There may still be a few bugs to be squashed, so please let us know if you see anything wonky.

Con-G 2012 Art Contest

Con-G 2012 Art Contest!

Original artwork to be used on our graphic advertising - Program booklet, Buttons, Posters and other items. Contest entries may also be used on our website and in our convention advertising.

All artwork submitted to the contest must feature our mascot, Kon. Kon is a young Japanese style dragon that enjoys all aspects of geek culture. He's green with a grey underside and has a purple mane and tail with tufts of purple on his elbows, heels, and his chin. He has three toes on each foot, two small horns and green expressive ears and a large tooth on either side that sticks out. The overall impression of Kon is a friendly, fun loving little dragon.

All artwork should be full colour with clean lines and images should be print ready. You may include Con-G's logo and year in your entry, but it is not required. You can submit two versions, one with the year and one without. Feel free to include your artist's mark or signature in the artwork, but try to keep it small so it doesn't take away from the image. You can create your artwork however you chose. Totally by hand art is acceptable as well as computer generated or scanned and coloured. If you create your entry by hand, please ensure to scan it at a high quality.

The contest is open to everyone, both amateur and professional artists. There is no limit to how many entries can be submitted, but must be submitted by individual artists (no collaborations).
Reference images of Kon can be seen here in our deviantART group.

Prizes
Grand Prize - The Winner will receive a free Artist Alley Pass for Con-G 2012. (This includes the weekend membership and space in the artist alley).
Runner Up - The runner up winner will receive a free weekend pass for Con-G 2012
Young Artist (age 14 or under) – The winner will receive a free weekend pass for Con-G 2012 for themselves and a parent or guardian.

The Grand Prize winner will be decided by the Con-G Staff. All decisions are final.

To Enter the Contest!
Please read all of the the Contest Guidelines and make sure you understand them.

When your artwork is finished and awesome, this is how you need to submit it to us:

Option ONE:
Upload your image to your dA account and submit it to our group into the featured section.
Then send us an e-mail to info@con-g.com with you real name, Deviant-Art Name (or Nick name that you want used), the URL of the image, your age (if entering the young artist category) and an e-mail address that we can contact you with. (If you have your own website - you can host it there and give us the link)

Option TWO:
Send us an e-mail to info@con-g.com with you real name, Nickname (if that's what you want used), your age (if entering the young artist category) and an e-mail address that we can contact you with. Attach an electronic copy of your artwork in .jpg format, no larger than 200kb, please rename each file you plan to submit this way: your_name_01.jpg.

All entries must be at least 600dpi resolution. You may send a smaller or lower resolution version of your artwork to the contest for judging if you wish, as long as you have a higher resolution version available upon request.

When Do I Have To Send It?
All email entries must be received by midnight E.D.T, October 31th 2011. Winners will be announced on November 15th. If the winning artist has already purchased an artist alley space, their fee will be refunded.

Rights to all images will transfer to Con-G Entertainment. After the contest closes, we'll continue to display the entries on our deviant-ART and they may be used in future promotional material.

Con-G 2011 Wrap Up

Con-G 2011 is now over, and we feel all warm and fuzzy saying it was the biggest and best year for Con-G so far!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped and everyone who came! Thank you to all the guests, artists, dealers, attendees, and everyone for making our third year such a success. A big thank you to our volunteers and everyone who helped out with various tasks and to everyone who participated in our many events through out the weekend. A huge thank you to our sponsors, The Dragon and Queen of Hearts.

Our attendance topped 700 people this year (705, if you want to be exact), which is an amazing 35% increase over last year. We also had twice as many people staying for the entire weekend over last year. Thank you to everyone who attended!

The Masquerade was great again this year, thanks to our amazing judges (Kaijugal, Featherweight, Darthmarysue) and our fabulous and funny MC Ricky Dick. We worked hard to get a functional video/audio feed showing in the Green Room, and while there could be some improvements, we’re glad to be able to say that both sound and video worked this year! ;)

This year, Con-G had its first ever voice actor guest, Brad Swaile. We would like to thank him for being such a great guy, and for being so incredibly nice to our staff as we bumbled our way through the etiquette of inviting our first guest. ;) The Evil Laughter Contest on Sunday was a big hit with Brad (the voice of “Light” from Death Note) running it!

Thanks again to everyone who helped make Con-G 2011 a big success!
xoxo The Con-G Staff

Dr. Holocaust’s Evil Plans for Con-G

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Toronto’s greatest super-villain has a message for you!

[Just to clarify: Wil Wheaton is not actually coming to Con-G. If he sees this video and accepts the good evil Doctor's challenge/invitation, he's more than welcome to show up, but don't get mad at us if he's not here. ;) Lar and the Savage Bandito are indeed coming.]

The Doctor here has graciously agreed to take some time off from his villainous scheming to come speak at Con-G, so you’d better listen.

Only 7 more days to pre-register and save $5!

Psstt! Stay tuned for a super mystery announcement coming in the next couple days!
