[Event] The Forgotten King
Who: Anemone, Donnie, Twitch, Hashtag, Wheeljack, Riptide, and Six
What: A scavenging mission gone wrong
When: March 10th
Where: An inhabited garden world
Warnings: tbd
The trip was very uneventful, their shuttle easily making it to the surface of the ocean and then plunging beneath it. The Cybertronian facility that Anemone pegged as having some good salvage for her projects is perched on the edge of a massive tench that disappears into pure blackness below, and the facility itself has started falling off of it over the millions of years it's been here, abandoned.
Eventually, they get as close as they dare to get with the shuttle before emerging into the cool ocean. Fish swim around in massive schools, shark-like creatures swim ominously to and fro, and vivid bursts of colour light up in their vision thousands of different underwater plants and flowers wave in the current of the water. The facility is so covered in alien coral that, honestly, you might have missed what it was entirely if Anemone hadn't pointed it out.
Anemone floats away from them, doing lazy twirls of joy over finally being back where she belongs.
"Isn't the sea beautiful?" She says to them, her voice filled with excitement and delight. "I missed it so much. Look at these flowers! Last one to the entrance is a rotten egg!" The best part is, she doesn't actually know where the entrance is! Something fun to do, undoubtedly.

Once he's finished, Riptide transforms so the others can get onto his alt-mode deck more easily. "Alright, all aboard! I can definitely out-speed Anemone!"
no subject
"Wow...." he breathes, taking it all in, and taking sooo many pictures. He and Riptide are such tourists.
"Hey-!" At Anemone's shout, Donnie laughs and makes ready to speed after Anemone. He's been wanting to try his new battle shell's jet propulsion underwater. "Let's see what you can do, big guy!" he says, flashing a grin over his shoulder at Riptide before zooming off ahead.
no subject
Twitch has never been underwater before, much less to the ocean. This was so cool! She zips around, trying to look at everything before Anemone announces the race.
A race! Cool!
"I'm gonna win!" she calls before using her conveniently designed wings to propel her through the water.

You know, Six has never been in the ocean despite working next to it for the vast majority of his functioning. He has a... healthy, he likes to think, fear of water considering his systems were never quite built for it but hey. It'll be fine.
At least everyone taking pictures is cute. He grins, his wings tipping out a little before settling back against his back again. "So, how many y'think are gonna end up taking your offer anyway cause they get tired out, Riptide?" he asks lightly.
He, wisely, is going to take the cybertronian up on the offer of a ride. He is not built for underwater, or water, travel thank you.

"This is going to be such an awesome docuseries once we're done," she says, getting on Riptide's deck with the hardlight shield she'd designed--thanks to Nightshade for the idea--attached to her arm. She wasn't sure if they would need anything, but she wasn't a weapon's kind of girl anyway. That was Twitch's style. A shield could work for a lot of things, right? And she checks her tablet, making sure it's fully charged. Can't go anywhere without it.
"Hey, we should do a big group selfie of all of us! Like a class photo! Or, well, a mission Team Adventure photo."

Riptide and Six
The Cybertronian facility, and Riptide would recognize the general design anywhere even without being told that's exactly what it is, is filled with coral, but a few emergency lights flicker weakly down the sea-conquered hallways. You have no idea why you've passed out, but you think you're quite a ways into the facility and then...
Nope. You just don't know.
The joyous high spirits from the many children as they surged into the ruin to explore has disappeared, the only thing you can hear now is a distant creaking and groaning of your usual underwater ruin.
They're gone, your mind tells you. She took them.
What do you do now?
no subject
"Oh, sure!" he grouses as he turns around a few times, floodlights on, trying to work out where to go. "It's giving alternate Lost Light, because of course the big abandoned facility is probably haunted with ghoulies that knock you out! How didn't we see that coming! Unless we walked into some real bad funguses again."
Riptide, as he is wont to do, starts talking shit because he's nervous. Megatron isn't here to shush him, this time. "Team Awesome is not cursed, this stupid universe is!"
Alright. Comm the others. Riptide tries this and is not all that surprised to find nothing comes back.
"I think we should go emergency lights-wise, that usually takes you to either a big room where they'd evacuate or somewhere with computer systems, which might help. If they're working," he says to Six. "Also, do you remember anything?"
no subject
Six has barely woken up, let alone gotten his wits about him, when Riptide scoops him up. He doesn't squeak because he recognizes Riptide but it sure is a near thing. Instead he puts a hand on Riptide's arm and holds on as he's gestured around.
Ough that motion is nauseating actually.
"Now hold on a moment, sugar, let a mech breathe." He pats Riptide's arm consolingly, and finally finally takes a moment to figure out what is happening.
Kids gone. Comms offline. No memories or ideas where they are beyond hallway and facility.
Neat. Just like home.
"Alright, okay. First, I don't remember anythin'. Second, emergency lights are a good idea but let's take just a sec here. Someone dumped us in a hallway instead of scrapping us. That's probably important. So we should look around and see if there's any clues as to who is doing this 'fore we go scurryin' for the kids. I trust they'll be okay for the moment. They're a sturdy bunch."
Six pats at Riptide's arm again. "Can y'put me on my feet for a moment so I can look around?"
no subject
He figures he might as well help and have a look around himself, despite the complaining.
no subject
Riptide: 12
Six: 25
With that grim and casual reminder of Riptide's extremely tragic origins, the two of them take a quick look around. The hallway, as mentioned before, is filled with coral and is very dark, save for a couple of flickering emergency lights that do probably mark a weak path to an exit. It's Six that notices that a lot of the sea life seems to have vanished, scared away from something, with only a few particularly brave fish still poking their noses at your plating.
Something that neither of them miss is the very long claw mark that extended a good way down the hallway behind them, cutting effortlessly through coral and rock. It's as though a creature with absolutely massive claws had moved menacingly up the hallway chasing something.
The claw marks continue ahead of you and around the corner to the left, along the path of the emergency lights, conveniently.

