Happy Bubble is up and working!

That's right, Happy Bubble is officially BACK! You can see it at http://www.samuraigirl.net/bubble/. There are still some bugs to work out, but I think it's coming along really well. Any current or former member of the Colgate Anime Society whom I can trust with a password is welcome to email me at lacontessa@samuraigirl.net to sign up. You get unlimited (for the moment, anyway) storage for your anime/manga/jdrama-related media, and I allow hyperlinks, so you can store your icons and such for contests. In the future, this is something we can use to show the BAC that we do more than sit around and watch cartoons.

Happy Bubble returns!

This is just an FYI that Happy Bubble, the free Colgate Anime Society online media hosting site, will be up hopefully by the end of this week! Any current or former member who can be trusted with a log-in/password to my personal domain is welcome to host music videos, icons, or other forms of anime/manga/jdrama-related media (no blatant pornography, and no fansubs/scanlations). I'll post again when it's online--in the meantime, get creating!

In unrelated news, I highly recommend the live action Lovely Complex movie from last year. You will giggle happily, I guarantee it.

Happy Bubble - yes or no? Are people still interested in offsite icon hosting? Do we want space to host other things besides icons? Or is everyone content with LJ and YouTube?

The site's still down and y'all would have to reupload everything if we restarted it, but it wouldn't be too difficult for me to get the site ready to go. My host was supposedly going to find a program for me to use to organize everything, so that should help.

pimpage --> samurai_chan Y'all know you want to listen to me ramble on and on about Rock Lee anime, manga, and jdrama. And Rock Lee . . . No, seriously, I'm thinking of re-watching the series as I buy the uncut boxes, so there could even be some Naruto on there before the fillers end.

I think it's a great discussion of what defines an anime fan. I doubt that just cosplaying makes a "superfan" (which I would have called myself before I ever started cosplaying), and I'm a little annoyed they didn't bring up the artistic challenge aspect of why people do it, but it was interesting to get different perspectives.

I have an opinion on why I prefer anime to American media, but I'll save it for a bit ^_^ What do y'all think, on the cosplaying or relative value of media issues?

This is just a heads up. I moved my site to OtakuExperience.bravehost.com. Everything has been edited or is in the process of being edited so things should sound a bit more intelligent.

Manga --> Live Action

Animaxis reported in this article that oricon style published a ranking of the top 20 manga people would like to see as a live action movie. I thought the lists were 1. interesting and 2. a good conversation piece, so I translated them.

Mad props to the animenewsnetwork.com manga encyclopedia for knowing about series I've never even remotely heard of before. Check there if you're curious about any of these.

Sooooo . . . what do y'all think should be made into live action (manga or anime, LA series or movie)?

I second the Naruto and Ouran Koukou votes. I'm really curious about the special effects Naruto would require, and Ouran Koukou is such a hilarious manga that I imagine a live action would be even better. There's already a live action Bleach musical, so I could that being converted into a (non-musical) movie or something (please? Their Ichigo was pretty perfect for the part). Other than that, my choice is obvious: Hana-Kimi. It would make an amazing LA (or anime) series, and it needs to become one or the other soon. I'll stop now because I don't want to take anyone else's choices and I know a few people will probably say the several other series I have in mind ^_^
