Character's Full Name: She was born as Powder, but her chosen name is Jinx... for now? Character's Pronouns: She/Her Character's Canon: Arcane Character's Canon Point: After locking Vi in the prison cell. Character's Age: ~19-20 Did your character willingly come to Iyashikei? If yes, why? Yes. Part of her just wants to see if this place can teach her what happiness feels like. Will they need any special accommodations upon arrival? Maybe some shoes and a coat. She'd eventually put them on so she stops getting concerned stares.
Otherwise, there's the matter of Shimmer being thoroughly in her system. She may need some help with the physical degradation, on top of the psychological impact this carries. Maybe they point her towards the hospital?
1. Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them. How would your character act once someone got to know them?
Upon meeting Jinx, it depends entirely on the kind of day she's having. If it's a rare good day, they'll be meeting a particularly upbeat, manic, and unpredictable young woman. She's all about music, learning, exploring new places. Her dream of taking to the skies translates into someone who doesn't like being forced into some sort of routine. She needs room for improv!
More often than not, for a while, it will be the much less excitable Jinx. She's lost nearly everyone she's ever loved, and that grief and guilt weigh immensely on her. If talking via text, it'll be easiest for her to hide how empty her expressions lean. Regardless, there will be no smiles, only exhaustion... and a tendency to try scaring that person away via oversharing.
Once someone has gotten to know her, and they accept her? She'll do things like drape on/flop next to them. She'll give them genuine smiles, ramble at them about her latest invention or idea, talk to them about some of the few happier memories she has of back home.
2. What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
Aside from the glowing purple hair and Rapunzel-length blue hair, her "blood" is a case of: 'Whoops, All Shimmer!'
Shimmer is this horribly addictive substance that sort of turns people into monstrous beings, when given in very high doses. They'll have ridiculous strength, speed, agility, and sometimes more. In Jinx's case, it was surgically and magically infused within her, while she was on the brink of death. For her, the psychological effects were immense, and they still linger, even a year and some change later.
Currently, that means she is prone to hyperfixating on someone else, and there's this obsessive need to be useful, somehow. Whether this takes the form of having someone to protect, or it drives her to happily work for the shadiest folks in this place... she'd be "happy" either way. "Happy" and very, very prone to violence in the name of protecting whoever's (un)lucky enough to have become Her Person.
3. What does your character think their flaws are? What do they think their strengths are? What are their actual flaws and strengths?
She would answer this question with: my very existence is a flaw; I bring terrible luck to everyone who gets close. And her strength is... maybe her invention skills.
Her actual flaw is in her co-dependency, and how that co-dependency is translated into her thoughts and actions. For starters, she weighs her value against how useful she is to her select few People. She forgives Her People doing terrible things to other less important people. It's also somewhat easy for anyone she grows to trust to manipulate her. It is possible to mold her into a "useful weapon", so to speak, if a person is skilled enough as a manipulator.
Jinx's strength is in her heart - not the literal kind. But, when she feels driven to do something, she pours all she has into achieving the goal, protecting the person, helping the person, etc. She feels emotions with an overwhelming intensity, right now, but with the right therapy and possibly some medications? It should be able to balance into something healthier.
4. What is a common misconception other characters have about your character?
She's viewed as literally monstrous by most people in Piltover. A villain that will forever strike fear into the hearts of the innocents, and all that. Jinx did nothing to help that view! In fact, she encouraged it by wearing the most unhinged expressions as she blew people away with guns and bombs. She latched onto that part of herself that viewed spilling blood as exciting. Because she was helping her father figure, Silco, by keeping all the "bad guys" from reaching him or interfering with his drug business.
Nowadays, she doesn't want to kill, and she feels more apathy towards violence. And, fortunately, even when getting help with said situational apathy, her days of chaotic, unnecessary violence have come to an end. Part of her is seeking a new purpose, while the other part struggles against the desire to simply give up. Making friends and potential found family will help with rebalancing herself, and then forging a new reputation.
STRENGTH: Superhuman. She could punch through concrete, dent steel, etc. Later in the series, it's demonstrated that she is able to match her sister (Vi) in a fight, giving punches that are scarily close to Vi's level. DURABILITY: Superhuman. She can continue fighting while receiving powerful punches, cuts, stabs, burns, etc. AGILITY: Superhuman. She was dodging attacks faster than the blink of an eye even before Singed's surgery. After the surgery, she's shown moving short distances faster than anyone's eye can keep up with, making her capable of dodging even bullets with ease. HEIGHTENED HEALING: Even when the injury could be labeled fatal, her recovery speed leaves room for her to essentially bounce back within a day or two.

Personality: Upon meeting Jinx, it depends entirely on the kind of day she's having.
If it's a good day, they'll be meeting a particularly upbeat, subtly manic, and unpredictable young woman.
Her lingering flaw is her co-dependency—more specifically, how that co-dependency translates into her thoughts and actions. For starters, she weighs her value against how useful she is to her select few People. She forgives Her People doing terrible things to other less important people. It's still somewhat easy for anyone she grows to trust to manipulate her, making it still possible to mold her into a "useful weapon", so to speak... if a person is skilled enough as a manipulator. And able to slip past the wall of protective individuals she's accumulated.
