Stop Drawing Me

A couple months ago one of the children, I won’t say who, demanded that I stop drawing [third person singular feminine pronoun removed]. [Third person singular feminine pronoun removed] feels that I am a nerd and therefore anything I do is nerdy. I believe that is one of the reasons why [third person singular feminine pronoun removed] quit drawing and doing art. It’s sad that my simple existance should drive [third person singular feminine pronoun removed] from such a noble pursuit as art. Currently [Name removed] is taking choir/drama in middle school. I’ve tried not to let [third person singular feminine pronoun removed] know that I did the same when I was in school as I don’t want to end [third person singular feminine pronoun removed] enjoyment of that endeavor too.

The funny thing is, when I started dating my wife I felt I had the most in common with Hana.

A Coat To Fill

When I received the news of Jesse’s passing I was troubled as to what action I should take. Obviously there were issues with how best to tend to Bethaney and Bridget, then there were the questions about any memorial, wake, or celebration of life. Apparently funeral is not only a word that elicits sorrow, but it’s no longer PC.
One of the questions that arose in my mind is where does that leave my comic, there were 2 paths I saw I could take. The first was to separate Jesse from his comic alter ego and continue to pay tribute to him. The second was, using gaming vernacular that he would’ve loved, to retire his character once and for all. I chose the latter, and though I’ve a couple of gauche comics pertaining to my version of World Without A Superman I believed when drawing this that this was the best choice.
Time though, has passed and I may have discovered a third option. Jesse was someone who no matter how long you knew him, you had at least 1 story about him, myself I’ve dozens of stories, true and false that I wanted to tell.
In time I intend to go more into that 3rd option, but for now I’m signing off.

I’d love to hear from anyone who picks up one, I haven’t seen their finished work and I’d like to know what people think.
