TEA FRIEND NEEDED

I know this is a really really long shot, but I was curious if anyone on here was from the Dallas area of Texas...or anywhere near there, really.
I'm moving there in about 4 months, and would absolutely LOVE to have a Tea Friend once I get there.
It would be pretty awesome.
Thanks for reading :-)

How to Clean the Inner Container of a CD-WBC30 / CD-WBC40 with Citric Acid

Typed this up for myself for easier reference when I perform citric acid cleaning (which is unfortunately less often than every 3 months). Though there may be at least one or two of you out there who would find this useful... I also have it in a more formatted .doc form if anyone would like me to e-mail that to them.

Without any further ado:

How to Clean the Inner Container with Citric Acid (CD-WBC30 / CD-WBC40)
Perform every 1-3 month(s) of usage

Do not drink the water used for citric acid cleaning.
Note: In order to prevent gas bubbles and bubbling-over, the citric acid Activated Descaling Cleaner (ADC-05) or Inner Container Cleaner for Electric Pots (CD-K03E-JU) is recommended for cleaning. To purchase this cleaner, please visit an authorized Zojirushi dealer or www.zojirushi.com.

Preparation: Check that the Filter is attached to the Inner Container.
Note: If the Filter is dirty, remove it from the Inner Container, was with a soft brush and reinstall.

1. Put 1 pack of citric acid ADC-05 or CD-K03E-JU and add warm water to dissolve. Pour it into the Inner Container and fill with water to the Maximum Water Level Line.
Note: Do not fill over the Maximum Water Level Line. (Hot water may spill out, resulting in scalds.)

2. Close the Upper Lid, insert the Power Plug and press the REBOIL button for more than 3 seconds.
Beeps when the cleaning process begins. Both (the REBOIL and TEMP SET) lights will blink. The square shown in the display rotates.
Beeps when the cleaning process is completed. Both (the REBOIL and TEMP SET) lights will stop blinking and stay on. LCD display will show a (non-rotating) square.

Cleaning time: Approx. 1.5 hours. *Cleaning times may vary depending on the amount of water, water temperature, and room temperature.

3. Unplug the Power Plug, detach the Upper lid, and dispose water where indicated "EMPTY FROM HERE."
Note: Repeated citric acid cleaning might be necessary for hard-to-remove residues.

4. To remove the smell of citric acid, fill the Inner Container with water. Boil and dispense about a cup of hot water, allow to cool, then dispose the remaining water.

If Alkalized Ionic Water is used, calcium will tend to build up on the surface of the Inner Container. If scale accumulates on the Inner Container or the Filter, boiling may become louder than usual and water may not dispense smoothly.

To cancel the citric acid cleaning at any time, unplug the Power Plug for more than 5 seconds.

Thé Metropolitan Tea Company

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone else had ever tried any of the teas from Thé Metropolitan Tea Company. We have a wide selection of their teas at my work, and on their website you can't even see their selection unless you're a vendor. If you have tried their stuff, what did you think? :o)

Strange question. When I went to Teavana a few weeks ago I got a free sample of their german rock sugar, and it tastes pretty good in tea: http://www.teavana.com/tea-product…

Is this basically just unprocessed sugar, or is it something special? Is it the same thing as sugar in the raw? I was hoping I could get it at a grocery store since the only teavana shop is a good drive from my place. Thanks. :D

Cooking with tea

I'm curious about cooking with tea. I have a lot of loose tea that I'd like to experiment with. Mostly different types of fruit tea (lots of black tea, some green and the occasional rooibos). So has anyone got any recommendations? It can be for anything! Cakes, bread, cookies, anything. I just want to try something.

Thanks!

EDIT: Thank you for all your suggestions. I'm looking forward to trying them!

Tea blend decant circle?

So, I know we don't get posts on here too often, but a few years ago I ran an Adagio Teas custom blends decant circle that was pretty successful, and if there's enough interest, I'd like to run another one! I guess that brings me to my questions:

Question 1. Is there any interest? The benefit to the circle is getting to try out a bunch of different tea blends without committing to 4 oz of it, since the site doesn't offer samples for custom blends.

Question 2. If you would be interested, which blends would you want to try? Their blends list is here.

As for a time frame, if there's interest, I'd like to try to get everything organized and payments in before Thanksgiving, order, and then do the decanting probably at the beginning of December so everything is wrapped up before Christmas. Shipping would most likely be in priority flat rate boxes, for as much as they would hold, and I think I would be willing to ship internationally as long as it was to a country that allows tea to be sent in (Australia, I'm looking at you!)

Also, I am going to cross post this around to other communities and see how much support I can get. If you are interested, please comment and keep an eye out for future posts!

Hey everyone! I've got some time on my hands now that my classes are settling down, and I'm using it to start a traveling tea box.

I'd like to keep the group small, so if we have enough we can break it into two groups. Just e-mail me at loose_leaf_tea@hotmail.com with your name and tea preferences and I'll see about setting up a group or two. I'm aiming to send out by the 7th of November, so this is really going to move.

Cheers!

I've recently become aware of a tea shop in my area, so I went to investigate and saw that they have both bulk tea blends and bulk tea ingredients. I'd LOOOOVE to make my own tea blends, but I've no idea where to start, so... Does anyone know of any tea recipes? I tend to like stuff that's not overwhelmingly bitter, so that's my only "requirement". =P

The only recipes I've been able to find online are for chai tea. (I'm not complaining at all; I love chai tea! I'd just like some variety, yaknow?)
