Linkspam put on her pajamas at 7pm on a Saturday. Don't judge me.
Dude. Two people I have personally met won awards at the Nebulas tonight.
Congratulations to Naomi Novik for winning the Nebula for best novel for Uprooted!
And congratulations to Fran Wilde for winning the Andre Norton award for YA for Updraft! It's her first novel! Woah.

The science behind how awesome running is. Now if only my vertigo would go fucking away so I could run again...
Nooooooo! This was my favorite bar for a longass time. Great salads, great beer list, nice little patio where people brought their dogs. Just a chill place. I'm so sad. Damn the tech economy, anyway.
Man, this article about people hunting for Nazi gold in the Polish mountains is fascinating. Dowsing rods! Space ships! Buried treasure! Miles of empty tunnels! But also: Nazi fetishism, lost history, and the deaths of thousands of prisoners forced to dig the tunnel complexes. Sad and horrifying and weirdly compelling.
I may have to consider this mac & cheese recipe. Hmmm. Even if it is Martha.
Oh, hey, lookit that. Kenniwick Man is finally going to be repatriated. That's about time.
This is a depressing article about democratic norms and how easily they are eroded.
Possibly only

In other news, I started listening to Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen yesterday, and woah,
dira really was right on the money, weren't you? You've been Kempered! (That's the term we came up with in Farscape fandom when we guessed something that later happened, like when Maayan wrote a story called Kansas, set on Earth.)
Anyway, it's nice to see Cordelia again, being Cordelia. Even if I'm not all that interested in Jole himself.
