 Hey, everyone.  I don't see any reason to keep the stories from being posted if you wish for this year's zine. Feel free to reclaim. Also, I have no problems if you wanted to embed the frontispieces if you like them created for your stories (credit would be nice ;). I would not be insulted, either, if you didn't. Just making them (and any from the past) available to you for your use since I created them for you.

It's not to early to be thinking about next year's stories. Main theme is h/c.

Here is the preliminary programming schedule for each day, along with basic panel descriptions that might or might not match your ideas when you suggested them. If I got it really wrong, email me and I'll adjust. If it's vaguely what you were thinking, let it go and just subtly influence the panel in the direction you wanted.

If I've forgotten you, I'm very, very sorry. There is one panel open (last/Sunday), which I will be happy to prefill or we can leave it open and decide at con. (I've listed some of what we aren't discussing as such this year under it, and if there are more you'd like to propose, let me know so we can vote or something.)

As an aside to forgetting panels and/or removing one and adding a new one; I've put two Sherlock discussion in the schedule, one a comparative one about all Sherlocks, and one specific to the BBC Sherlock. For you Sherlock fans, is this desirable or can the first serve double duty? Also, for the Inception panel, did someone have a specific idea to discuss?

If you're panel is scheduled at a horrible time that you cannot make it, I will take under consideration the moving of a couple, but something has to go first each day, and especially Friday. If it's because you're not going to roll out of bed on time to start when the con does, I feel for you -- especially those of you going to the Thursday midnight showing -- but I am also trying to be fair to those who are coming to attend the con. I'll do what I can to be as accommodating as I can.

2) Soda choices for the hospitality suite: if you email me today and tomorrow with the kinds of soda you'd like in the HS, that would be great; I'm picking them up Sunday (there will be bottled water too).

3) Product stuff, ie: what to you want me to bring to sell to you?

If you are looking for photos of hotties, I'm planning on bringing Avengers, Sherlock, Hawaii Five-0 and White Collar. If you want someone or a show not on that list, I also need to know today or tomorrow as I have to place my order by Sunday. I have limited to great access to many press kit and other Hollywood photos, though not everything, of course, and the BBC stuff is more limited. (If you have a url that shows me what you're looking for specifically, I might be able to wrangle the real image from the photographer thanks to my friend in the industry.

T-shirt-wise, in addition to my website (www.awit.com), which I might or not have what's there in stock, if you wanted to look at www.trevcoinc.com, they are one of my biggest suppliers, plus they probably have the largest selection of licensed tees in the biz -- many many shows and movies. I'm not positive all the Dark Knight stuff will be available in time, but I think anything else on the site would. I will be placing my order with them on Monday with the hope that their printing of the DK stuff won't slow them down too much to have my order done in time for constrict. Pretty much everything on their site is available sm - xxxl as a regular tee. They do also do babydolls and 'women's' cut tees, though I've yet to get a good women's cut to let me know the difference between it and the babydolls. The babydolls or junior cuts are sizes very small and tight; you'd need at least one size larger than you would in a regular tee and, pretty much, you probably shouldn't be bigger than Emu. I can't advise on the women's cuts, sorry, but I'm assuming they have a scoopier neckline and possibly a smaller, bell like sleeve. They're definitely going to be shorter. So, anyway, I'd need your order by Sunday afternoon for tees.

If there's anything else you'd like me to try and bring, ComicCon is the week before, so I might be able to find stuff I don't normally carry.

Prelim Programming schedule will be up this weekend. Don't know yet if I've got open slots but, again, if you have thought up another topic or show/movie you want to discuss, try to let me know today.

My apologies for having posted this to the yahoo group a couple of days ago, and not yet posting it here. A couple of updates have been included since the yahoo post.

If you haven't registered yet but are still planning on coming, please let me know even if you can't pay until the con. I have to give my final numbers to the hotel for food, and I have to determine how many rooms I might have to pay for out of my pocket if we haven't made our room nights.  (So if you haven't booked your room, you really need to do that by the weekend, please.)

