So, for "NaNo" this year, I have decided to do something vastly different.

I'm going to have, instead of NaNoWriMo ("National Novel-Writing Month"), SoProSewMo ("Sora's Project-Sewing Month").

Y'see, I've got a fair few projects I want to sew that I have not been making time for. I'm not sure what a reasonable (or slightly-above-reasonable) goal is, so, instead, I'm going to list out the things I want to do, and we'll see how many get done. I'm going to put an arbitrary minimum goal of one project completed per week; we'll see how that goes, heh.

Projects I want to complete, though I don't expect to do ALL of these:
  • Napkins (aka: serger practice!)
We have two bolts of linen that would make perfectly nice napkins, if I only cut them into 18-or-24-or-36-inch squares and serged the edges with a nice rolled hem. We kind of desperately need more "everyday" cloth napkins; I'm tired of wasting paper towels. I think 50 is a decent number to aim for -- not only does it give us plenty of napkins (even if we have company over and fail to do laundry more than once a week, ha!), that means the "project" requires making only 10 napkins a day even if I take weekends off, and, seriously, it's cutting out some squares and serging four lines.

  • Laptop Bag
I've got all the pieces cut out already. I just need to sew the fuckers lovely pieces of fabric together. Nevertheless, this son of a bitch has been on hold for, I think, two years for no good reason other than it has a LOT of pockets, which I suspect will be finicky. This may count as a "project and a half", the full one for the interior and the half for putting it together with the exterior. (Seriously, a LOT of pockets.) ... I also need to finish embroidering the monogram for the shoulder pad. WHEE. Maybe this is two "projects".

  • Baby Clothes
Baby. Due in February. Needs some clothes. Won't care if the seams aren't perfect. Sounds like a great excuse to practise making some clothes! Dunno how many "projects" this is worth -- maybe each item/outfit/thing is "half" a "project"?

  • Nursing Tanks
The pickin's, as they say in the vernacular, are slim. I've found ONE company that makes anything even one cup size larger than I currently need... and they go ONE cup size larger. And that's it, full stop. This is a major project and counts as at least two projects for SoProSewMo purposes -- one for just making the damn pattern and one for putting each tank together.

  • Cross Stitch Baby Blanket
This is another multi-project project. At least one to make all the letters of the alphabet in cross-stitchable form (more likely 2, 4 or 13) with video-game theming... and at least four (maybe even ~13 or 26) to stitch 'em.

  • Centre of Cross Stitch Baby Blanket
Another two-project thing -- I want a big design in the centre of the blanket, with room for Alpha's name and birthdate to be stitched in after they're born... and it'll be one project to design it and one to stitch all the non-name-and-bday stuff on.

  • WiFi Password CrossStitch
I've been meaning to do this for three years. Two projects: One to make the pattern, one to stitch it!

...

I may add more things to the list, but this is what I've got so far. :)

And, yes, we are currently still planning on hosting our traditional introvert parties/write-ins; dates and times to be announced mid-to-late October. :)
