The Longest Week...
It's been some kind of a week!
For TV, everything was a rerun. And my week just didn't go too well.
Some things I forgot to mention...
Last week Chris Isaak was on Rosie. He sang a new song from his new CD and I can't wait to get it. I had been looking all over for the new one and couldn't find it. Rosie announced that it doesn't come out until February...that would explain why. Duh! The interview was very cute. He talked about his show on Showtime and why he hasn't recorded for the last three years. He talked to her about her ending her show.
Her last show is March 22nd. I think I've given up on my dream of seeing her show. When I watched the show in high school, I dreamed of going to New York to see it. I still dreamed of it later on, but I really don't see how it will happen. I had some hope for a while because I looked at my schedule and discovered that I don't have any finals during finals week, so I get two whole weeks off during Spring Break. That is one one week before she ends the show. I thought it would work for about five minutes. Then I had to be realistic. I thought of trying for tickets, but I just don't see how it will work. Last week she was giving away umbrellas and don't ask why but that inspired me for about two days. That's over now. I'd love, more than anything, to go, but it won't work. Guess I should have pooled my money for that instead of those stupid trips, huh. This experience would last me a whole lot longer than what those did. Well, live and learn.
I found out that we did see Casey Martin at my church. Under my Christmas entry I said how we went to church Christmas Eve and I thought I saw Casey Martin, but there was a small part of me that didn't believe I really did. My grandma met his mother (I can't say where) and they talked. It turns out that they go to our church and Casey was raised there. He's been going to another church recently, but he goes back to 1st Babtist once in a while. Grandma said she is a very nice lady. That just thrilled me. He seems like a very nice person, I just had a feeling about him.
I got a new DVD. It's of MASH's first season. I just love it! They are completely uncut! FX is airing the show now, but they are slaughtered. In watching these episodes, I see how slaughtered they are. They cut whole schenes out and jokes that would have made other parts make more sense. It also has an optional laugh track, so you can watch the shows with or without the laugh track in the background. It is my favorite DVD and maybe even video. The next season is supposed to come out in May. Just can't wait! For any MASH fan, I'd highly recommend this. It's a must have! (also comes in VHS)
The Weekend...
Friday I felt really good, but I just stayed home. I didn't get anything done that night.
I watched The Tonight Show and liked it. They had "Side Show Freaks" or whatever it's called. They pick people from the audience who can do strange things. Not as good as others they've done. Then they had that lady from Will and Grace. She talked about the Golden Globes. Then some Basketball player or something was on...don't remember his name. He has a candy bar with proceeds going to charity and Jay joked with him when he asked where it was being sold..."....Kmart....You'd better get that money in cash....Yeah, hey Kmart. I want my money now!"
Then Conan. I was falling asleep, but was determined to at least see the beginning. He did his regular jokes. Nothing stood out. Then he went to his desk and as I was waiting for their first skit, I noticed something. He was wearing a wedding ring. He got married. I knew that he was getting married in the middle of January or something, but with the reruns and stuff I didn't know when he had done that. So, now Conan is off the market. On his new years show (which I stupidly recorded over...*hits self in head*), Caroline Ray announced that he was getting married. He didn't talk about it much, just confirmed it. He said, "I'm waiting for the woman who's sad about that. Who's sorry I'm off the market." He had Georger Forman on. They did a skit called "In the Year 2000" which is dumb (like most of his skits), but plays them up right to make them funny. George promoted his grill. Then during the interview, right before I turned off the TV, Conan said, "So, the genius of your machine is that it's tilted so the fat drains off." George went on about how great it works. Conan went on, "But couldn't someone take another grill and tilt it and get the same effect?" George looked at Conan for a few seconds then said, "Conan, you needn't say things like that." It was good, but I was tired.
Last night I finished my MASH book. It was good, but not as good as the show. It has a lot of similarities though.
Yesterday, we went to the store and I bought some things to make cookies. Keep me busy. Then we went to the used book store. I got a five dollar credit for books I had taken in. I couldn't find anything I wanted to get right then, so I just took the credit. I kept thinking of all the books I have here in my room that I need to read yet.
We went to dinner at a Chinese food place, "Oriental Village." They have great food. I felt so full to the point of almost being sick. I stayed on the couch all night long.
Last night Randy Travis was on the Gather hour special: Freedom Band. He played my favorite song of his, Babtism. It was very good. I'm thinking of buying the video. They took a lot of stuff out of the video for an hour special. I've never seen him perform his songs before, so I enjoyed it very much.
Then I watched "Terms of Endearment" on PAX. It's been a while since I've seen that. The end made me cry. After that I watched "Twice in a Lifetime." It was a really good one. It was about a bitter woman who collects cats. She dies when a statue falls on her head. She is bitter about being in an orphanige as a child. She is taken back to that time and taught how to love and what family really is. It was good.
After that I did a little homework. Then got caught up in MSNBC. They did an hour special on the NBC correspondents over in Afganistan. They showed where they live, what they eat, what they live with and work with, the people. It was so interesting. Am I becoming a fan of MSNBC? I don't know. I watched it for about two hours last night. I found it soothing, almost comforting.
Today I did homework and then went over to the new Wal-Mart. I bought a few things. Found a great outfit, but didn't buy it. It was kind of like sweats, but more dressy. Very cute pants and top set.
Now I'm getting ready for the new week. I cleaned my room today. That feels good too. We got snow again! Yesterday it really came down for about five minutes. It was beautiful. It didn't stick and I didn't get it on camera :( When I was at Fred Meyer doing my shopping it started again. I fought my way to the car. I loved it!
I should get going. Take care. As Duke (MASH) would say, So long, y'all!
Something I like: The new Wal-Mart. It's MUCH bigger!
Something I dislike: When you can't find a video you want at the video store. (Where can I find "Going My WAY"?!
