I have no life beyond the baby. I know. I'm admitting that freely now.

Frankly, I'm likely to just start posting baby-stuff here without a filter; otherwise, I'm not likely to post much at all. Goodness knows I haven't in ages.

This is your official warning and absolution for defriending/unfollowing me. :) (Yes, even you guys, Patrick & Sheree and other RL friends -- I'll post a link on G+ if I have anything that's actually significant/non-baby to say. ♥)

In the meantime, a non-baby post, just to be contrary.

So, in anticipation of the final volume coming out next month (though the eBook isn't out until April), I've been rereading the Wheel of Time for the nth time (at least fourth or fifth, maybe more). No haters, please. :)

I'd just done a reread for TGS, in 2009, so things are still relatively fresh, but I've forgotten enough of the finer details that it makes it worth a reread to me, so I can properly appreciate AMoL.

This time, I started with the prequel novel of New Spring, which I actually hadn't read before (though I'd read the short story) for no particular reason, so I actually get to bookend the reread with new text. That's exciting to me. Because I'm boring. But that's all right.

I've actually gotten Chris reading 'em, too -- I told him there's a point he can jump ship and get an ending after Book 3 if he isn't having fun, which is true. But it's a LOT of fun, snuggling up on the couch with him and reading over his shoulder (I'm ahead of him on the reread, so when we're together, I just re-reread where he's at; avoiding spoilers is a Big Deal to him, so if I want to be able to discuss the books intelligibly, which is part of the fun in doing it, I have to be VERY aware of EXACTLY where he is in the story). He's almost finished with the first book; I'm eager to see what he thinks.

Anyway, the series is fun again. I've never been in the WoT fandom, or anything like that, but I'm having fun with it, and that's the important part.

Of course, finding time to read (or do much of ANYTHING) is difficult around parenting, but I'm figuring it out, slowly. :) I mean, hey, reading while trying to put the baby to sleep is always kosher, right?

Another non-baby thing: All of our immediate families are coming to our house for Christmas. My mom and her boyfriend are local, but my dad and his wife and my father-in-law, sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law are not. So this is a pretty big deal. Everyone's coming out for Alpha's first Christmas; thankfully, only my in-laws are actually staying with us. The house is going to be crowded, though! But it'll be nice -- a big, family Christmas, in our own home. :)

We've gone out to visit my in-laws for Christmas every year but one, which I love (as does, obviously, Chris), but I don't think we'll be able to do so quite so often in the future -- plane tickets are one thing, and wrestling a toddler (and then, in a few years, another baby, presuming the currently-hypothetical Beta proceeds as planned) through the airport is another.

Consequently, we have a lot of holiday traditions to start creating; I'm looking forward to it. Currently, my goal is to sew stockings for Alpha and then myself; I've got his half done, and mine not started yet. I made one for Chris the one year we spent Christmas at home; it turned out pretty well, so I'm hopeful that I can do a decent job with the next two. :) I've made Alpha's green, since Chris' is red, and I need to decide if mine will be red, green, or blue (as we have appropriate fake-fur in each hue)... as well as what the lining on mine will be. Chris' has space -- planets and stars and things -- and Alpha's is some custom-print Legend of Zelda fabric from Spoonflower. I'm not sure what I'll do for mine, presuming I actually get around to sewing mine in time for this year.

Considering I also need to clean house (...a lot...), find and set up garland for the stair bannisters (ideally pre-lit with batteries), and, y'know, continue the parenting thing (though, thankfully, Chris has vacation starting tomorrow through the 27th)... we'll see if I get to my stocking this year or not, heh.
