Thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments 2013! Please help with this survey.

Dear Effems,
Thank you for contributing to Wiki Loves Monuments 2013, and for sharing your pictures with the whole world! We would like to ask again a few minutes of your time.

Thanks to the participation of people like you, the contest gathered more than 365,000 pictures of cultural heritage objects from more than 50 countries around the world, becoming the largest photography competition to have ever taken place.

You can find all your pictures in your upload log, and are of course very welcome to keep uploading images and help develop Wikimedia Commons, even though you will not be able to win more prizes (just yet).

If you'd like to start editing relevant Wikipedia articles and share your knowledge with other people, please go to the Wikipedia Welcome page for more information, guidance, and help.

To make future contests even more successful than this year, we would like to invite you to share your experiences with us in a short survey. Please fill in this short survey in your own language, and help us learn what you liked and didn't like about Wiki Loves Monuments 2013.

Kind regards,

the Wiki Loves Monuments team

Thanks for uploading File:Vecchio Duomo Barcellona.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{self|cc-zero}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Dear Effems,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.

Concorso Wiki Loves Monuments Italia 2018 (English version)

Grazie, Nemo 16:04, 12 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Stai creando categorie sbagliate

edit

Mi spieghi perché Category:San Francesco all'Immacolata (Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto) è inserita in Category:Altars in San Francesco all'Immacolata (Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto) - External?

Buon lavoro ! DenghiùComm (talk) 07:51, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Riccardo Casalaina 02 02 2022.JPG.

Thank you.

Churches in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Messina-Lipari-Santa Lucia del Mela

Churches in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Acireale (FATTO)
Churches in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Caltagirone (NON FATTO)
Churches in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Catania (FATTO)

edit

Buongiorno Effems,

Qui puoi consultare Il regolamento completo e per qualsiasi dubbio puoi scrivere a contatti@wikilovesmonuments.it.

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Borgo dei Parrini (Palermo) 22 10 2023 28.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

A proposito dello spostamento della Category:Holy Week in Trapani 2018

edit

Esempio:
Holy Week, Holy Week in Italy, Holy Week in Sicily, Holy Week in Enna, Holy Week in Enna 2000
Processions in Sicily, Processions in Messina, Vara di Messina, Processione Vara dell'Assunta - Anno 2019
Carnivals of Italy, Carnival 2023 in Italy, Carnivals in Sicily, Carnival of Acireale, Carnival of Acireale - 2023
Events in Palermo, LGBT events in Palermo, Gay Pride in Palermo, Palermo Pride 2023
Saluti--EFFEMMESSE 10:26, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

How to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category

edit

When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available or {{SD|C1}} if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused. In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page, as you did at Category:Settimana Santa di Sessa Aurunca. ("C1" and "C2" come from Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion). 2022 Picture of the Year: Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) and Gadwall (Mareca strepera) in Nepal.

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Attività in Sicilia e lista di diffusione

edit

Salve!

Category:San_Rocco_(Nasari,_Barcellona_Pozzo_di_Gotto)_-_Exterior has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at [[{{{2}}}|its entry]].

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

This year is the nineteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons.

Church in Carlentini?

edit

Bundesarchiv Bild 101I-303-0554-15, Italien, Sturmgeschütz in Ortschaft

Hi @Effems, you've assigned the file Bundesarchiv Bild 101I-303-0554-15 to Carlentini some time ago. I'm trying to identify the exact location and the little church in the background, but I wasn't able to find the exact place inside Carlentini. Could you please provide additional details regarding the depicted place? Thanks a lot and have a nice day! Fl.schmitt (talk) 13:10, 4 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

I saw the photo in question uncategorized on WIKIMEDIA, published as a free post on FACEBOOK. The article asked readers if they recognized the place.
A few factors narrowed the field:
1) Only people of a certain age who had experienced the war could understand the context and location; :2) The bus stop marks a connection in southeastern Sicily; :3) The sign next to the church door indicates Catania; :4) The sign on the pole indicates Valsavoia.
The elderly recognized a place that no longer exists, indeed, transformed, on the Catania-Syracuse route immediately after the Allied landings and the Armistice of Cassibile. Carlentini, precisely. Although many people have identified and recognized the small church, I believe it no longer exists today or has been rebuilt with the same name elsewhere. I therefore recommend further research on the various Facebook pages to find the news.

1)     Solo gente di una certa età che avevano vissuto la guerra potevano comprendere il contesto e la località;
2)     La fermata dell’autobus definisce un collegamento della Sicilia sudorientale;
3)     Il cartello accanto il portone della chiesa indica Catania;
EFFEMMESSE 21:30, 4 November 2025 (UTC)

Hello Effems,

The world’s traditions are disappearing faster than we can document them, but you can help change that.

On behalf of the Wiki Loves Folklore International Team, we are reaching out to invite you to contribute to the 2026 edition of our global campaign.

Share Your Cultural Heritage with the World

Wiki Loves Folklore is an international media contest dedicated to documenting the "intangible" beauty of our cultures. Whether it’s the vibrant colours of a folk festival, the rhythm of a traditional dance, the secrets of a family recipe, or the legends of your hometown, your media helps preserve these legacies for generations to come.

How You Can Contribute Participating is simple, and every upload contributes to the world's largest free knowledge repository:

  • Capture: Take photos, record videos, or capture audio of folk activities, music, mythology, or traditional wear.
  • Upload: Share your files on Wikimedia Commons between 1 February 2026 and 31 March 2026.
  • Win: Beyond the satisfaction of preservation, there are international prizes for the most impactful contributions.

Ready to get started? Click here to upload your media now or visit the Main Project Page for full rules and category details.

Your perspective is a vital piece of the global cultural puzzle. We can't wait to see the folklore you bring to life.

Warm regards,

#WeTogether

Altars

edit

Ciao Effems.

Ti auguro buon lavoro e buon tutto. DenghiùComm (talk) 09:49, 2 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2025 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year is the twentieth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favourite images featured on Commons during the last year (2025) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. edit

Dear Wikimedian,

You are receiving this message because we noticed that you previously voted in the Picture of the Year contest. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favourite images featured on Commons during the last year (2025) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

In this second and final round, you may vote for a maximum of five images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2025.

Round 2 will end at UTC.

WLM-app takes a walk on the wild side!

edit

Hello Effems.

You can now use the WLM app not only to upload your photos for Wiki Loves Monuments, but also to take part in Wiki Loves Earth - Sweden!

From May 1 to May 30, you’ll have the chance to share photos of Sweden’s natural areas and join the contest directly from the app.

Announcing the Winners of Picture of the Year 2025!

edit

Hi everyone,

Wikimedia Commons is pleased to finally announce the winners of this year's Picture of the Year 2025 contest! We had some truly incredible finalists to choose from, but the community has spoken.

Here are your top three winning images:

You can view the full results and see where all your favorite images placed here: Full 2025 Results

I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.

Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!

Regards,
ZI Jony
