Went and saw BOWLING FOR SOUP last night :D First time they've ever played in Australia!!
They were playing alongside PENNYWISE, SUM 41 and THE VANDALS, but I didn't care about any of them so I just went for BFS and left :P
Good (but waaay to short!) set, of Last Rock Show, Almost, Ohio (Come Back to Texas), Highschool Never Ends, Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash cover), and 1985
The guitarist is a large lad :D His stage antics were highly amusing too :D
Hi all! Just a quick life, universe, everything update.
Life is great - still loving the whole amazing-girlfriend-and-instant-family-living-with-me thing. Its challenging, but grand :-)
We all attended Supanova yesterday. Didn't get any autographs as I already have Jewel Staite's and Teryl Rothery's autographs. Figured I'd save my money, so I can get Morena Baccarin's and Haydn's autographs when I go to Sydney supanova in a few months ;-)
But I did buy issue 1 of the new Serenity comic :-D
Mum is still not-so-good. Just spoke to her then and she sounded okay, but apparently they think it *could* be Parkinsons Disease :-(
Work? Well there is an interesting kettle fish. Basically on Friday 2nd May I will walk away from my desk working for TABCORP, and Monday 5th May I will return to the same desk but be walking for EDS.
For my American friends (and, anyone who has a knowledge of American politics), EDS is the company founded by H Ross Perot, most famous for running unsuccessfully for President of USA about a decade(?) ago.
Should be interesting - I'll be getting a tiiiidy severance payment from TABCORP, plus a 10% 'sign on' bonus from EDS, and be doing exactly the same job, and getting paid exactly the same monies!!
Luelle and I went and saw Vanishing Point and Helloween last night. Ringing ears, sore throat, sore feet - but a great night.
Opening band Sedition were pretty ordinary - why, why, WHY would a local opening act, that have 30 minutes to impress people, do a cover of 2 MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT?????? Seriously, 90% of the crowd there (which was probably around 200+) would have heard Maiden do it in the flesh recently. I was bemused.
Vanishing Point came on at about 9.05 and played a 45 minute, 8 song set. Heaps of energy, marred somewhat by a pretty muddy mix which was unfortunate. Their music is quite technical and intricate, and it loses its grandeur if the mix is crap.
A nice quick changeover saw the Helloween LET THERE BE ROCK/GAMBLING WITH DEVIL intro kick in at about 10.15pm. High energy set, great song list (one glaring ommission from the new album though - why do they not play "The Saints"??????) saw them finish a bit after midnight.
Got a few photos and a video (just one song - got told off for taking video, not sure if that was a band-thing or a venue-thing) which I'll post later.
