I can smell again!

Honestly, I just don't appreciate my sense of smell. I need to treat it to some roses or garlic bread or bacon.... Mmmm... bacon - the food that makes other food worth eating.

I can't believe my long awaited break was spent with my bed, kleenex and really bad tasting neocitron Danielle gave me (it worked though - I was actually able to breath last night!). I will reclaim my last three days - Amy is coming to visit - commence Dance O' Joy. We are going to go to Jason's (Amy really needs to see the projector of happiness) and get Thai food and go to Alpha Dog (Yo JT! Get your act on!) with Erin. There is even the possibility of a full family brunch on Sunday (Maybe Cora's?). But they aren't going to let my sick self around the multiple babies - babies! - that family friends have had. I'll just hang out with the dogs. Seriously, puppies, babies, it is all of the good.

So, my break might have been a bust but here's to my three day weekend!!!

And here's to the Scrubs musical - 29 minutes to download!!

This one's for you, Jana...

I'm feeling a bit at loose ends. I'm so used to being *incredibly* busy that I'm not sure what to do with myself on this two week break from school. I have a huge list on things to do (go to the Science Center, go to yoga, make bread, knit a hat, etc...) but I am finding myself spending most of my time napping with my cat. Which I love, but sleeping 24 hours a day seems a *tad* excessive.

So, suggestions? What would you do with my free time?

I'm a lucky girl! Colin Firth!

I'm not so sure about Boris Karloff though....

This week has been pretty hard. I feel like I've just been dragging my ass from one location to another and that ain't living. I fell asleep at work today! I had just closed up and I told myself I would just sit down for a moment... and then the phone was ringing and it was 40 minutes later!

I think I drooled a bit.

Tomorrow it will be me against the anatomy. No more colouring or knitting while watching Discovery channel DVDs. That was just warm up - it'll just be me, my cue cards and my trail guide (and the Starbucks Card my lovely mom gave to me)!

If only my mother could save me from short lateral hip rotators or foveas or (scary music!!) the talocrural joint!

My Horoscope (I'm a Scorpio):

What happens to buttered toast when it accidentally falls off a table? According to folk wisdom, it's more likely to land buttered face down, and hence create a bigger mess than if it had fallen dry side down. In a research paper published in the European Journal of Physics, Robert A. J. Matthews scientifically verified that this folk wisdom is accurate. Or at least it is when conditions are normal. But conditions are far from normal for you, Scorpio. Cosmic assistance and good luck are flowing your way in such abundance that they're rendering some laws of nature temporarily irrelevant. If you knock your toast off the table each morning for the next 15 days (and it's quite possible you will, given how excitable you are), it's not likely to ever fall butter-side down.

This perfectly describes how my life is going right now. I should buy a lottery ticket.

Pinch me.

The video store I work at got robbed today. A guy came in, obviously on drugs, took out a knife and made my co-worker open the cash and give him what we had. I didn't even see him - I was stocking up the cooler, I was completely blocked from his view and him from mine - but I heard him apologize which was so weird and, in a shocking way, kind of funny. He has a knife on my coworker, *my friend*, the guy who has made me watch School of Rock a thousand times and always sings along, and he's *sorry*. A thief who apologizes (and uses a knife, not a gun, I couldn't have handled a gun) is so.. Canadian. And very sad. He kept saying he was sorry and that he needed the money. Very sad but I'm still too angry to really care right now. So, my co-worker ran after him to see what direction he went in and I called 911...

We were fine, everything was fine, the cops showed up *so* fast and I was trying not to cry because it was just so surprising. One minute you're nice and safe and then... I was still safe, I was fine and so was my friend but the possibility of something horrible was very, very close.

The cops were so fantastic. The one that took my statement noticed I was upset and was so sweet and tried to distract me by talking about our favorite heist movies. So wonderful. His partner let us watch him fingerprint the door and the cash. We had a hilarious conversation about how CSI has made his job a lot harder (apparently *everyone* is a forensic expert now). They were so great. I really cannot get over the greatest of them and my co-worker who was so calm and gave this amazingly detailed description of the robber.

The cool thing is (and there is, strangely enough something cool about this mess) my co-worker has been thinking about becoming a cop after he graduates and now he really wants to. He would be incredible, trust me. If he became a cop, well, that would be beautiful.

I'm still all full of adrenaline. It'll be a while until I sleep.

Gone voting...

... and I hope you all have to. Polls close at 8pm, people! Remember - if you don't vote you don't get to complain and I, personally, love to bitch - the ability to bitch is what makes this country great! That, and Tim Hortons!

So, in conclusion, VOTE!

Merry Christmas!!! Or Merry Statutory Holiday!

I'm going home on the 9:30 train this morning for the holidays so I just wanted to wish everyone the best, happy news years and all that - especially to my people far away. I'm always thinking about you all even when I'm horrible and don't update for months.

FILM FEST TICKET UP FOR GRABS!

Hey All!

I (sadly) have to work tomorrow at six so I cannot enjoy my first film festival ticket. I wanted to let you know you can e-mail me for it, first come, first served. The film is called Sisters In Law, a documentary. Here the TIFF summary:

"Those who believe individuals can’t make a difference haven’t met Mesdames Ntuba and Ngassa. Two powerhouse women from the town of Kumba, Cameroon, they wade right into explosive conflicts, daring to stand up for unpopular causes in the name of justice. These women are crusaders with the law on their side.

Vera Ngassa is a prosecutor, Beatrice Ntuba a judge. They work domestic cases: divorce, spousal abuse, child abuse. Despite its legal focus, this exhilarating documentary of their working lives steers clear of stiff courtroom procedure. Judge Ntuba expresses her outrage when the situation demands it. Both women take active roles in the lives of those who come to them seeking justice."

SCREENING TIMES:
Friday, September 09 6:30 PM PARAMOUNT 4

Let me know! We can meet up tomorrow.

D. is in the house!!!

After all this roommate nonsense I finally feel like the place is mine again. So happy! Old Roomate left her dirty dishes in the sink, clothes in the washer and garbage in the hall. So NOT cool. But now D., Auggie and I are together - finally!!
