Hello. My nephew has a netbook and as I've been using it, there have been so many pop-ups that it's made my head spin. I'm absolutely positive that he has several viruses and malware. Problem is, anytime I attempt to go to Avast (which I have on my own computer) or any of the other sites you all suggested on your main page for both virus protection and malware protection, the laptop won't connect me to them at all. I have no REAL problems with other sites except the ones that are credible antivirus.

So, should I attempt to use a proxy to bypass the viruses? Are there any free and credible antivirus programs for netbooks that anyone could suggest?

Absolutely anything would be appreciated. I'm at my wits end with it.

Thank you everyone for helping! I actually figured out how to solve it. I used an online proxy and linked to avast and a malware site. I really do think the viruses were blocking me from getting to them before. I was able to download the needed software for what I needed.

In case you were wondering, Avast detected over 700 security threats so I'm glad I was able to figure it out.

Again, thanks everyone for your help.