Donnie, Twitch, Wheeljack, and Hashtag
The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one. The only good child is an obedient one.
Again and again and again, relentless in its sheer volume.
You awake in a bed that's somehow exactly your size. You are in a small room that is only just the length of your bed, with a bit of room for a small desk, neatly arranged, and a sink and mirror. A large speaker is lodged into the upper corner of your room, right over your bed.
Should you get up and look in the mirror, or inspect your clothes/plating, you'll find that your usual bright, individual colours are replaced with a very tired beige that blends you into the background as the oppressively white walls seem to bend down on you. Your equipment is gone, and so are your powers. You try and you try, but they aren't summoned no matter how hard you focus on them. Donnie, Twitch, and Hashtag all have smooth white cuffs clamped over their wrists, but Wheeljack does not.
The door is locked, should you try to get up and open it. The room has no windows. You don't remember how you got here.
Re: Donnie, Twitch, Wheeljack, and Hashtag
When Twitch wakes, she immediately knows that something is very wrong. She sits up and puts her feet on the floor and is shocked by the lack of color in her limbs. Her reflection is almost like a ghost and nearly startles her.
She frantically tries to transform out of panic but nothing, not even a click, her rotors won't even rotate. Her glowing blades are gone from her back and she is looking and feeling so dull she might just break down then and there.
But no, she feels trapped, she doesn't know how she got here or where her friends are but she has to get out.
She starts banging on the walls, on the door, climbing on the bed to reach higher. "Hashtag? Anemone? Donnie? Wheeljack? Six? Riptide? ANYONE?!"
no subject
He knew what this was. He'd heard snatches of it used against captured autobots, once. Loud noises were a form of torture. Of brainwashing. Someone was trying to twist him. To command him, to turn him against his true purpose.
He lifted his hands to attempt to block his audials and started to yell, curling away from the wall. "You aren't my lord! You aren't him! Shut up shut up shut up!"
Finally rising from the bed, he darted to the desk and attempted to wrench it up from the floor to hurl it at the speaker, but it was securely bolted down. The chair, he shortly discovered, also only moved so far before it also came to a stop.
He kept trying despite these failures, again and again until he sagged over the chair, holding himself up with shaking hands.
"...Donnie?" He finally asked, first over the comms then without, yelling to be heard over the constant, blaring noise. "Hashtag? Six? Answer me!"
no subject
And then she feels the silence. Not the normal kind of silence of people not talking. But the void, the emptiness, the lack of feeling the world around her as she usually does. She knows what it's like to not feel her siblings, after what happened to the cybersleeves. But to feel a complete solitude like she's cut off from everything?
She pushes herself to her feet, spinning around the small space.
"Wait--Where is everyone? Twitch? Twitch! Wheeljack? Annie? What--" She finally sees herself in the mirror. "What happened to me?"
no subject
Donnie winces as he opens his eyes. Ugh, change the channel-
He pauses as he starts to register the words, eyes snapping open wider as he shoves himself to sit up. "What the...where?"
His hand freezes over his forearm as he notices the strange bands in place, and the lack of his bracer computer. That unsettling feeling of being alone starts to sink in, a sensation that had been normal until he'd finally been able to connect with his family.
"Guys...?" he voices hesitantly, moving to get off the bed. Where did a bed even come from? Where are they??
"Annie? Wheeljack? Riptide..?" he tries to voice a little louder, wondering if anything can be heard over the incessant drone of the speaker. "Is this someone's sick joke?"
He looks towards the thing, glaring at it before turning to look around, futile as he figures it'll be to find his things. HIS STUFF. How dare!! Donnie freezes as he passes the mirror, gasping as he paws at himself. "Eyew, what- how even-?!" he sputters. What a nightmare! Upset as he is at this horrible intrusion, he can feel his own panic starting to build. Door's locked, everyone's gone, his things are missing and- nope- no ninpō. He flexes his fingers trying to see if he can morph his hands into something other than the lightly clawed points he's gotten used to having.