Also, if you're listed but are going to have to back out, I need to know that right away, please.

Lastly, same deal more or less as regular -- Badge requests, please. As far as the zine, at the moment everyone might be getting a cd -- you can still ask me for a paper copy, I just cannot promise it will be there at the con (I'll give this year's paper copies next year or if I see you sooner; I've got a compressed nerve in my neck, so some things are not as easy as they should be, plus I've been having to go for many tests and specialists and time is just getting away from me, Especially with ComicCon the week before.

Hotel
What is left in our hotel block of set aside rooms are singles. For once, we're
not the only group in the hotel, so they can't change our block either -- at
least not at this time. So what I've been advised is that when you make your
reservation from this point on, book the single, but let them know you'd prefer
a double should one become available. Basically, the other groups also have room
blocks, and if some of those get turned back in, not filled, or changed to
singles, thus freeing up doubles, the hotel is supposed to go to the list of
who's looking to change. There is no guarantee there will be any that become
available, of course, nor a guarantee that the hotel will actually do this if
you make the request other than perhaps during actual check-in, but that's what
I've been advised to pass on.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but glad to know folks are making their
reservations...

Scholarship Guest

James has notified me that she must back out of this year's con due to RL
getting in the way. With only a couple of months left until the con, I'm not
sure it would be advisable to try and pick a new guest -- I have also told James
that she would be welcome in a future year so, technically, the 'scholarship' is
still earmarked for her though I'm not the IRS so I can fudge the
accountability. Do people want to try for a new guest, just go as we are, or
something else I've not suggested? Comments please.

Zine
So, is anyone writing stories for the zine? I really like to keep our
tradition, but blank pages around 1-2 stories doesn't really a zine make, no
matter the format. Soft and sane deadline is June 13, theme is transportation/a
trip; gambling; the Operation of the Cosmos (or oneness and completeness with
the universe); and silk, linen or pearl.

Programming

Now is as good a time as any to start thinking panels. Even if you don't have a
specific topic, I'd like an idea of current fandoms you guys are following. Or
current trends for meta discussions. Remember, you don't have to volunteer to
lead a panel in order to suggest one, though if someone *wants* to lead a panel,
I'd be happy to offer a slot. If anyone is intended a workshop or instructional
panel, I need to know those too.

Other bits
I should be posting a current membership list tomorrow; yes, we need more
attendees.

If you plan on vidding for the con, please email me directly, with an idea of
when your vid would be ready.

Metro PD is really on a tear about pedestrians getting hit by cars (incidents
are way up), so remember to be aware of your surroundings at all times, and DO
NOT JAYWALK just because we're in the middle of the block and the lights are too
far away.

It's an election year and politicians do like to come to Vegas despite how they
say not to waste the money on such a place -- I have no idea of anyone expected
in our time frame but, for instance, today the First Lady was here are REALLY
F*D UP TRAFFIC -- they often use Flamingo to get to/from the airport even when
they're not staying near Flamingo, so your schedule might be affected if we're
really unlucky our weekend.

Many of the roads all over Vegas are under construction/repairs, so traffic
sucks and sometimes you can't get there the way you did in the past. Especially
those of you who aren't staying in our hotel.

This space is not for rent, but I can be bought.

So, no one else made a nomination. No vote then, and I guess I'll just invite James. If she turns us down, I would appreciate some ideas when I ask for them again.

I'm nominating James Walkswithwind.
She's been a friend of the con in providing fic for our zine a couple of
times, is someone from the good old TPM days, and is currently writing
in Leverage and Hawaii Five-0 amongst other things. I know she's
attended conventions in the past though I don't recall seeing her real
recently -- and never at ConStrict. I believe she's living in California
which is an easier travel/expense in these difficult days.


Also, I am personally inviting (and matching the scholarship
fund if she says yes) to Auburn for 2012. This one we don't have to vote
on since I'm covering it, but I did want to mention it to the rest of
you. I will also offer a free membership if someone else wants to match
the scholarship ($125) and sponsor their own fan to try and bring our
membership up as we bribe our friends to come.
