SFeraKon, yay! :D

A popis počasnih gostiju SFeraKona uključuje podosta velikih imena europske i svjetske SF/F scene, poput npr. Frederika Pohla, Guya Gavriela Kaya, Lois McMaster Bujold, Michaela Swanwicka, Brucea Sterlinga, Iana McDonalda itd., koji mahom budu vrlo ugodno iznenađeni gostoljubivošću i otvorenošću Hrvata ;)

Zagreb in 2010 Eurocon bid

Hello everybody! :)

I live in Croatia and am a member of SFera, Science Fiction Society from Zagreb, so I would like to take this opportunity to inform everyone interested in SF, fantasy or science that we are bidding for the Eurocon (European SF convention) in order to host it in Croatia in 2012. So if you are interested to hear more about it or support it in any way, check out the official site for Eurocon in Zagreb or my journal.

And a little thing to make you laugh and remind you of why "geeks" love Croatia, check out this funny video :)

The community the_recession is looking for Live Journal members around the world to participate in a very brief poll checking off the economic conditions in your area. By the end of the poll (open to members and non-members, alike) we hope to have a better idea of what the global economic situation looks like right now. If you would be so kind as to help please go here to find your country, territory, colony, or state.

Thank you! :)

Dobar Dan!

Hello, all!

I just found this community today, and I have to say, I am so glad to see it. I am in the US, but I carry my heritage very proudly. I have always embraced my Croatian heritage, even when I was a little girl. I'm also a quarter Irish and a quarter English, but I was raised around my mom's family (my dad is from Dayton, OH).

However, I have never visited the country. I've seen pictures and watched the soccer games. I've grown the wheat grass at Christmastime and sung the anthem loudly and proudly. I'm still learning the language. My Baka is teaching me...along with my mom and the rest of my family.

Does anyone have any stories/similar feelings to share? I'm totally open for comments!

Hello,
I wanted to say hi to everyone here... I just added this community to my friends' list.
I was in Croatia this summer, just camping along the coast (by myself), and something is just drawing me there. You can read the poetry I wrote there in my journal... scroll down to July 24 and read "my trip from my poet's heart...". It starts in Austria but the later ones are from Croatia.

I am Swiss but right now in the US for about 3 months (long story, lived here before).
I am intensively learning Croatian now and I want to go back there sometime soon I hope!

Anyone in Moscow?

Hello!
I'm new to this LJ and I would like to say hi to everyone here!

I live with my boyfriend in Moscow, he's Croatian. So I was wondering - are there any of you in Moscow recently? Or does anybody live here?
Or is there any Croatian society in Moscow?
I would appreciate any information :)

I hope this is allowed, since this IS croatworld :)

Anyway, I made a new community, where you can post the photos you took when in Croatia. The membership's open to anyone who wants to share their photos.

So I invite all Croats and non-Croats from all around the world who want to share or simply see what here's like... you're welcome to join! :)

Looking for email/pen pals who speak Croatian/SerboCroatian?

Hello!
I'm new here. I'm learning SerboCroatian with an emphasis on the Croatian part of it, and having difficulty because I have nobody to write with or talk to. Which is all very well and good if all I want to say is 'Gdje je WC?' or 'Dobar dan, Gospodine Popovich', but I'd like to be able to actually hold conversations and not just tourist-talk.

I live in the US, but will be traveling to Croatia (Dubrovnik area mostly with a side trip to Zagreb) and to Bosnia next summer.

Anyone out there interested in trading letters? I admit, I'm barely at baby-talk level, but I learn fast. I can read and write in Cyrillic or Latin characters. (Russian language for 8 years, yay :P)

Hvala!

Parties at Croatia

Hi everybody!

I`m going to Croatia (Porec - it`s not far from Pula. Istria) in August.
We`re going to rent a car and visit some towns at istria and Dolmatia.
So I wonder where there are the most funniest places at Istria & Dolmatia, where there are a lot of young people & night parties!
Please, help me! :)
