This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Hola Fernando, ¡enhorabuena por esas preciosas fotos de catedrales con las que has contribuido en el proyecto1. Acabo de ver tu nominación a FP de la sala capitular de Sevilla. La calidad/el detalle es extraordinario y para mí un plus (las 3 cosas que evalúo siempre son calidad/detalle, luz y composición/valor del elemento principal) para FP pero por otro lado no entiendo la composición, ¿qué tratas de enseñar en esa fotografía? Aunque me encanta el suelo, el elemento más predominante de la composición son los pivotes que realmente son feos, y tapan el sillón, que podría haber sido un elemento interesante. No sé lo que hubiera hecho yo en esa situación, quizás haberme concentrado sólo en el suelo, o sólo en el techo, pero ambos con esos armatostes en medio creo que no va a funcionar. Saludos! Hola! Gracias por el comentario. La foto es una vista general, la composición está centrada a nivel horizonte con el sillón en el medio. Claro que me hubiese gustado que entre más, pero había mucha cola como para recrearme ;). Los bolardos o como se llamen son un incordio, sí, pero no me molestan. Es un ruido creo yo esperable en fotografía amateur, como otros turistas frente a una fachada. Feel free de votar negativo, en mi opinión tiene una calidad suficiente y es la mejor representación del espacio entre las subidas a la categoría. Saludos! I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.
Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!