Jinx's strength is in her heart - not the literal kind. But, when she feels driven to do something, she pours all she has into achieving the goal, protecting the person, helping the person, etc. She feels emotions with an overwhelming intensity, even now, but with the right therapy and medications? It did balance into something healthier.
Jinx's biggest change came in the form of therapy, genuine friendships, and embracing found family... rather than reacting with anxiety and paranoia. Or clinging too tightly. She gradually found it in herself to embrace some changes, rather than letting her mind spiral through all the things that could go wrong after sudden changes. For instance, when Sokie graduated, she reacted with total joy! She didn't go down this thought process of what it would mean now that they are no longer fellow inmates.
Whereas, when some of her friends had graduated earlier on, she'd cried. She'd spent time just curled up under her bed, feeling the intensity of losing them, without even confirming if they'd leave or stay on as wardens. When John and Sokie got married, she was still feeling anxiety over even a change such as that. She wondered how much less time she'd be spending with them, sort of in the same way a child might dread their parent dating again, or something.
So much of her thoughts had leaned irrational and almost all of it stemmed from trauma.
Now that she's been seeking therapy, time in the chapel, and aiming to maintain a healthy relationship with Ekko, she's finally planted the seed of Future Bound; she intends to live for just that!
The hurdle that followed that, of course, was her guilt over Isha. And to be very clear: she has not healed from it. She hasn't even truly begun the healing process on that, but this isn't what the final hurdle was ever meant to be. Her final hurdle was to break down into tears over the loss while admitting she did try. She tried, and it hurts that trying wasn't enough to save Isha.
And, as is what led to her graduation, she did admit to it, and then she made plans to go speak to one of the counselors about it. She curled up with Ekko to simply cry it out, and so began the airing of the wounds. Of course... it does help greatly now that Ekko brought Isha back. The next challenge became to not turn overly protective and smothering... which she quickly failed at. Truth be told, Jinx will never be the kind of person who doesn't cling to her important people. She'll always be a little on-edge over the idea that they could disappear on her next. And she'll always have a kneejerk reaction of guilt whenever she notices she's doing it again.
Last but not least, she can finally admit that she's never going to be Powder again.
She will never smile the way she did as a child, she will never laugh as Powder did, she will never break down the way she did before becoming Jinx. Because that child didn't go on to carry the same trauma and experiences she now does. That child still needed her sister's validation, approval, and forgiveness. Jinx... would still love to reconnect with Vi, and she will always feel this lingering ache for approval from Vi. And, yes, she would be so happy if her sister found it in her to forgive everything that happened between them.
But everything that happened wasn't all Jinx's fault; they both made terrible mistakes, and they both hurt one another greatly... and accepting that took quite the journey. So many of her closest people had such a big hand in helping her reach this point. And now she can smile, cry, scream, and laugh as Jinx; she can eventually love herself... as Jinx.
Powers/Abilities: I have a bit of a rundown on Shimmer here.
STRENGTH: Superhuman. She could punch through concrete, dent steel, etc. Later in the series, it's demonstrated that she is able to match her sister (Vi) in a fight, taking punches and giving them on Vi's level.
DURABILITY: Superhuman. She can continue fighting while receiving powerful punches, cuts, stabs, burns, etc. The only thing to truly defeat her in S1 was a bomb she built, and then voluntarily activated during her fight with Ekko.
AGILITY: Superhuman. She was dodging attacks faster than the blink of an eye even before Singed's surgery. After the surgery, she's shown moving short distances faster than anyone's eye can keep up with, and thus able to dodge bullets with ease.
HEALING: Superhuman. Even when the injury could be labeled fatal, her recovery speed leaves room for a chance to essentially bounce back.
FIREARMS: Very impressive. She has arguably perfect aim, with the only exception being when she fights someone who's unusually fast (e.g. inhuman speed, using some sort of device). Even against very fast opponents, however, she still has a chance of timing her shots correctly.
TRAPS: Tied in with the below, she is able to plan ahead enough before a fight to build and place all sorts of traps. She leans most towards wire-based and spring-based, and is able to create and build these unusually fast.
STRATEGY: She can plan ahead unusually quick, right down to details most may not consider. Some examples are when she rigged bombs on a ship to disrupt and overwhelm the Firelights, making it impossible for them to focus just on disposing of Shimmer. She blew up a building to draw away Enforcers, allowing her to break into the main structure undetected, to steal a crystal from them.
MACHINES AND TECHNOLOGY: Her tech skills are remarkable; she's been an inventor at heart since she was a very young child, and that fixation helped her drive for learning as she went. To continue from the above section, she builds her own handguns and rocket launchers, and she created and built most of the weapons used by her adoptive dad's gang members. The speed at which she makes things varies, likely determined by the level of motivation she holds for the task.
Despite having no formal education, Jinx successfully reverse-engineered Hextech after stealing notes from Jayce's and Viktor's extensive research. With just those notes alone, she created Hextech weapons that proved to work remarkably well. She even upgraded her own pistol with her new knowledge, to fire arcane energy blasts. Last, but not least, she built Sevika a new robotic arm with a slot-machine-type system to combat Sevika's tendency to lean predictable.
ART: She leans street art and abstract, which visually matches the hallucinations she experiences, when upset. Inventory:
