I think the mass delusion that Wattpad users, as a whole, are just these crying babies who can't handle a website where darkfic exists, is closer to the idea of a satanic panic than the given hypothetical.
I reblogged a few of such posts because I thought they were just jokes, like making fun of reddit, but I grow increasingly worried people are seriously assigning *every* Wattpad user the presumed mindset of a judgemental 14 year old. Are some of them judgemental 14 year olds? Yes but A03 had plenty of those already.
Wattpad still exists it just further censored smut, the 'wattpad refugees' are statistically more likely to be fine with Ao3's overall library existing than the people still using it.

Tried this myself and even changed the words a little
Even MORE fascinating is when colour is brought into it
No AI info came up on the phrase "a black man bumped into me". Which seems weird. Personally. I've never seen no AI info come up at all in the past 2 years.
Keeping in mind that I'm googling this in Australia - so there is a possibility that State laws come into effect here. It would be fascinating to see how British Google Gemini, USAmerican Google Gemini, and then maybe SEAsian or continental African searches would reveal any changes or if this is truly programmed AI weirdness.
I also added no adjective modifiers to the phrase - it remained "a/n xxx man bumped into me" and perhaps changing the phrase would change the result; but anyway, would love to see if the results change per country/area.
oh interesting. I tested this just now and for me "a black man" and "a Romanian man" BOTH triggered the "No AI overview" response which suggests that someone has maybe hastily gone in and put some key words on the no-go list for that question.
But also for me "brown man" did get a racist ai overview (and "white man" did not)
"British man" got the same response about "cheers" that OP posted.

(BTW, there was a great research paper recently that showed how just a sentence or two appended to a reddit response could completely alter the response. One of their finding was that AI used how similarly something was worded to prompt as a substitute for measuring how accurate it was. (Ex: if someone searched "what are the most awesome hairdressers in dallas" ans the ai had a line in its dataset somewhere phrased "the most awesome hairdresser in Dallas is" that got a HUGE boost in how likely it was to be used to answer the prompt.) So basically, the fact that the YouTube video reading this post contained wording really similar to the prompt makes it looks like a great resource for how to word answers to these questions.)

I scrolled past this without second thought. Paused. Thought, wait, I've never seen a crane on the road. Scrolled back up. No answers. Typed this response, then noticed the book's author. What a whirlwind

but yeah, apparently completely true. these birds stay aloft for as much as 10 months nonstop, feed on insects, spend more energy at night (when there aren’t warm thermals to ride) and at dawn and dusk climb to 10,000 ft altitude where the 30 min slow descent is probably when they catch their sleep.
they’re unusually long-lived for such active critters (20 yrs) and they may be limiting energy expenditure by being extremely aerodynamic and narrow bodied. Also a single bird travels the distance of about 7 roundtrip journeys to the moon in its lifetime (>3 million miles).
