the world of a cyberpunk is decrepit technology, oppressive governments, corporate consumerism. it crosses boundaries of genre and medium. we pervade the writers, film makers, hackers, techies, programmers, ravers, rivetheads, cybergoths, punks, techno-shamanists, artists, musicians, gamers, philosophers, theorists and activists. We are the subversion of society, and we are spreading.

we are the future, dark and undiluted. the future is now. every day the world envisioned as the future by the cyberpunk writers of the past is becoming more of a present reality. One of the things this community does is watch it happen.

dance to the tension of a world on edge.

  1. If you have any questions about the cyperpunk community, its content, these guidelines, or anything else, the moderators will be happy to answer them for you. Otherwise, jump in and have fun!

  2. There is a difference between debate and drama. The former is encouraged here; the latter leads to frozen threads and, if truly necessary, banned members. By contributing to the community, either with posts or comments, you indicate that you understand this difference and won't promote omg lol internet ljdrama flamewars.

  3. For the sake of dial-up users and members' friends list layouts, please LJ-cut all images larger than 480x320 and all posts with multiple images. To learn how to LJ-cut, click here.

  4. While posts in other languages are welcome, this is mostly an English-speaking community. Please try to include some sort of translation of your content for the benefit of the community at large. Babelfish is one free service to do so.

  5. Posts advertising specific and/or local events are also welcome, as long as they a) meet all the other guidelines here and b) relate significantly to the concept of cyberpunk. If you aren't quite sure, ask a moderator! We're here to help you.

  6. As per LiveJournal's content guidelines, do not use this space to request hacks, cracks, keygens and the like. Such posts will be deleted and repeated offenders will be banned.

  7. Retroactive and revisionist editing (changing the fundamental character) of initially offensive, abusive, baiting, significally offensive, or otherwise raising the ire of the community at large posts will not be tolerated. Neither will be selective deletion of comments of other members by the author of an entry. Own your words and leave others to do the same.

  8. Because this is an open forum, accessible to minors, aggressive discretion is requested with respect to material easily considered "objectionable". (ref)

  9. This forum is not intended to facilitate manhunts, skip-tracing, searching for missing children, publicising crimes or tragedies, or advancing other, similar social issues. There are other comunities for these purposes. The only time such announcements are relevant is if they involve well-known cyberpunk personalities, or are somehow technologically novel and CP in nature.
