obviously it's stupid and exhausting when people try and argue that you can never try to help someone figure out they're trans because of the "egg prime directive", but I do agree with them on one principle, which is that trying to tell somebody else what they are is just kind of rude? like, if I had a male friend who was suffering for reasons that were clearly related to gender, I think it would be incomprehensibly cruel of me not to tell him "there are other options for you, you can always live your live in a way that makes you happier, you should give some thought as to what that would look like," but I would never tell him "You Are A Trans Woman"--not because I hate trans women and want to keep them closeted, but because it would be presumptuous of me to assign him a particular identity based on my own assumptions, no matter what those assumptions are

...and also because there are things you're allowed to be other than a Man or a Woman but I guess we're not allowed to talk about that anymore

sometimes people on here talk about "accountability" in a way that shows they think that the person they've decided is in the wrong can't actually do anything to redeem themselves other than like. suicide.

Things Accountability IS:

  • Apologising for the harm that you've caused.
  • Trying to change your behaviour.
  • Accepting that not everyone will forgive you and they don't have to.

Things Accountability ISN'T:

  • Wallowing in your guilt until you think of yourself as nothing but bad.
  • Accepting an overly distressing punishment for your actions.
  • Twisting yourself into knots to make sure everyone knows how disgusted you are by yourself.

Other people can't move on if you never do.

yeeeeeeah I uh I sleep-drove while on ambien I was like....19? Chronic insomnia since I was like 13 They thought the best thing for me was an INSANE HYPNOTIC I did a lot of weird shit on it but the worst was absolutely when I sleep drove and crashed my car Like I WOKE UP in a crashed car wrapped around a tree - no clue where I was or what was happening Apparently I'd been talking to my boyfriend (now husband) and telling him I was gunna drive to his house It was eeeearly in our relationship - amazing he still was into me after that happened 🤣 But he didn't realize I was zonked on ambien and literally asleep Ambien is legitimately a frightening drug - I do NOT recommend it It was a miracle I didn't lose my legs in the crash Luckily I had a really safe car that crumpled perfectly to spare my legs Fucking wild
