Festivids! <333
THANK YOU vidder, for signing up and offering one of these fandoms!! If you already have a vid idea for any of these sources that we matched on, I would love to see it! I am 100% in this for YOU to find a reason to make THAT vid.
If you're looking for ideas or themes, I'm happy to ramble on about these sources and talk about what I love about them. See below :D
I repeat myself, but in case I don't... anything I've ever said before in any exchange letter still applies. ;) <333
I like action vids, recruitment vids, and character vids. I often adore vids to songs and/or genres I'm unfamiliar with and I'm open to any musical style you're looking to vid. In some cases, source dialogue in vids can work well, but I prefer less than seems popular these days and find it distracting when it is overlaid with musical vocals.
Happy or hopeful endings are likely the things that drew me to these canon sources and they're the things I'd love to see celebrated. The theme of 'found family' is catnip to me. Cerebral sci-fi themes and things that evoke a sense of awe and wonderment are also incredibly delightful.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (TV)
Goonies In Space!! <3333 I love all the cliches and all the silliness and I especially love all the kids. Honestly, the fact it's Star Wars feels like a random bonus.
Vagrant Queen (TV)
This show is just fun! OMG. It's ridiculous and fun. I love the dysfunctional found-family of Elida, Amae, and Isaac. I also like the canon pairing of Elida/Amae. The saturated look of this show makes everything super comic-book (which is logical as it's based on comics). I'd love a vid that highlights the adventures and weirdness the crew encounters. An action vid would also be fun!
Murderbot (TV)
An ensemble vid here would be amazing! My favorite characters are Murderbot and Mensah. Ratthi and Pin-Lee are close behind. Alternatively, anything that plays into Sanctuary Moon would be fun, too.
Lost in Space (TV 2018)
I'm on Team Family Robinson (including Don & Robot), Maureen/John, Penny, Maureen, Don & Debbie, Judy, etc. I love everyone in this bar.
I love how they all rely on one another and their perseverance.
Star Trek: Lower Decks (Cartoon)
This show is fun escapism at it's best - over the top and sometimes corny, I adore all the mayhem Mariner gets into. I love all the main lower decks crew, especially Tendi and Rutherford. I also love Shax/T'Ana because they're so ridiculous. I would love a Tendi vid or maybe a Beckett & Freeman vid highlighting their odd mother-daughter relationship. But again, I really do love so much about this show that it'd be hard to go wrong with your own fav. :)
Star Trek: Prodigy
I love that each of the 'crew' has a character arc over the 2 seasons and they grow together and sometimes grow apart, but at the core remain a team.
Murph is a favorite along with Zero. And Dal is just so hard not to root for. I also have a soft spot for Janeway from way back, so I love seeing/hearing her in this series.
Shadow in the Cloud (2020) [SAFETY]
Not in space, but up in the air - so close? IDK. Maude Garrett is a badass and while this movie has a (mostly) predictable formula, it's highly entertaining and I love the visuals.
The Wild Robot (2024) [SAFETY]
Honestly, this movie is just like being wrapped up in a cozy hug and all the critters are delightful. It was the feel-good movie I needed this summer.
Prospect (2018) [SAFETY]
Pedro Pascal's face is a fandom and this movie does not disappoint. It has a very retro sci-fi feel to it and doesn't rely on non-stop action or flashy special effects. In some ways it's very melancholy and stark. I do like the hopeful ending.
Contact (1997) [SAFETY]
I was inspired to rewatch (and vid) during last year's
festivids and it reminded me how much I really love this movie. It captures the skepticism of our modern era and reminds us of the hope and wonder that looking up at the sky has always had for us. Plus, Jodie Foster.

I picked as many as I could...
