photo, click on the meatball menu/3 dots to add a brief description.
rune (me) recall pro tip: to check your bars, take pictures of the box and then promptly put it back in the freezer. do not keep the box out while looking through the numbers. otherwise, much like the eventual fate of all things on our fragile earth, your treats might disappear into memory
