Today, for the first time since before Alpha was born, I finally got to run again.
I've been planning to for quite some time now, but it took me a while to figure out how I could do so, between needing to care for the baby while he's awake and needing to sleep when he's napping. Finally, Chris figured out the best option, and I got a chance to enact it today.
In short, we bought a playpen fence thing, and set up a largish area using it and the sofa in the living room, where the elliptical is kept. I then proceeded to thoroughly childproof the enclosure, and put a variety of toys that require no active supervision inside.
Then, today, after his first nap and second feeding, I got dressed for the run, plopped him down in the playpen, and did Week 1 Day 1 of C25k again, since it's been so long since I last ran.
It worked beautifully - the baby was happy to play on his own (albeit within sight of me and almost as close as he wanted to be) for the half hour of the run, and I not only got the whole run in, but it wasn't even as difficult as I'd feared. :-)
I even got a shower in, in the afternoon. And I got two naps in, along with Alpha.
I'm feeling better about it and myself already - here's hoping that the next run goes as well!
Relatedly, I also got a new sports bra - the Panache one, in a 32H. As usual for that brand on me, it fits perfectly and looks fantastic. :-D I'm ridiculously happy with the purchase.
