Happy 4th!! :)

Happy 4th of July, everyone! :)

Used to be that fireworks were allowed in the rural parts of my county. I thought that it was still so until Tuesday night when I saw that fireworks are illegal in all of the county. Now here's the kicker - it's illegal to use them, but it's not illegal to sell them. So there are no less than half a dozen fireworks stores (temporary trailers) I've seen in a 5 mile radius from my house. Hence why I assumed they were still legal. Go figure.

In other news of interest, the American Village will be using a laser light show instead of fireworks. They made this decision during the beginning of the summer when everyone was saying there would be no fireworks allowed due to the severe drought. We are still in a severe drought but organized firework events were not banned, but alas it was too late for them to organize a show. So, laser lights it will be. I am going to watch it from my driveway (I live about 3 miles from it).

This is a picture from a past event. Unfortunately, lasers don't look this neat. There's nothing like seeing fireworks there and hearing the cannons! I love their reenacting all that colonial stuff! Some of those patriots are so dashing! :) Though I don't envy them in their costumes when it's 96 degrees outside with high humidity!

Hope y'all are having a great 4th! :)

Not too much going on in my corner of the world. Haven't updated in an eternity because there's not too much to write about. Turned 30.. not so thrilled over that, the whole getting older thing. It's unreal how fast time goes when you aren't paying attention!

Speaking of wishing - I want a new computer and one of those new Ipod Nanos - The Product Red limited edition Red one!! I know I probably could do without that Ipod but that shade of red is so kick ass. :D I really do want a new computer, though. A better one for gaming!

It's been so chilly here lately - not that I'm complaining too much but it's taking me a little to get used to it. I also think I might need to get my thyroid levels checked again soon, I've been a bit colder than normal along with feeling a little lethargic. So considering my thyroid barely works on its own without the meds I'd best get it checked.

It's unreal how quickly Halloween has come upon us - and it's less than two months to Christmas!!

I really really really want the new Nintendo DS lite. Test drove one and I loved it. One problem.. I HATE that white. It shows dirt like nothing I've ever seen before. Maybe that ipod white is all hip and whatnot, but I don't like it.

But I really want one! Japan got these two hot blue shades - a pale blue and an enamel navy. The thing is, though, that Nintendo made no secret in press releases that Japan would get more than one color. Nothing has been said about us getting more than one color. I figure they will offer other colors.. just how long until they do is the question.

I'd get the enamel navy one but I'm a little wary about ordering it from overseas, especially if it arrives and is faulty or is totally dead. Bah.. curse you Nintendo! :P

I'm way behind in this. I'm also way behind in reading my friends' entries. All this will be amended by this weekend, I promise! :)

Seriously, I hate Internet Explorer.

For the past two days or more, every time I type in a web address in the "Address" box on Internet Explorer and hit enter the page loads ok for a second then I get one of those "IE has to close.." windows. I must have sent Microsoft a badillion error reports.

I followed their troubleshooting links. I did everything they said: updated Windows again just in case, scanned my machine for viruses and made sure my antivirus software was up to date (which it was), updated the Yahoo toolbar (which I HATE but it keeps sneaking back onto my browser). I've done everything and it's *still* crashing. I'm seriously getting pissed off.

I don't suppose any of you have had similiar problems lately? Or in the past? Any ideas as to what I should be doing to fix this?

Steady as she goes

Not too much has been going on here, hence why there have been few entries. I had a nasty case of strep throat which has cleared up nicely. The washing machine broke, so a new one was purchased and I'm in love with it. I love laundry - the only chore I enjoy. It's mindless and the sounds of the washing machine and dryer are soothing to me.

My sister graduates college in August with her degree in Business Administration. I'm really proud of her, she's overcome so much with illness and health problems. Since it has taken her extra time to finish, I know part of her is ready to be through but she also isn't fully ready to let go yet. So it's a scary, exciting time for her. She kicks all kinds of ass though and I'm soooo glad to have her for a sister! :D I gotta think of something nice to do for her.

Some of you need to update more often! *ahems and pokes* michelle_cosman!!

In response to mermaidkween's tag: Note: If I tag you, please do this in your ljs!! :D

My six weird habits/quirks:

1. I won't watch a movie or show if I've missed more than the first 5 minutes. I don't know why, but it drives me crazy to miss the beginnings of movies/shows.

2. I don't like watching a digital clock go to the next minute (ex. 6:28 to 6:29). I think this stems from being a child at my grandparents' house where they had one of those old flip clocks, that sound always creeped me out for some reason.

3. When eating a sundae I always eat the sauce first, then the ice cream.

4. When listening to the radio in the car, I can't stand to just listen to commercials so therefore I flip through channels until either I find a song I like on another station or the commercials are over.

5. I carry a brush with me in my purse or car at all times. No hair emergencies here! :D

6. I will watch the TV Guide channel to find out what's on tv rather than just flipping channels. This I attribute to growing up with a father who was a compulsive channel surfer.

Now, I tag (in no particular order):

If you've done this before, you don't have to do it again, but I don't think any of you have! So, consider yourselves tagged! :D
