“A great-sword?” Gustave said raising his eyebrows “that’s… different. Why did you go with that and not something else?”
“She fights like my friend, Simon” Verso replied “hard, aggressive… all of that. I figured it would be a good fit for her”
“You have a good eye for things like that. I don’t think I would have entertained the idea had it been me taking that class” he admitted.
“You would if you’d have seen how she fights, she needed a sword that could deal with the way she was trying to move. But Gus, you should have seen the smile on her face…” Verso told him “I’d forgotten how good it felt to get that first attack of your own, she just laughed. Mid fight, she laughed like it was the best day of her life”
Gustave leaned his elbows on the dining room table and watched Verso as he talked, the pride in his words evident as his eye’s sparkled in the low light. He knew the younger man would be good as a combat instructor, that it would be good for him personally. But Gustave had never imagined just how much more alive Verso would become as his connections with his students grew, it reminded Gustave of his apprentices and how much they had grown while he had taught them. He could see the same pride he felt reflected in Verso’s eyes as he talked about his students, and he smiled widely.
“I am looking forwards to seeing what happens next week” he said with a smile “are you still planning the field exercise?”
“Oh yeah, we are absolutely doing that” Verso laughed “and it’s going to be even better with you there”
“Well I have to say I’m curious about the whole thing” Gustave smiled as he gathered their plates and moved into the kitchen, Verso followed close behind him “and I know that its relatively harmless, which is confusing but I’m sure that will all make sense eventually”
“You will have to wait and see, mon amour” Verso said as he moved over to the sink to fill it with water “It’s... kind of hard to explain without you being there”
Gustave leaned against the counter and folded his arms “I’ll take your word for it, mon cœr” he said with a smile.

Gustave was having a very hard time concentrating.
It was the anniversary of the day they saved the canvas. Monoco had mentioned a new gestral merchant with a new obstacle course some weeks back, so they all decided on having a beach day. They'd completed the course in 10 minutes, and now Maelle, Lune, and Monoco were competing on who could do it faster. While Gustave and Sciel opted for lounging under an umbrella. Gustave was attempting to read a book, but Verso decided he needed to pick up seashells right in front of them.
Gustave has always had a thing for thighs, and apparently that transferred over to his new found attraction to men. Or maybe it was just Verso. He didn't know yet. He'd seen other men before, and objectively thought they were handsome, but he's not sure he's ever been attracted to them. The point is Gustave can't focus on his book, because his eyes keep being drawn to the other man's bare thighs; the muscles shifting and flexing with every move.
Or Gustave has a thigh kink, and Verso's thighs look like they need to be bitten
i just wanted to draw them being cool and maybe kind of in love idk