The West Wing
Right, you're still underwater.
There's a door to your left and right and another door straight down the middle in front of you.
"There are some cells to the left and right of us." Niles says, pointing. "That's where the Queen had me when she was trying to do her "special treatment."" He shudders. "I also don't know where the Queen herself is, or the King, so keep an ear out."
no subject
Donnie looks around anxiously, stepping a little closer to the others. Given everything that's been happening he'd nearly forgotten where they were. Drowning does not sound any better than brainwashing, even if it'd take him longer to do the former.
"I'm guessing we'd rather not know what 'special treatment' entails," he murmurs as he looks at the doors Niles points out. "So...which one's the treatment room?" That's where the Viperkid had mentioned the key was kept.
He starts forward quietly as he looks, grimacing a little at the reminder to watch out for the royalty, not that he'd forgotten about them.

As he walked, he composed several messages to various people that would be delivered once he was within range of the R2 again, one way or another. The way Wheeljack saw it, it was as good a way to spend his tine now as any.
The first was an audio message he sent to Hot Shot's inbox. ::Hello, Hot Shot,:: he said into his internal comms in that same dull monotone he'd said everything lately. ::Things have happened on this trip that I did not anticipate. If I don't make it back to the ship as the same person that I left as, know that I loved you all along. At least, I believe I used to. Not that it matters now, but I do not wish to die owing a debt. Goodbye.::
To Breakdown, a second audio message. ::Breakdown. My emotions have been stripped from me, and I do not know if this change will be permanent. If they remain this way upon my return, know that I used to be grateful for you. You gave me hope. That is all.::
To Starscream, a third. ::Starscream. It is Wheeljack. You spent quite a lot of your valuable time attempting to teach me something. I do not know if it will matter after my return, if what has been done to me here is permanent. But it used to matter to me. It doesn't anymore, but your time and energies were not wasted. I remember.::
A fourth, to Six. ::You saved my life when you didn't have to. That used to matter to me. I think I looked up to you very much. Thought of you as a hero. It only seems fair that you know that, on the off chance that what has been done to me prevents that from ever mattering again.::
One final message, to Ratchet. ::Ratchet. I know now that it wasn't your fault. I knew even at the time. It is easier now to realize this, when everything else is gone.:: He tipped his head, watching Donnie mutter to himself. ::You helped me. I think I used to trust you. Care about your approval. You had mine, for what it is worth.::
Finally, he cleared his vents. "Everyone stay as close as you can," he said calmly. Flat and dry and toneless. "I can take more damage than all of you. If you wander away and become injured and then fall behind, that will become your problem. Not mine."

Even so, she knows that how he's talking isn't okay. Because leaving someone behind means not everyone goes home. And they are making sure everyone gets home.
"Stop talking like that," she says. "We're not as weak as you think we are and we can protect you, too. We got here together, we're leaving together."
no subject
Nile's compliment might have had her lighting up like a firework, but as it was, it managed to pull at least a smile from her. She hoped they could still be friends after this.
They enter the hall and she was not impressed. Cells. Gross.
She didn't like how Wheeljack was talking. She might have been more riled up about it if things weren't still so dulled emotionally, but she felt enough to know that she didn't like it.
"Exactly. No one is getting left behind!" she said, trying to put some oomf into her words.
"Niles said that it was cells to the left and right so I say we go straight!"

After memories restored
Re: After memories restored
With the Queen and the Grimlocks' fates decided, the tension had settled a little.
Next was memories.
Twitch went into the machine readily, there was a sense of missing something, but really, it must have just been those missing classes or whatever they were. That space between meals before they finally found their way here to this lab type place.
Oh, how wrong she was.
She comes out of the machine gasping and looking agonized and distraught. Immediately she went to her sister, seeking comfort, choking back tears.
"Hashtag! Hashtag, I... I forgot them. She took them from me," she said quietly, her voice shaking. "Our parents. They were gone and I didn't even know..."
no subject
"No, no you didn't forget them," she says, bringing Twitch closer for a tight hug. This is the more important thing right now. She can work on hitting the CTRL+Z on herself later. "If you had truly forgotten them, you wouldn't have wanted to save the Queen and give her a second chance. Mom and Dad taught you that. You forgot their names, but they were still there the whole time. Like they always are, right?"
no subject
Twitch clung to her sister. How horrible, how terrifying, to know how close she had been to losing something so precious. No, she had lost it, it was simply a miracle that she had gotten it back.
And she might have never known.
But Hashtag was right. Even if the memory of her parents weren't there, their lessons still were. Maybe it was just proof that you couldn't get rid of something so precious, something so instrumental to your very being.
Twitch didn't regret voting to save the Queen, but there was an anger there now that wasn't there before. How dare she try to take her family from her.
"She can never take them from us, and now she won't take anything from any one ever again." She had calmed down a little. "Thank you. I don't like that they were gone, even for a little bit."
no subject
There was something there in his spark, a reluctance to return to the way he had been. He thought that he had been afraid, before, and now he wasn't. It was as simple as that.
He kept finding himself looking towards it, though. Something like apprehension flickered through his spark. "...Does it hurt?" He asked reluctantly, directing the question towards Donnie and Twitch. "Getting it back."
